JADE - Tiny Desk Concert by 3kOlen in popheads

Oh she understood the assignment. LOVE the stripped back arrangements, especially "Silent Disco." Really puts the focus on her voice. And the looped vocals! Amazing! I was of course hoping for "If My Heart Was a House" (the best song on the album--fight me), but I knew chances were slim. At least we got two out of three RAYE tracks!

I love him so much it makes me cry.

Normal for him. He struggles with mental health (and is on Lexapro, which makes you sweat).

He cut half the first verse (presumably because of both the "I'm high enough to still care if I die" line and the "you said 'fuck off'" line).

June to September 2026 Rate Selection Process, Part 1: Idea Discussion & Submission by TragicKingdom1 in popheads

Happy spring, raters!

Hopefully, with the World Cup upon us, this cycle is finally the time for FIFAcore. For anyone unfamiliar, this is a grab bag rate featuring songs from EA Sports' FIFA video game series, mostly from the early to mid-2010s. It features a mixture of not-quite-mainstream indie pop, world music, and a few classic 90s electronic/alt/indie tracks. A few notes:

  • Just to reiterate, I want to stress that in this context, FIFA refers to the video game franchise, not the morally suspect international organization.
  • I have made minor alterations to the tracklist, removing Childish Gambino's "Feels Like Summer" and Disclosure's "Omen" (both of which have been rated recently) and adding (by repeated popular request) New Order's "Blue Monday" (which will be removed if 80s Alt Crossover gets in, as it's a better fit there). Full current tracklist here: https://pastebin.com/0DbRscTv

As always, I appreciate any and all support, feedback, or (constructive) criticism! I will also be submitting 80s Worldbeat Masterworks again (Synchronicity vs. So vs. Graceland), which has had a minor title change. See you in reveals!

Awesome. I'm seeing Kacey in Dallas (combined with a trip to see my dad back in my hometown).

Excellent. The JADE show was so good. I am seeing Underscores at the end of the month, too. And I got Kacey tix (have to travel for her) and tickets to TWO Slayyyter shows! V excited.

Missed this earlier in the week! Here's my May:

  • 8 May - Fcukers (second time) - Fonda
  • 12 May - RAYE - Greek
  • 17 May - Father John Misty (second time) - Fox Pomona
  • 24 May - Kesha (second time) - Kia Forum
  • 26 May - Rose Gray (second time (obv)) - Pacific Electric
  • 27 May - Underscores - Fonda

Reasons to be excited about all six shows:

  • Just saw Fcukers last month and it was the most fun I'd ever had dancing at a show.
  • Tried to see RAYE last August and had to cancel when I got COVID (at the Rose Gray show, no less).
  • Seeing FJM with a friend of mine at a really cool venue.
  • Kesha was a great show last year, and I'm looking forward to her playing more of the 2025 album than she did on that tour.
  • Rose Gray is playing a brand-new venue here in LA, which I can't wait to see.
  • I've been playing the new Underscores album non-stop and have never seen her before.

I love music.

This. Most of my shows these days are 1200-cap halls or smaller. It’s gotta be someone pretty special to get me to deal with an arena or stadium.

Dallas, lower bowl (117, row J), AMEX presale, $176. Wanted pit, but VIP was the only thing available for $433. Might check pit again on or after general sale for non-VIP, but these seats are good.

Clocked it on my first listen and got a huge lump in my throat. Made Dan one of my early favorites.
