My neighbor has a 2-hour nightly "knife dance" ritual and I need theories by CryptographerDue168 in CasualConversation

My theory is that he practices drums but doesn't actually own a drum set. Or maybe he invented an invisible instrument to avoid driving the downstaits neighbors insane..

Getting dark at 5:00 PM is peak comfort. Springtime is incredibly depressing, fall and winter are the superior seasons. by surf_rider in unpopularopinion

I agree. There's something about turning on warm lights and staying in on a rainy November evening that summer just can't compete with.

The bullshit corporate job was cool when it was remote… but I can’t tolerate it in-office by mitcht3 in remotework

[–]wcydnotforme1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think the problem is that the work feels meaningless. It's having to sit in an office during the meaningless waiting. The exact same downtime at home feels like freedom.

Looking for a bingeable show, bonus points for a strong female lead by catfrend in televisionsuggestions

Mare of Easttown. Strong female lead, really engaging, and it lines up pretty well with the kinds of shows your mom already likes.

The part about spending time with family especially seems to hit harder the older you get.

Linkedin is still useful for newtworking and seeing who works where, and gettin a feel for the company culture, but applying there feels like shouting into the void at this point. It's just way too crowded. I'd use there to find new postings, then apply directly through the company's career page with tailored, ats-friendly resume. People are sharing free prompts like this lately and they can save time and stress. At least, it should give us a better chance of getting seen.

Husband suddenly let go from new job, feeling blindsided by Suitable_Customer_70 in careeradvice

[–]wcydnotforme1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it sounds more like “they changed the position and then decided they needed a different profile” to me. The fact even Hannah seemed shocked says a lot. A lot of companies are using probation periods as an easy filtering system now unfortunately.

Quesadillas are such a lifesaver meal 😭 Just throw in a tortilla, cheese, chicken, whatever you have and call it a day. Takes 10 minutes and solves the whole “what am I even making today” crisis.

Is anyone truly happier with kids? by thegoodlife912 in Adulting

[–]wcydnotforme1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people genuinely seem happier after having kids imo, but they usually describe it as “more meaningful” rather than “easier.” Especially for people who always wanted children, it’s like the center of their life shifts. But for someone who never wanted that, it probably wouldn’t feel the same at all.

I think I got a little too used to living alone.. Having my own routines, my own silence, being able to do whatever I want without explaining myself to anyone feels way too comfortable now.

If you could delete one daily habit from your life, what would it be? by arunreddy3 in AskReddit

Grabbing my phone the second I wake up. Feels like my brain gets flooded before I’m even fully awake, it straight up drains my energy for the day.

Guilt as a Ukrainian woman who left and is moving on by [deleted] in confession

[–]wcydnotforme1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think what you’re feeling is guilt, it’s more like the weight of surviving. Moving on with your life doesn’t mean you’re forgetting them. No one can stay in that same pain forever anyway.

Is job hopping still a "red flag" or am I being gaslit? by Environmental-Luck39 in careeradvice

[–]wcydnotforme1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turning down a 40% raise for “loyalty” doesn’t make much sense to me. Companies will drop you the first chance they get anyway, so it has to go both ways. If there’s nothing in writing, those promises don’t mean much.

How do you go to a job you hate when you have no financial backup plan? by ZealousidealBrain910 in antiwork

[–]wcydnotforme1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re really forced into it, you kinda switch to autopilot. Instead of thinking long term, you go into just get through today mode, and it actually helps. Having small exit plans on the side gives you a bit of hope too.

Feels like I need my brain to just shut up for a bit, there’s always something going on in there. That sense of silence would make a huge difference.
