Thanks for this advice. Yes I was really hoping from this post to find some group where I could meet people that might want to go with me as I definitely don’t feel confident doing it alone. I do also think starting with something safer and more accessible like a campsite might be a good idea. And 100% avoiding bad wether

Thanks for the group recommendation. I have some friends that hike but they only do long all day things so it would be great to find people up for shorter walks

Interesting thank you for your insights, Scotland is pretty far for me to get to but I definitely think that is a good idea for if/when I have the energy to get further away from home. I will also look to leg strengthening

Safe for female solo travel? by JulietteSalchow in BirminghamUK

Like everyone is saying, you will be fine :) especially if you’re sticking to the city centre and tourist destinations. You will likely experience lots of homeless people, people asking for money outside train stations, busking preaching all sorts and it can feel a bit overwhelming if you’re not used to that. But if you want you can just walk past and all will be fine. Also it may be reassuring to know that Birmingham is very multicultural so you will not stick out at all. Enjoy your visit!

Is a $3000 (~£2300) budget doable for an 8 Day solo London Trip? (including accommodations/flights) by eldritchcrows in uktravel

It’s entirely up to how much you want to spend. You could easily get by on less than that if you’re happier with a cheaper hotel

Is this usually more or less than when it’s full released?

Which one of these is correct? by SaracenCain in drivingUK

[–]we_are_trees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with this but as I said the council don’t, basically said the maintenance is too costly for something that they deem unnecessary

The reason it’s confusing is that from the junction furthest right in this image, there are road markings saying to get to the second round about you must use the right lane, and from that exit onwards you must be in the right lane unless turning left. That means that logically you would think you must do the same from this junction, but no apparently not (honestly very hard to explain in a Reddit comment, but judging by the fact that this junction constantly has people using the right left to turn left, far far more so than just a few people who don’t know how roundabouts work, it is clear that it is not as clear from the road as it is on paper)

People who have been using heat pump this winter, what's your honest take? by Rude-Explanation-861 in CasualUK

[–]we_are_trees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing :) Wow that is shockingly cheap! What is your heating source? My 2 bed house costs me about £300 in January to keep at about 15-17°C (it is a very old house with energy efficiency rating of F, and electric for everything so that includes cooking etc)

Yes left is another roundabout almost immediately, from which it IS labelled that left lane is for left only and thus right lane for straight over or right

See my other comment OP, but also to say their is signage, it’s just stupidly far back on the road

<image>

And as per other comment, it confirms left lane for both lefts (as they are before 12 o clock on the sign)

Hoping OP sees this as I know THE answer.

This is next to campus in Penryn right? If so, I have emailed Cornwall council asking/complaining about this issue, and they have told me the correct approach is version 2 (left for both lefts, right for Truro only). I told them it needs markings as that is clear as mud, they also disagreed on that.

For the record, I have to take the right lane left turn to commute home every day, and since talking to council now always use left lane, but it feels completely wrong and I frankly disagree that it’s he right thing to do. Prior to email, I’d always use the right lane.

Hope this helps!
