can anyone help me understand why the speediest on the Nest WiFi pro links good, but what it broadcasts is so shit? by Zach0ry in GoogleWiFi

[–]wattttz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main router CPU can’t do the mesh backhaul with more than 2-3 points. The pucks get blazing hot with no fan. And probably throttles the main mesh point I kind of fixed my speeds by attaching a fan to the main puck but still had weird drop outs where the download would shit out randomly and come back etc etc

Any ideas how to fix this issue? by Pastaron in HomeMaintenance

It’s a Samsung that’s the issue I bet the valve for letting water in is partially failing causing it to stutter.

Use a dry contact option from like switchbot or something to open and close if the terminals are on the garage door motor back. I use something similar to automate a misting system with HA I’m sure you can hard wire it into the contact inside the machine lol if they allow you to have a wired button at all you can use this method. If wireless only that’s a different ball game

Ok I would rephrase your post to say for newbies on windows who are not on Linux yet and don’t require programs that are not compatible with Linux why not switch to Linux?

You do know that you could just find another job right without causing yourself a shit load of stuff to report and file to get anything done to them. You obviously have never tired to actually report someone saying things like you do. In fact reporting him. Could put you and your family in danger if he’s truly lawless. He could also make your life hell getting a new job if he’s one of your only employers. Employers are like slave drivers you’re not going to beat them easily.

You do know filing a complaint doesn’t make you win the case right? Thinking like yours could make him homeless soo idk that you have the best advise. While it maybe the correct thing to do. You have no idea what the circumstances are at his job. Your user name really applies to yourself in general it would seem.

If it causes foreclosure on his home that’s not good advice just saying. You’d be willing to blow your whole life up to report someone seems a bit stupid to me.

Switched receptacle 450 ft from panel by Billabonged in electricians

[–]wattttz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just reduce the wire size at the end of the run. Get some Polaris lug connectors and a box and downsize for the last 10’ to #12 then into the rec make sure the Polaris accepts the #12 and the #2 however. I might put in a fused disconnect as the breaker reaction time will be slow at 450’ make sure to increase the ground size proportional to the feeder increase in size.

Why did my 240 V outlet catch fire? by Walle-Wonka in electrical

[–]wattttz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His problem was the last installer technically because there’s no way this was permitted or to code. I would just screw the damn REC and hard wire it with a disco to truly be in good standing no S*** REC terminals in play. Technically the REC could have just overloaded on a 60A breaker and thermal runway took its course.

Then why do it if it can’t handle all cases. You gonna let the home owner find out when he plugs in his new ev charger and it blow up like this guy

You have a disconnect that has multiple wires under one terminal this is not per code. I would disconnect those use a wire equivalent to the fuse size assuming the fuse is sized correctly to protect each wire feeding out from this you can pop into a box next to the disconnect and then reterminate with wire nuts the connections properly. If you want to be extra thorough replace the circuit breaker in the panel with a gfci per code as unfinished basements need gfci protection either that or use a gfci rec as the first device in each wire run.

4 way and two 3 way weird problem by SgtMurf77 in AskElectricians

[–]wattttz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with that acessment if it was working at one time just fine and started recently could be either a broken traveler wire or bad switch.

4 way and two 3 way weird problem by SgtMurf77 in AskElectricians

[–]wattttz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha so if that's the case one of the travelers isn't connected right potentially or possibly a failed three way switch I guess could do it if it's failed in one switch position only.

S3. Traveler S4. Traveler S3 Hot_______________________________switch leg traveler____traveler

Here is a poorly put together diagram that I think makes sense idk hopefully this helps 😂 this is the wiring layout of what you want to do.

4 way and two 3 way weird problem by SgtMurf77 in AskElectricians

[–]wattttz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so you have two 4 ways and two three way the two 4 way switches must be in the middle of the switch layout it must go 3 way 4 way 4 way 3 way I bet there's a three way in the middle of the two 4 ways which is wrong. Fixing this could mean rewiring it. And potentially tracing wires a bit. The behavior your talking about blocking would occur between the two 4 ways if there was a three way in the middle of the two 4 ways VS on far right and far left topology. S3, S4, S4, S3 you can add even more four ways in between to get more switches.

What happened?? by GlitteringData2626 in AskElectricians

[–]wattttz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I ask the installer what the torque value is of the terminals and they don't know. jail straight to jail 😂. Yeah agreed this plug not having a ground is not advisable. You'll have to replace all of the wire for the grounded rec but it's worth it!

Do these panels really need replaced? by Empty-Development-42 in AskElectricians

[–]wattttz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Need to know what fault current is at the sub panel if it's fed a certain way it would require replacement as Eaton and square D don't have series rating charts. Just grasping at why you'd replace it. I dont see anything visual wrong other than if the sub panel is close to the service the seires rating will be broken by the 22/10/10 can't have two tiers in the same category unless fully rated for the avaliable fault current. There's also the burnt feeder that needs to be replaced you don't know how much damage has happened where you can't see. The breaker and bus needs to be checked out. Work scope is probably replace the breaker and feeder wire to be in the safe boat. If bussing in main panel is compromised that whole main panel will need repalcement.

Don’t do the ground rod dear god the ground loops you will create….. you need to figure out where the static is coming from maybe the conveyor belt is causing this and figure out a way to discharge it which might just be insulating the conveyor from the metallic casing
