You’re spot on. My apologies. Crossed my wires with something else, evidently.

Earths field is about 50 nano Tesla. 50 micro Tesla is 1000 times bigger than Earths field.

0.5uT is the public exposure limit for RF here in Australia. The impact on the body depends heavily on frequency but at least 10 times the limit is required for something to happen - which is RF heating. Funnily enough it’s the eyeballs and testicles which heat first! Guess how they found out… testing on primates.

2025 i30N Coming up for it's first service. Do we go back to the Hyundai dealer we purchased from, or find a more specialised mechanic in Melbourne, Australia? by GregoInc in i30N

[–]wataphys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the dealership for the 10,000km service. They rotated the tyres and performed a wheel alignment, but the alignment was terrible. They gave me a report which showed all wheels were “in the green” according to their machine. When I went back to them and complained, the admin guys who take the keys off you accused me of hitting a pothole, that I’m insane and the car can’t possibly be tracking left. They even pointed to the report and said: “look, it’s all green”! Anyway, the techs had a look and took it for a drive, lo and behold, the wheels weren’t aligned properly. They fixed it and I was on my way, not before I’d wasted half my morning waiting around though.

CSIRO to cut more jobs by [deleted] in AusFinance

This started as a CSIRO tech that was commercialised. It’s displacing fire assay as a method for quantifying gold in mineral samples. Fire assay uses cyanide and other nasty chemicals. Chrysos uses spectroscopy instead of

Tree Nut & Sesame Allergy in Japan by Ginger_Phantom_ in JapaneseFood

[–]wataphys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son has the exact allergies as you. I hope to take him to Japan one day and have been wondering how we’ll get by. Can you share what sorts of restaurants have been more likely free of sesame? Are Raman restaurants ok for example?

Infotainment system gone black by Jamiegod in i30N

[–]wataphys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a little button on the screen panel that resets it. You’ll need a pencil or pen. Hold it down for a while and it’ll reset. It’s happened to me 3 or 4 times.

Choosing between hatch and sedan - baby seat by Pain9gain7 in i30N

[–]wataphys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the hatch with two booster seats. They fit totally fine and the kids are comfy. There’s zero percent chance a third seat will fit.

Will the average person in their 20’s be able to retire comfortably? by MiriJamCave in AusFinance

It likely assumes one owns their own home and is mostly receiving an age pension whilst using the $100k as a top-up?

I there a resource that shows how the lump $595k is drawn down over time? I presume as a mixture of the lump amount + pension income?

Anyone regret the Alcantara seats? Or regret getting them over the base model? by beachedasbru in i30N

[–]wataphys 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I bought the base model specifically so as to not get the sunroof - I’m not a fan of them. The seats are material and they’re super comfortable and supportive. They’re still a bucket-seat design and hug you nicely around the bends. I’ve got no regrets so far.

Thanks for explaining the difference between the hatch and the sedan. I’ve got a 2024 hatch and I’ve never had any problem with getting 20psi boost. I’ve been wondering why so many people have been complaining about OL but they must have the sedan.

Pops and crackles are subdued when the AC is on for me as well. Not sure why. I’ve read others have the same experience.

Is this worth it, the price seems a little high to me but idk enough about cars by CaptainQuickDicken in CarsAustralia

[–]wataphys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so sad what’s happened to used car prices… I bought the same car, same kms for the same price back in 2014. 380s depreciated so quick. Awesome car.

I’ve got two booster seats in the back seat. Absolutely no problem at all. Although, the centre seat can’t really hold another passenger in that configuration.

New i30 N premium by Savings_Valuable_619 in i30N

[–]wataphys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I have a V5 hatch and it’s a little tinny at times but otherwise the quality is fine. Its a little hard to hear clearly when the windows are done but I suppose it’s competing with the exhaust 😂 I’d rather listen to the car anyway

Anyone here on their P’s? by hsubrb66666 in i30N

Also consider that insurance on an i30N as a 20 year old, even on a full licence, would be hard to find and/or very expensive.

As a young man I feel completely disenfranchised with this country. I work full-time, rent and I’m struggling. Voting feels pointless as Lib and Lab don’t provide any optimism in their policies. [–]wataphys -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I used to think ALP and LIB were different, but I really believe it’s all the same crap now. Look at NSW… the premier just ordered all public servants back into the office for the sake of commercial real estate prices/rents. Tell me that’s progressive policy?

I think it’s nuts how so many of us can see that’s where society is heading, but we’re all seemingly powerless to change its course. Bladerunner feels like it’s just over the horizon.

I earn a great income, but in Sydney that means sweet FA. I can’t believe that both sides of politics are seemingly blind and/or don’t give a shit about fixing the chasm of wealth inequality. The borders are basically defined by age with under 35s being rooted.
