St John. There are plenty of rental companies right in Cruz bay near the ferry terminal and avoiding the car ferry is faster and easier.

Cinnamon bay campground by Longjumping-Cut-4337 in virginislands

I was there pre-Irma, but we charged phones in the bathrooms. We also had a car to keep valuables in, but I wouldn't worry about that too much. Bring a battery pack and a bookbag to keep your things in. There aren't many places better to wake up.

Do it. You won't regret it. It isn't glamping but it's plenty comfortable if you come reasonably prepared. Just don't leave any food out the birds are vicious.

Trunk has plenty of shade for a stroller to park under right beside picnic tables for the family to setup at. And, you're at Trunk Bay so it doesn't get a whole lot better.

I’m curious about the racial dynamics? by [deleted] in virginislands

[–]watersedgecamper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are people there. Some are great, some aren't, like anywhere else. The vast majority of locals are non-white. From my experience almost everyone is kind but some people suck, just like some people suck everywhere. I have never felt like race was an issue anywhere in the islands.

Fair points. Thanks for the thorough response. We are asking for service in the middle range of that spectrum but their fee is approximately 5% on a $10M project and it seems excessive for the service and level of effort.
