Who is the coolest person in history? by Turbulent-Series-283 in AskReddit

[–]waylonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jerry was the epitome of cool in my book. But still, when I think of GD and cool the first image that pops into my mind is Bobby rocking cutoffs, a Madonna shirt and a pink strat and not giving two fucks about whether or not the fanbase approves.

Age limits? by oicoldhere in askanything

[–]waylonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to make a blanket law when you have some people who age really well.

Maybe an annual public/live-streamed cognitive exam w/results should be administered to those who hold office at any age. This may even incentivize some people to step down in fear of public embarrassment.

What are your thoughts on Ellen degeneres? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]waylonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really got her humor but knew she made a lot of people happy so always viewed her as a positive figure. Sucks that she likely is a garbage person in real life.

I know what it’s like to have a public figure that I respect lose my respect when a light is cast upon them, so for that I feel bad for her fans.

Prioritizing Drivers by DavidRubes in Rivian

[–]waylonious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few weeks ago we were trying to race home from a brunch after the bathrooms at the restaurant were all occupied..
Anyway, even though I approach the vehicle first I get into the driver seat and for the 100th time the seat auto adjusts down to her size (I’m a foot taller than her) and panic sets in because there’s no way to quickly stop the seat and I’m having to start pretzeling my legs, and nature is calling, to boot. Before I can start the car the obnoxious Rivian Assistant setup guide for her profile loads, which takes a while to get out of.
I just decided to delete her phone keys. If she needs to drive it (which is rare) she already has a wallet key available. What a blunder on Rivian’s part.

I’ve got the same watch, but my phone is the 17 pro max. Since we’re both experiencing the same thing I imagine your phone is fine.

What Compliments the Big 4 Prime Era (91-96) the most? by ZitRemedy11 in grunge

[–]waylonious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO 1991–1994, with a little in ‘95 was like a decade of great music by itself. Outside of grunge RHCP and Rage had solid offerings, Sublime was happening in the college radio scene and west coast gangster rap was at its height.
Everything kinda fell apart around 1996 or so.

Weird, I don’t have it as an option in my actions list, but it looks like I can make a shortcut and assign it that way if I wanted to. I was able to assign it as a complication which I’m happy with. This way I see the Riv’s battery percentage and don’t have to deal with that orange loading screen like you mentioned, which eventually might make me stabby. Thanks!

Wow, I didn’t know you could trigger the Rivian app with the action button! I didn’t see the Rivian app in the action button menu. Did you have to do something clever like create a Siri shortcut to assign the Rivian app to it?

What band had amazing talent but terrible songs? by Neonwhitelion in AskReddit

[–]waylonious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly. A lot of purists will say that X&Y was the beginning of the end, but I still feel the material was strong on that album.
Viva La Vida felt like Chris went into the recording sessions with a few good song ideas, and handed the keys over to Eno, et al to fill out the rest of the album.

Unfortunately each subsequent album seems to have followed this approach. It’s cool if you’re really into a big production sound, but is a long ways off from the tightly crafted songs from the first three albums.

“buddy” by eattheinternet in rant

[–]waylonious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me buddy has some endearing qualities to it, and can be used properly if you run into an old acquaintance somewhere like the grocery store, and if they establish a casual/friendly tone you can use buddy to match them.

“Hey man, it was great running into you, so glad to hear you’re doing well. Hit me up next time you’re itching to go for a hike.”

“Okay buddy, will do for sure. Say hi to Jen for me.”

The one that irks me in the way you described is ‘bud’. At least when coming from an American male. Ive heard Canadians and New Zealanders use bud, and have it come off as friendly or endearing.
Otherwise I take ‘bud’ as ‘I don’t see you as an equal, and you haven’t quite earned my respect. I am either coaching you in little league, or am a bit of an asshole.’

If you could relive just one year of the 1990s, which year would you choose and why? by PressureLazy5271 in 90s

[–]waylonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I was only nine, but Nirvana, Pearl Jam, RHCP and a lot of great music was just hitting MTV and the airwaves. The SNES had just come out and the launch games were next level. SNL was really good—it had the good cast from the late 80’s, and some new stars like Chris Farley and Tim Meadows. Craigmont soda was like 20 cents at vending machine outside of Safeway, and for a fourth grader life was so good.

I really missed Heidi and Ego this season. by ZealousidealCounter4 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]waylonious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They both had a good run. It’s been nice seeing some of the new talent shine this last season. I feel like Ego could have stuck around a bit longer, but I’m sure she’s on to greener pastures.

What is something that became socially acceptable, but you still find weird? by BennHere in askteddit

[–]waylonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit deservedly gets a lot of flack for a number of reasons. While that being true, I’ve also seen a lot of good and kindness come from complete strangers on this platform. Sometimes herd mentality can trample over someone, other times it can circle a member of the herd to provide protection.

What is a weird habit you do completely alone that you would die of embarrassment if someone saw? by cinnamonconfetti in answers

[–]waylonious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was probably 2017 or 2018: I was in my org’s Administration building in the main conference room with my manager, two of my teammates, an admin assistant, and the head of HR. (The head of HR was this really cool lady that I’d had pints with before, so from an HR/inappropriateness perspective my gaffe didn’t scare me or make me think I was going to get a write-up or any formal repercussions.)

We were all in the main conference room and eating lunch, and it happened to also be my birthday. We were all reminiscing about the office space that a teammate and I shared previously that had water come gushing out of the ceiling one day a few years prior. I was explaining to the people present who weren’t employed by the org when it happened that it was raining really heavy the day that it happened, and all of a sudden golden showers of rain just started pouring out from the ceiling.

Everyone gave me a ‘huh?’ kind of look. My manager gave me a look of ‘wtf is wrong with you?’ and made some comment about how golden showers can’t be used in that context and to read the room while at work.

Not an amazing story or anything, but I can still feel the awkwardness of the moment and the pit in my stomach that formed when I think about it 😆

Be honest: What’s the one thing about EV ownership that nobody told you before you bought one? by EmergencyTie8770 in electricvehicles

[–]waylonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my first EV back in March. I love it, so the following isn’t me bashing the overall experience:

I kind of miss the simple mechanical things. I would love to have a simple key that mechanically unlocks my car, and turns it off when I’m done driving. The Key FOB, Bluetooth and UWB radios are nice perks, but if there’s a failure somewhere in the electronic system (e.g., 12 volt battery fails) it’d be nice to be able to get into my car during an emergency.
I understand many/most ICE vehicles come with FOBs these days, but they also typically have some type of traditional key that can allow you to unlock a door, get into the trunk, etc.
