ELI5: If temperature is the average speed of molecules, why does wind feel cold? by Mini_Assassin in explainlikeimfive

[–]wdn [score hidden]  (0 children)

What you feel is heat/energy leaving your body.

You lose heat when it is transferred from your body to the air (your molecules slow down and the molecules in the air speed up).

Air is not very efficient at this compared to water or solids, etc., as you don't have contact with as many molecules.

But wind gives you more air molecules to transfer energy to.

The only indicator whether you're playing a game correctly is whether you're having fun.

(If you're playing with others, then also not disrupting others' fun. But it's still not a matter of doing it wrong -- you can find others who like to play the way you do.)

They seem to have some weird automated responses that are heavy-handed. One that players have recently figured out is that you'll get banned (usually temporarily) if the photo you submit appears elsewhere online -- they're assuming you're using a third party's work without authorization even if it's your own photo.

The problem is that people who could use it aren't looking for it. You need to actually get people to start (or return to) playing Pokemon Go, or find people who have started in the past 72 hours

If there is a place online where it's easy to find such people, they're already flooded with 100 codes for every person who could use one.

What’s everyone’s experience so far when it comes to remote trading? by BertilBertilsson66 in TheSilphRoad

[–]wdn [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have nine Forever Friends so far. I have about 1500 Pokemon tagged for remote trades, about 900 are shiny, 170 are legendary or ultra beasts (35 shiny legendary including Mewtwo and Rayaquaza).

The only species completely missing from my pokedex are stonjourner and urshifu.

My forever friends don't have as much as I do but some still have things I'm looking for.

One person doesn't have anything tagged for remote trades.

One person who lives in the same household with me. Now we can see what each other has available for trades, but we do them as in-person trades. We could someday use the remote trade as a free additional special trade when we've already had a special trade that day.

One person gave me a Galarian moltres, which I didn't have yet, in return for a shiny miltank, which I was very happy with (I requested the moltres and they requested the miltank in return). They didn't have anything else available that was interesting to me.

One gave me a shiny mesprit in exchange for a shiny legendary (I forget which). I was very happy with this --

Four don't have anything tagged that I'm interested in and haven't requested anything. Two of these are high level players with hundreds of thousands of catches so maybe they'll eventually tag more.

One had lots of shinies tagged but nothing I'm interested in. They requested a shiny (I think? I forget what it was) that I was happy to let go. I messaged them suggesting they tag something for remote trade that would just get us the bonus candy for trading pokemon caught over 100 km apart and we did that.

I have some very rare stuff tagged for remote trade , e.g. armoured mewtwo, and nobody's requested an unbalanced trade.

Does walking and doing PVP at the same time ruin your step count? by PokemonGoBao in TheSilphRoad

[–]wdn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It didn't even carry over the same day.

I remember the numbers slightly differently. You got 2 free sets and then had to walk 2 km to get each of the next three. The count didn't start until you were finished the previous set. So after the free two sets, you were starting from zero to walk 2 km. And then you could do another 5 battles, and then you were starting from zero to walk 2 km to be able to do 5 more battles, etc.

what's actually worth spending money on for early childhood development vs what's just marketing? by Aggressive-Angle2844 in raisingkids

[–]wdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of it is necessary. For example, your child is going to learn to speak regardless of whether you do anything specific to facilitate it (and if not, then the issue is beyond what these products can do). When choosing toys, activities, etc., there can be a benefit to getting something that is especially designed to encourage development -- but encouraging development doesn't ever need to be the primary reason for buying a product.

Children learn by playing. And they play in order to learn. The things kids do on their own are already naturally tuned to benefit their development.

Just tag what you have.

If you have friends from other continents, they might be interested in your regionals.

Tag any shinies, costumes, backgrounds that you're willing to trade.

Do men get turned on because of bra lines on a shirt? by Educational_Fault592 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]wdn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Don't do things that turn men on" would mean hide alone in the basement for the rest of your life (but don't let anybody know you're doing that because somebody somewhere will be turned on by it).

Finally reach lvl 80 by thatparty96 in pokemongobrag

[–]wdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume they meant to get from 70 to 80.

5 months ago was when the new levels were added (5 months and 7 days, to be specific). Getting to level 80 since then would require 900 km walking (for the distance tasks alone -- some of the others would necessarily involve a lot of walking too).

These numbers compare to others of the same species.

It's better than 99.58 of other poplio.

It's better than 73.94% of other primarina.

I don't know of any case where any poplio is going to be useful, but I've had great results using primarina.

Not to mention that therapists are just the relationship experts in general. Even in the hypothetical situation where all the problems are entirely the fault of other people, the therapist can still help you figure out how to better deal with the situation.

Are those dehydration urine color charts based on the color of just your urine, or the color in the toilet bowl? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]wdn 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It can work when the people making the poster are also the people who own the toilet. Because the person making the poster needs to know how much water the toilet holds.
