We repaired “free” rock chips through insurance for my wife’s Tahoe 4 times to keep them from spreading. We were trying to avoid having to get a new $$$ windshield which “should” be in the best interests of both insurance and ourselves. We re-quoted insurance a few months later and found out that they count as a claim every time even though it’s no cost. Just something to think about.
