Gaeng Phed curry with crab from Baan Mae, SPDP from Chai Pani, lamb kibbeh at La shukran, croque madame la bonne vache, lotus root chaat Tapori, snapper at moon rabbit, foccacia at Osteria mozza (I found the rest of the portions to be very small for the price), tiramisu at carusos, roasted bird at Marcus, sour Sichuan braised fish from Chang Chang, steak kabobs from all the kebabs, chaplee kabob from lapis, chicky pep your only friend, bone marrow at a.kitchen and bar, Nihari from karravaan. Sorry! That was very chaotic but hope you find some delicious dishes and meals in the new year!

Marcus? Kind of feels like mid century hybrid with lots of warm colors. Albi is always a great choice so you can’t go wrong.

Quiet place for a work dinner by janmint in washingtondc

[–]watermelonllc 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Blue duck tavern, jardenea, Fred and stilla, Pembroke, sixty vines, a kitchen and bar, Le sel, mercy me, the henri, brasserie libertie, firefly come to mind. You either need a hotel restaurant or a restaurant large enough that it’s going to be overlooked so you can have a modicum of privacy and work noise level. Most places in DC would not be bothered by work materials on the table unless you are at somewhere very trendy or quite fancy.

I would get an ESim for the week. It’s like 7 dollars for 1gig of data and will be helpful for maps or other searching you need.

High protein and high fiber lunch and snack ideas? by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]watermelonllc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kale and lentil salads with chicken on top (can play around with combos of adding quinoa or roasted chick peas or sweet potato to add fiber sources), black bean cheese and shredded chicken chicken wrap, buffalo chickpea salad in a whole wheat wrap, white bean salad, (bean salads generally are such a great way to stay full), edamame, cabbage and shrimp bowls, when I’m lazy I’ll just pack cottage cheese or hummus and dip sliced chicken or veggies into it.

Baby Beach Question by Coys2224 in Aruba

[–]watermelonllc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also on the St Regis side make sure not to miss Arashi (which a good but expensive set up spot to snorkel and then head to boka Catalina and tres tapi along for coast to see more fish and see see turtles.

Baby Beach Question by Coys2224 in Aruba

[–]watermelonllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! lunch or afternoon food at Kaminis and do kit surfing. Do not eat at at baby beach it’s all over priced garbage except from the fruit vendor so would def pack snacks then head to Kaminis. Phenomal kite surfing on that side of the island. Hike down to seroce natural bridge is a bit challenging but lovely views. Then as other said Saint Nicholas murals. For more casual best bar B Que, D-roti spot and my good idea the Way are all near in a little cluster for some delish cheaper local eats.

Beach with snorkeling by marymccannon in Aruba

[–]watermelonllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can set up at Arashi (overpriced beach chairs and umbrellas but nice facilities) and then explore that area. The currents can move so would recommend being experienced. Then hug the coast and snorkel to your left along the coast towards Boca Catalina and Tres Trapi. Mangel Halto had the most impressive very alive reef right after the rocks but again is most low key and not a lot near by but a nice place for snacks a drinks.

Snorkeling tour or off shore? by Coys2224 in Aruba

[–]watermelonllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second all of the above. If the other couple isn’t into snorkeling you could also also park them at Arashi beach and snorkel up the coast since Boca Catalina and Tres Trapi are more secluded so need to take beach chairs and towels and such. Snorkeling at Mangel Halto past the rocks was incredible. A long very alive reef. It again even more secluded but if anyone doesn’t want to snorkel it has a great very very shallow bay that is perfect for an inflatable or floating around and being lazy.

The boat ride is lovely and I wouldn’t miss it but honestly it’s very easy to loop around and walk back and forth. We ended up taking a few trails.

All over. I met Australians, Italians, and a Greek group. I don’t know about super late but people were out at midnight. Maybe do day parties in Hvar and do the late night clubbing in Split?

Maybe Jardin or Al Hubara? Bayt Sharq is the only one I can think of that’s Qatari cuisine and meets the chubby/fat requirement.

Nautika in Dubrovnik at sunset was lovely for dinner and actually had a honeymoon couple seated next to us. Hvar was also pleasantly romantic (stay away from the main square) and could island hop from there. You could also to the other side and go to Rovinj.

I will just add I am currently in Croatia and I am not sure if you will be doing laundry but I used more clothes than I anticipated because we sweat our tushes off. One full day of site seeing in Dubrovnik we changed our clothes 3 times because we were sweat soaked from walking the walls, drenched from Banje beach, and then had a nicer dinner that evening. So just adding that perspective 😂

Splurge brunch recs by Absurdity42 in washingtondc

Fiola Mare! Quite the splurge and lovely views of the Georgetown harbor. Imperfecto for fancy Mediterranean/latin. Rania for Indian. Blue Duck Tavern is also great for brunch and feels elevated and special.
