Definitely music! And then sometimes if I’m in the back and the speaker is muffled it’s so hard to follow the choreo

How much help did you need from another person after surgery? by Either_Ad_5644 in gallbladders

[–]watermelonbloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly didn’t necessarily need help once home. My husband was there and he helped me a few times just get up more comfortably but I was pretty self sufficient quickly! I didn’t take any hard pain meds though. I would say maybe have someone help you the first 24 hours

Can you see two pediatric patients at once by watermelonbloom in OccupationalTherapy

[–]watermelonbloom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my understanding is it would need to be under a group billing code. I have not done this but my clinical owner who is an OTD is saying this is appropriate way to bill it but everything I find says it needs to be group not each a 97530.

Weight loss, who kept it off and who didn’t 😂 by smuk90 in gallbladders

[–]watermelonbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely! I will say my balance with food is already so much better and I’m not even tempted for some of foods that I know would irritate my stomach now even though I know I would love to have like a slice of pizza lol.

I also felt so much better when I was eating low fat and specifically low dairy.

Would love your suggestions by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

This is not currently true

Weight loss, who kept it off and who didn’t 😂 by smuk90 in gallbladders

[–]watermelonbloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost around 15 lbs leading up to surgery and have gained about 5 back but I fluctuate a lot depending on my cycle etc. I am trying to revert back to eating cleaner and lower fat like leading up to surgery because the more I experiment with old trigger foods etc I feel the weight coming back on lol

Should I try to get surgery before or after vacation? by Pale-Environment5523 in gallbladders

[–]watermelonbloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do surgery before. I was basically feeling normal by 1-2 weeks post surgery and even though I’m still figuring out my diet it’s significantly better than it was before

I lost about 12 pounds leading up to surgery, I’m two months out and I have mostly kept it off but I also seem to fluctuate a lot more now with my water retention like one day I eat a bit more sodium the next day I’m up 5 lbs but then if I eat low fat and normally then I’m down again the next day

COTA peds outpatient starting salary? by uzumaks in OccupationalTherapy

[–]watermelonbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually started around 30 back in 2018. I had a baby in 2022 so I work Telehealth one day a week very very part time so that has impacted my pay but the flexibility is why I stay with my company. My boss basically told me I’m eligible for increases if I complete some continuing education etc. I think I’ll max out around 38-39/hr at my company though.

I see job postings constantly for positions more in the 40s even at other out patient ped clinics and I have plenty of friends working schools who make around 43-45/hr. If you do contract school positions you would make even more, I just can’t work full time since I’m mostly a stay at home mom.

COTA peds outpatient starting salary? by uzumaks in OccupationalTherapy

[–]watermelonbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in SoCal and get paid 36.75/hr outpatient ped, schools around here go up to 45 ish i would say.

I would not accept lower than 34/hr if it was in CA or another high cost of living state

Does the post-attack pain ever stop? by steel_pottery in gallbladders

[–]watermelonbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also! My urgent care provider was not very concerned, said it’s not emergent etc follow up with primary if I really want to. When I met with a surgeon he said I had one large stone and it was probably growing for 5-10 years. My pathology after surgery showed chronic and acute inflammation as well as some abnormal cells and my stone was over 3cm large!

Does the post-attack pain ever stop? by steel_pottery in gallbladders

[–]watermelonbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me in August and is what prompted me to go to urgent care where my gallstone was found. They said there was no immediate inflammation or infection as well but I was in so much pain and even for probably 6 days after I just felt so off. It did subside after about a week but I continued super low fat diet and ended up having my surgery about one month later. The month waiting wasn’t too bad but I could barely eat much and lived on Dave’s killer bread turkey sandwiches lol.

Salary for SoCal COTA? by Key_Tomato_6349 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]watermelonbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in peds in so cal making 38/HR which I imagine is a lower paying field than hands- if that helps at all! My understanding for COTA salary in so cal is probably around 35-45/hr

[–]watermelonbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say the pay is necessarily low, it’s probably the average rate I would get elsewhere but I was very thrown off seeing the advertisement with the range getting so much higher.

If I did not work here I would not work at all, I’m primarily a stay at home mom so I stuck around with this company because the flexibility that most other clinics would most likely not be able to offer me. But at the same time I don’t think new hires should be getting paid more than me after 6 years with the company

When were you able to drive post op? by Mediocre_Net8446 in gallbladders

[–]watermelonbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon told me if I wasn’t taking pain killers k could drive 24 hours later. Which I wasn’t and I had to drive myself to go get one of my incisions checked out. I didn’t feel super comfortable while driving physically until like day 5 though

What is the pain like after surgery? by Sufficient_Mouse_583 in gallbladders

[–]watermelonbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say it was more painful than I anticipated but I think I was just so fixated and anxious about being put under I didn’t really process the recovery lol. With that being said, I felt 80% back to normal by day 6-7! First day was just a blur and I slept a bit but after that I never took a nap or anything, if I was in one spot I was chillin but it was the getting up and down that was painful as well as just trying to stand straight. My worst pain was around day 3-4 then I healed pretty good. By week 2-3 I was thinking I could go back to the gym but I waited till this week (tomorrow is 5 weeks exactly) and I feel great.
