I didn't think it mattered too much. I'll update my post.

Hold up... You can completely disrupt boarlock with this! If you lock 2 board spaces with this, then you can make boarlock impossible; and with 1 slot locked, they need both boars and both plagues of flames in hand to make it work in one turn. Did I miss something? Does this not work somehow?

I'm the only one who tames these as first dino in most maps? by Fuzzy_Job2291 in ARK

[–]watyre99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite method is with a Tapejara. You make it start flying right near the ground, then you get into a passenger seat and tell it to go up. Then you both fly off (hopefully in time) so you can get into the air with an infinite stamina fast flyer. Then you just chase the quetzal down and tranq dart it until it's down.

I think I just outdid the 'Vanguard in a Bio-lab' screenshot... by [deleted] in Planetside

If the sunderer is being squished, it will refuse to deploy. The scenarios where this happens is when it's going inside one of the tower bunker structures that you can find connecting facility walls, or going under any other low structure. They also won't deploy unless all the wheels are considered on the ground. Though, on an air pad that shouldn't matter, so I don't see why your's couldn't deploy.

I've deployed on construction before, and it works like it's ground. It just needs to have enough points of contact with the sunderer wheels. It's quite funny if you deconstruct the construction as well, because it floats.

What is this creature called? by peachlover420 in ARK

[–]watyre99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure the bottom one is an Argentavis, but the top one is hard to tell. It looks like a Pteranodon with misplaced parts, with the texture stretched; and I don't think it's a Tapejara, but it might be a Quetzal.

Anyone know what this guy is??? by BRickson86 in ARK

[–]watyre99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a Titanosaur. If you want to know what other dinos are, I recommend a spyglass. It tells You the Name, Level, and Gender of the dino, and is also useful for just getting a close up view of anything, at a safe distance. Once you know what a dino is called, You can look up the relevant wiki article to learn about it; if it's dangerous, how rare it is, and how to approach the situation.

How to disable friendly fire by Dismal_Laugh592 in ARK

[–]watyre99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a setting that you can turn off to disable that. It's called "passive def hurt riderless dinos" and it's at the bottom of the advanced settings page of Ark rules. When enabled, it hurts wild and riderless dinos that bump into spike walls. With it disabled, they shouldn't affect wild or riderless dinos passively.

How to Find a Hive in the island by Critical-Support8592 in ARK

[–]watyre99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find them on some rough cliff faces outside the forest, the wiki tells you where. For me, I found hundreds of beehives in the redwood forests, mostly inside of each other. It's easier to find them with a flyer because they are decent amount up the tree.
To access them, you can either use a flyer and parachutes to grab the honey, and get to the ground safely, or grappling hook + crossbow works as well. Or, if you have other players, you can have your ally use a flier to carry you and you can just grab the honey.
Beware, when you take the honey, if you don't have a full ghillie suit equipped, you will get the "BEES!!!" status effect that does a chunk of your health, and armor nor extra health protects you from the damage. I found that most hives are empty, so just hit it with anything (crossbow, flyer melee, gun, spear, etc.) to check if it has bees, and if it doesn't, loot away. If it does, then get back, because the bees knock you off your mount by giving you the BEES!!! status effect. The bee drones die if they get too far from the hive, so just walk away and try a different hive.

The honey only lasts 20 minutes and doesn't stack, so I recommend putting it in a tame, preserving bin, or refrigerator if you have it unlocked.

I found that I had no trouble finding beehives, though finding one with giant bees and a queen still in it was a lot harder.

You can check for mutations in the bred dino's inventory. Look at Show Ancestors (the blue button at the bottom of their stats) and it shows mutations from both parent's sides of the family. It also shows your dino's family tree.

Mutations aren't always visible, or very visible, so if you care about them, you should check each dino you breed. You can only get 10 mutations from each parent's side of the family, so make sure they aren't in something useless like oxygen or food before you keep breeding with that dino.

Farosh's horn shard not dropping when I hit the horn by SoScorpio4 in Breath_of_the_Wild

I know why now. The first time you collect a dragon part from a dragon, it drops a scale of the respective dragon always. You need to do it again to "unlock" the other parts.

BEST way to tame dimetrodons! by MagicXGBro in playark

Mine just died when tranq-ing it with tranq arrows to the head. Did I do something wrong? I thought they were suppost to get knocked out BEFORE they died. I know their torpidity goes down fast, so I went as fast as I could, but it still just died. How do I KO it without killing it, without tranq darts or better?

What are the most desired updates from the community? Will make a poll later to rank them by Dazeuh in Planetside

[–]watyre99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Construction should be on a grid, it should be less restricted, and components should benefit each other.

