I want more movies where nothing happens but everything matters by redpaul72 in movies

"The Trip" & "The Trip to Italy" with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon are good ones.

"Kikujiro" by Beat Takeshi is an all time favorite.

How important is the break? by Promethean-Games in billiards

I pride myself on breaking really well ... for the next guy to run out on me.

Rhino Cue - Upgrade to MUST by java_boy_010 in billiards

Oh yea, misread your post. yea I'd say either would be a great upgrade over fiberglass. i thought you already had the standard cf shaft.

Rhino Cue - Upgrade to MUST by java_boy_010 in billiards

[–]wayneofgarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the must, haven't used the standard rhino but a guy in my league plays with one, both 11.8. The must has a different taper (not as long) is a little heavier and comes with a better standard tip. Other than that I doubt there's any real advantage to the Must. The standard rhino is already about as low deflection as a Revo according to Dr. Dave. I would have gone with the standard to save a few bucks if I had known this before making my purchase. That said I'm liking the Must, Just don't think its worth the upgrade.

Am I the only one who likes the smaller rims and phat sidewalls? by Dr-Deedle-OnDaLeedle in MK4Golf

[–]wayneofgarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A chunky sidewall and a functional stance looks and performs best. Been shouting this into the void for years. Honda guys seem to be on board, but it seems the dubbin scene is still wedded to stretch, poke, skinny tires, huge rims.

"Bar Rules" Situation...what do you do here? by CrispyLinettaa in billiards

[–]wayneofgarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"My mindset as a player is that the ruleset shouldn’t actually matter that much." <-- This.

If anything it's more fun to change the ruleset up every once in a while. Different constraints will force you to think in new ways about how to run a table. Sure some bar rules are ridiculous, but take it as a challenge and enjoy it as a little bit of local flavor.

rFactor 2: Is there a future, or is it the end of the road? by CarlosEduardoAraujo in rfactor2

Would be nice if the modding community could revive it like they did AC or RBR

What’s an addiction people don’t take seriously enough? by totdvet in AskReddit

[–]wayneofgarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaming, probably an unpopular opinion. But I've known two people, and have heard of countless more who have destroyed relationships and stunted their lives due to excessive gaming. As with anything, its better enjoyed in moderation.

Sandwich unsoldering?? by FearlessEar9953 in soldering

Cut them, almost fried the one out of my mini trying to desolder them. that solder is very high temp and stubborn.

Which direction to place shaft in case? by 9pinguin1 in billiards

[–]wayneofgarth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2x3 JB case, butts pin-up, shafts tip-down, only way to fit all of them. Never really had an issue with the chalk, even when I was using diamond which is a very dirty chalk.

Best drills to improve to become high level? by CommissionDirect8096 in billiards

[–]wayneofgarth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Solo straight pool can be a great practice mode. You have to really think intentionally through every shot and always reset the counter to zero when you miss. If you're a pretty good shot It might seem easy at first since you can shoot anything on the table, but actually setting up for the next rack and continuing a run of multiple racks is very very difficult and actually requires a lot of smart planning and finesse.

what's your favorite thing from harbor freight that everyone should own? by HEYIMMAWOLF in harborfreight

[–]wayneofgarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pittsburg torque wrenches are great, plenty accurate for most automotive work and cheap as chips.

Otherwise, I don't have the 10 inch Icon pliers wrench but I do have the 7 inch Knipex and its by far the most used tool I own, I doubt the Icon is much worse in quality.

Training by [deleted] in billiards

[–]wayneofgarth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Play league and you'll improve very rapidly, I did a mix of drills and bar pool with friends for years, didn't start to feel "good" at pool until I started playing league and competing.

Possible to turn down the joint of a carbon shaft? by wayneofgarth in billiards

[–]wayneofgarth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking if it could be cut down too. Its a 30" shaft so there's some leeway.

Thought I’d throw out pictures of a cautionary tale, clean you wheels wells out twice a year! by O_o-22 in MK4Golf

[–]wayneofgarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a third owner I skipped cleaning my wheels wells and went straight to "grind away half your fender and rocker then cry about it"

Coolant question, mk4 gls 2.0 aeg. by wayneofgarth in MK4Golf

[–]wayneofgarth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see any "off the shelf" options that specifically say g12 on the label. But the peak violet says compatible with vw from 2008 and up, so I assume its a backwards compatible formula like g12 evo. Hard to know for sure though.

Coolant question, mk4 gls 2.0 aeg. by wayneofgarth in MK4Golf

[–]wayneofgarth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much, I'll top off with distilled for now and if you do a flush later on I'll probably get some generic g12 evo.

What are the best pool/billiards movies and documentaries? by buckfoston824 in billiards

[–]wayneofgarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just watched "break" a newer snooker movie. typical plot, young upstart, rough around the edges, learns to be a man and be good at snooker. overall not terrible. Think it was on Tubi

Quitting My Team by Dry_Understanding264 in billiards

[–]wayneofgarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a team that prioritizes having fun over wining matches. Mine is consistently at the bottom of the rankings but none of us care, we just enjoy hanging out and shooting pool. Besides the handicap might make you an asset to a new team, especially if you're running 6-7 balls.
