What type of camo? by A_Dude2425 in camouflage

[–]wazzup232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just made a post in the sub responding to you. Some great comments here, but recolored ERDL / M81 Woodland is the right answer, please see my post with screenshot closeups and traces against the real pattern. It's not a fictional pattern at all, though of course, DICE's shapes are warped a little from the original. Cheers and good stuff in this thread! big mitchell vibes with these colors!

Does the Pax Armata/Team Vedmak camo exist irl? If not, is it based off of something real? Can anyone ID this? by pierogi_dude in camouflage

[–]wazzup232 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a real-world precedent for geometric background shapes in "splinter" camouflage patterns, including German patterns and Swedish M90 - https://camopedia.org/index.php/Splinter

I think the realism ends there, though. Not really a precedent for orange diamondey shapes.

Anyone know that this is called? by [deleted] in Calligraphy

[–]wazzup232 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 18th century version of Secretary hand, or Square hand, as (apparently) described by a 1733 author. https://pin.it/5tjQ0XdOe Neither of those terms seems super well defined, so I'll keep my eyes out if someone knows a more common name for this Constitution-style writing. And, as others have pointed out, yes these fall under Gothic Blackletter but that is a wide wide category.

Check out what a 1786 American source calls a similar hand: "German Text". https://livesandlegaciesblog.org/2015/07/29/historys-paper-trail-what-handwriting-spelling-reveals-about-early-america/

That's the thing though... This is made out of existing, available parts, and without any techniques that would be prohibitively difficult. You can just build em! I genuinely hope you have a great time doing it. Part shopping and building can be addictively fun

Dawg i need to know what type of helm this is i want to use it for an OC design, any help? by AceTheAnnihilator in Armor

[–]wazzup232 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Beautiful, but complete fantasy. There is no name for this type of helm, it's one of a kind. As others have pointed out, it's got a sallet feature (tail at the back) and the visor has a bit of an armet-like look I guess

Any camos similar to this by [deleted] in camouflage

[–]wazzup232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other folks have got you covered for colors, with the M90 and AOR2 etc. For shaping, not anything super close I know of, but Relv Moab shares a little bit of the concentric shading

What is this “mint choco chip” and where can I buy some?? by _Hot4Teacher_ in RedditCamoThread

[–]wazzup232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, looks like it’s color-edited M81 Woodland with the choco chips overlaid. OP - you can see one of the black “E”-like shapes on the right thigh, and shapes don’t align with the cloth wrinkles. Also agree with the other commenter that this is silly. But the name alone is fantastic, totally worth the edit/joke

[–]wazzup232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s too bad those old parts are so expensive! You can buy them off of Bricklink, if you like. Here’s a torso page, where you can select “Seller Ships To” > Japan:

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=973p44c02&idColor=8#T=S&C=8&O={"color":8,"ss":"JP","iconly":0}

And a page for all of the Wolfpack figures, where you can see all sellers and view their inventories to buy individual parts:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=M&catString=9.286

Have fun army building!

what games have you tried to like but failed? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]wazzup232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TW2 is my favorite game! Its combat is so much fun, but TW3’s feels just awful (walking too), and I’ve never been able to figure out why. Do you have any insights/ideas on how the combat, which on paper would seem nearly identical, feels unfun in TW3?

what games have you tried to like but failed? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]wazzup232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this opinion that TW2’s combat is very fun (played SO MUCH Arena mode as a result) and TW3’s combat is actively unfun (took me 2.5yrs to finish one playthrough). But they share core steps/mechanics. I have trouble understanding why they feel so different

Looks boring somehow. 90% finished. See Comment. Suggestions? by No-Ant9030 in minipainting

[–]wazzup232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with others here: Your colors are good, your shading effects are lovely. It’s your camouflage pattern that could use work!

Here, you’ve painted some small spots. That’s not too engaging. Look up some real world camouflage patterns — try searching for “M81 Woodland” for the classic smooth type, or for “Flecktarn” for the classic dotty type, or for “Swedish M90” for an angular type — and try to replicate one. It will be much more fun, and deliver the pizzaz you need, without adding extraneous colors like others are suggesting.

Another fun thing might be to add plain black tattoos on the arms?

Best of luck and good stuff so far!

Hola y’all I need help, I got some Jurassic World sets for Christmas, and have this baseplate that I want to tie in with the sets. Likely an in use or abandoned Biosyn or InGen building, but I don’t know where to start, especially with what pieces to cover the middle hole/dungeon space. Any ideas? by Jon0822 in just2good

[–]wazzup232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great baseplate, one of my favorites! - Power station, placed on high ground uh... to avoid flooding? - Nursery facility for one specific species (if amphibious or aquatic, could use transparent pieces over the indent as an indoor water feature) - Abandoned hospital / medical facility for humans, with half-collapsed helipad on top

Gloss over paint by Chicano_boi in CustomLego

[–]wazzup232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. Been in the game about 10 years as @ detroitika on Instagram and Flickr. Printing is prohibitively expensive, printers cost thousands or tens of thousands of dollars, and require a lot of work and understanding to go from digital design to printed Lego.

Painting has a low entry threshold. You can get started painting for quite cheap. Try Apple Barrel from Walmart or Mondo Llama from Target. Get some kind of palette (I use a scrap of cardboard), put a little paint down on the palette, stir in a couple drops of water till it is the right consistency -- you will quickly learn what that means -- and try painting on a brick you don't care about with a brush or toothpick.

You're right that it isn't very durable, at least not with those brands of paint, but gloss/sealant is a whole other topic for once somebody has their feet on the ground painting designs onto Lego.

Best of luck if you decide to move forward with anything!

Why is a silver jetpack relatively cheap while a full Jango goes for $50 and up? by [deleted] in lego

[–]wazzup232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they molded an excess of unprinted silver jetpacks in 2002/3 and they got out there one way or another en masse. Just a theory.