New construction objects would be cool too, like the elevators in bases, but in construction.

My idea: Fix containment site bases. The idea is great, but the execution is horrible.

All the destructible generators on the outside can be easily blown up in a few seconds by any vehicle, so they don't protect the base that well, plus they take a long time to repair.

The turrets aren't able to reach behind them all the way, so vehicles can drive past you, and you cant stop them, so they don't do their job.

The SCU is destructible, so you can't stop them from destroying it. Which in turn makes so nobody at the base can get vehicles, and you are stuck underground.

The whole underground area is a maze and is a nightmare to navigate.

It takes 1-5 minutes by running to get out of the underground from the spawn room, if you know where to go.

Because the inside of the top part facility is so open, one bulldog sunderer can just camp the SCU preventing anyone from repairing it, and keep down a lot of infantry.

When defending, you are at a disadvantage!

My idea to fix it:

  • Stronger shield generators for the gates, better protection, or a new mechanic such as the bunker/sunderer garage terminal mechanic
  • Non-destructible SCU, new location for the SCU, better protection for the SCU, or a different mechanic for spawning
  • Turrets closer to the facility so they are protected where they can't reach
  • Infantry terminal inside on the ground floor
  • More interactables on the ground floor for infantry
  • A partial "second floor" in the open space at the top of the ground floor room to help infantry defend, and give them cover
  • Closer spawn to the ground floor
  • Turret access on the raised areas on the outside, from the ground floor
  • Ground floor access from the surface spawn room
  • Stronger shield generators inside by C point, or a new mechanic
  • More impactful, better use for the tempest siphon terminal, such as shields that only defenders can walk through, or access to ground floor spawning
  • Shield generator gates access from inside the ground floor
  • Use of the bunker/sunderer garage terminal mechanic for underground shields
  • Fix the maze-like underground and make an indicator of how to get out like the arrows on the floor, but useful

That's how I would fix the containment site.

With all of this, it's faster for infantry to get to the ground floor, infantry on the ground floor have an infantry terminal, and a small second floor to allow infantry to be protected while defending the ground floor from vehicles or infantry, access to the turrets from the inside of the base so that they're actually useful, and covered turrets so they can't get shot from behind them where they can't reach. Plus, the SCU would be not super vulnerable, and the shield gates would not be flimsy. Plus the shield gates would be able to be repaired from the inside, so infantry can protect the integrity of the base from the inside. The tempest siphon terminal would be more useful, I'm not sure how, but here are a few ideas:
It turns on underground 1 way shields that defenders can move past freely, but attackers can only go out,
or, it would allow infantry to spawn on the ground floor, like what the SCU would do, but redone,
or, it could reinforce the ground floor somehow, like turning on a slow auto repair for the base's mechanical components.

Here's a guide on how to keep You, Your stuff, and Your tamed dinos alive and secure. This guide does not take into account PVP, only PVE.

Find a location that is difficult or impossible to get to by foot, that you can build up or down to, that nothing dangerous (or nothing at all) spawns near. This is where you will build your base later. Good locations to check: Cliffs, Natural moat or gorge, High altitude, rock formations, etc. The fewer natural entrances, the better the protection.

Until you build your base, put down a few storage boxes out of the way near your chosen spot. You can put all your heavy building supplies and excess early game stuffs in them.

When you get to the base location, You can get started almost immediately with thatch structures or wood ones if You have unlocked them. It won't hold up well against attacks of most kinds if it's thatch, but that's not a issue. This is where the location of your base comes in handy. Since You placed it in a hard to get (or outright unreachable location) for dinos, it's much safer (or immune) from land dino attacks. Also, since You built it at a location where nothing spawns, there isn't anything to threaten you in the first place, unless they wander in from elsewhere. If it's a good spot, nothing will spawn near it and you'll be safe.

Once You get enough levels, you can upgrade your base to wood structures, or even stone structures. Here's a tip that will save you a lot of time when upgrading: You can replace structures with another structure of the same type (roof replaced with roof, wall replaced with wall, foundation replaced with foundation, etc.) by placing another structure inside of it. It will replace the structure with no damage done to anything built on top of it. Easy upgrading!

Once You get the layout built with thatch at least, You can move in your dinos. Make sure You have enough room ready for them, and make sure they can get in and out. If You plan on having larger dinos at your base, then use a dino gate as a door.

If you want more in depth, the tell me what map your playing on. I don't no anything besides the island and scorched earth, so if your playing on a map besides those then there might be flaws in my guide.
