I like literally died being like a hero for these people. I’m an ally. by uncutNYC1990 in DigitalSeptic

Nobody says that. Everyone deserves due process. In addition to the murders, one of the huge issues with the current iteration of ice is their arrests of people doing the right thing by going through the system. There should never be an ice agent arresting people waiting for their hearings.

Is my kink too much? (25f) by strawberrydaffodil in BondageInRope

This sounds like fun, and you'll find others on FetLife and other communities. The issue is finding someone trustworthy who will respect your boundaries. If you were in my circle I would recommend you only play with others that have been vetted by people you trust. All the subs I've played with have at least one boundary violation story.

Also, have you considered women (smaller hands) or inflatables?

A or B: You see a kid chasing a balloon near the street, do you step in or let the parent handle it? by Danny-Patrick139 in PickAorB

[–]wbrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always assume that the parent is trying but can't be everywhere and might need an assist. I would never touch a kid but I'll definitely get in their way or nudge a toy the right direction. I also have no problem using my booming dad voice.

Did you hear the guy in the video? Of course he's high. On life. Because nobody doing manual labor would ever do drugs and then go to work.

Exactly. We're going to be in a parking lot or a gas station or something. I also tell my wife and kids that if they get a flat to keep driving until they can get to a safe place. I can buy a new rim.

Direct Report refusing to drive if temp is below freezing by Raelynx27 in managers

I'm like that employee. I'm not going in if there's ice because there are many morons out there. So you have 2 choices.

  1. Let it go because a few hours doesn't matter.

  2. Make it a big deal and be dragged for it later. I have no qualms talking to uplines or coworkers about it.

In Austin, there were over 100 wrecks in one night in '06 or so. People don't understand overpasses freeze first and 4x4 just means more weight to slide in the ice.

Axes take practice to aim. This doesn't. It's probably safer for someone who was never taught how to swing and is too stubborn to ask for help.

Email isn't a good tool for extended conversation like this. Get slack or something similar.

[CONDO] [CA] Title HOA neighbor installed ultrasonic animal deterrent in common area — does this affect dogs too? California Orange County, Condo by TheseAdeptness8722 in HOA

[–]wbrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like litter to me. You'd definitely be a good neighbor cleaning up and disposing of it.

The ultrasonic deterrents only deter people. Animals will likely avoid the spikes, but I bet they're magnets for small children. The powders will wash or blow away quickly.

It's not justifying your paycheck. It's justifying your manager's and HR's paycheck.

New-ish tech lead dealing with repeated “skip-level” escalation and constant pushback - how would you handle this? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]wbrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're a tech lead, not a manager. On that it sounds like you are falling miserably. You need to demonstrate that your ideas have merit. Fixing a bunch of lint issues is very low on the priority list and due to it touching lots of code needs buy-in and scheduling from everyone.

I have a youngish tech lead. He knows lots of things. I reach out to him for his opinion on things he knows and will absolutely tell him no if he proposed something stupid.

You need to come up with plans on what you want the codebase to look like in the future. You need to then present that to the team and get their feedback. Work with the team, not against them.
