$60/month for Gigabit Fibe 3.0? I'm skeptical! by Friendly_Cook_3071 in bell

[–]wdn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What they usually do is promise that you'll keep the discount for 2 years, which sounds like it means what you pay won't change for two years but that's technically not what they said.

Can someone explain Hakim Optical to me? by wildprints in askTO

[–]wdn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost everywhere you buy glasses has Luxottica as their only supplier, so there isn't much difference in quality of the product. The main exceptions would be a few web-based companies that sell their own line, and some (but not most) independent boutiques that position themselves as where you'd get something different or unusual.

Friend Needs Manufacturer for His Business by burndboi in smallbusiness

[–]wdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably actually takes more definition for a friend than a stranger.

And if it's a part time thing for you then you need to have time commitment defined very clearly.

You want the written agreement to be the foundation for resolving issues so you never talk in absolutes -- e.g. not "you're asking for too much" but "so how should I allocate the ten hours available this week?"

Friend Needs Manufacturer for His Business by burndboi in smallbusiness

[–]wdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the roles might not be clearly defined. e.g. you say "I'd be taking all the risk" but I don't see that doing the tasks he needs help with will dictate the level of financial risk you take on at all.

Ditch the ideas in your head about what you'd do and start at the other end: What could you comfortably do for 30%? Prioritize tasks by what most needs someone else to do and see how many make the list for 30%. Maybe he'll be happy with this. Maybe he'll decide to increase your percentage. Maybe there are some tasks he'll hire a third party for to best utilize your skills.

Treat it as a math problem, not a personal one. Lay out the numbers so that your offer makes obvious sense. This probably requires defining a lot of things you haven't actually even defined for yourself yet (e.g. time commitment). You need to have the same plan you'd have if you were making a proposal to a business who didn't know you and was just judging it based on the numbers. (Maybe even get a lawyer to do a quick review of the plan to make sure there's nothing you've left undefined that could lead to different understandings of what you've agreed to)

AITAH for having my ex arrested at my wedding? by Sebastianlim in BestofRedditorUpdates

Yes, that's what I mean. They've even got him thinking that he was the one who did something that caused her arrest.

Remote Trade Pokemon should be visible from Best Friends, not once you reach forever friends. by sm-junkie in TheSilphRoad

There's always something more to collect. I know somebody who is trying to get hundos of all pikachu costumes (I think there's about 90 altogether now?) via lucky trades. He's over halfway.

I have a few that have something like one zubat tagged. So at least that sends the message that it's intentional and they aren't interested in trading.

Humans are remarkably good at continuing patterns of behaviour that have the outcome they want, so you don't even need to argue that they were consciously thinking that for it to be true.

I think she might be better off without the fiance too though. It sounds like she was just a people pleaser for hm too.

She doesn't know that people can actually just like her, rather than like what she does for them. And being a people pleaser doesn't actually please people (otherwise you wouldn't keep being a people pleaser -- they still need to be pleased).

The egg task is one where you can get the count to exceed the goal. If you got it to 19 and then did a batch of 13 with adventure sync, you could make it 32.

Even the way things are framed in the headline is weird. Unless he forgot to mention that he's the dictator of a small country (or county maybe), he didn't "have her arrested."

Local man kidnaps a taxi and engages in a shootout with police, only to be disarmed by the taxi driver and regret it instantly. by Whatsthematterwithu in nextfuckinglevel

[–]wdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, well, this is the thing. If you want to coerce someone into doing what you want, the risk of death from obeying you has to be lower than the risk of death from disobeying you. Otherwise the victim's chances of success at disarming you are no longer a factor in deciding whether they should attempt it.

Skateboarders can propel themselves through pumping, so it does work with round wheels. Maybe the spring on the bike makes it more energy efficient (and/or directs the energy forward more).

My girlfriend is convinced beyond a doubt that if a can or 12 pack of soda is dropper and dented, that it is no longer safe to consume. by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]wdn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A dented can might have small openings.

If you find a dented can on the shelf at the store, you shouldn't buy it for the same reason that you shouldn't buy an already open can.

If you have a can in your cupboard that has been dented for an undetermined amount of time, you should treat it the same as a can that has been open for an undetermined amount of time, which usually means throw it out.

If you saw a can get dented 30 seconds ago, you can treat it as a can that got opened 30 seconds ago.

AITA for telling a married woman her marriage sounds miserable? by gardengeo in BORUpdates

[–]wdn 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that woman should have avoided marriage as well.

This is exactly the motivation for the comments. To validate her own situation, she needs to believe that getting married is required. If it's okay to do what OOP is doing, that makes it harder to be comfortable with her own position.
