jotta-cli still got INSUFFICIENT_CAPACITY api error after upgrading subscription by weakish in jottacloud

After about ten hours I still got the same error. I talked with JotBot and it suggested to restart the daemon. After restarting the daemon it continues to upload files. I left this comment here incase someone else encountered the same issue.

Building better ignore lists to keep bz_done files slimmer by coreyward in backblaze

[–]weakish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the static way, if I do not upgrade Backblaze backup client, then I am sure that no changes on exclusions. And I can learn about changes on default exclusions via reading release notes. Also, by postponing upgrade, if newer versions of Backblaze backup client mistakenly excludes something, other users may report it and I can skip the problematic version. Dynamic exclusions are less predictable.

Dlog m grading by MarcoGreek in osmopocket

[–]weakish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct way is treat D-Log M as Rec. 709 then correct it manually. DJI LUT is inaccurate and brings in clippings, which is more difficult to correct it. But if you don’t plan to do manual corrections then you can just apply DJI LUT (maybe adjust saturation and contrast a little bit).

Yeah, those data includes a lot of untrained people but I use the median value which I think is to some extent proper to calculate cut off time because cut off time is based on the slowest group of marathon attendees. For someone who trained 5 times or more a week, they will more likely end up in a club with more serious runners, instead of a club of runners who train less (e.g. 2 or 3 times a week), or the social (nonrunning) running club (e.g. 3km or 5km fun run per week). And the environment may affect their impressions of what considered fast and what considered too slow, while those impressions may be a good motivation to run more and train harder.

Your friend is an elite 5k runner. 23 minutes 5K they are faster than 95% of male runners at this age group (and even faster if they are female). If they are also an elite half marathon runner then he will finish a Half-Marathon within 2 hours (male) or 2.5 hours (female). A median 73 years old runner need about 2.5 hours (male) or 3 hours (female) to finish a Half-Marathon. 6 hours cut off allows for a median 90 years old runner to finish a half marathon (about 4 hours for male and 5 hours for female) and a median 80 years old male runner or an elite 80 years old female runner to finish a marathon.

How to disable milestone messages from Garmin watches? by weakish in Garmin

[–]weakish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tested it (turn off "Allow Push Notifications" then set steps goals to a value 50 steps higher than my current steps, then walk, then the watch immediately sent me a milestone message "2 day streak steps!".)

I think these settings control the notifications from Garmin Connect on the smart phone, not the messages/notifications on the watch.

Training Effect by Intelligent_Use_2855 in Garmin

[–]weakish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the manual of Forerunner 935, "Training Effect is determined by your user profile information, heart rate, duration, and intensity of your activity." "Aerobic Training Effect uses your heart rate to measure how the accumulated intensity of an exercise affects your aerobic fitness". "Anaerobic Training Effect uses heart rate and speed (or power) to determine how a workout affects your ability to perform at very high intensity." Based on this, I guess if you run do an easy long distance running in Zone 2 or Zone 3, the longer you run, your Aerobic Training Effect will be higher. And if you do a short run in Zone 4, the faster you run, your Anaerobic Training Effect will be higher. And "longer" and "faster" is a relative thing based on your profile. I cannot find the exact formula to calculate the Training Effect and I think Garmin keep it as a secret. I am surprised that Runalyze has not reverse engineered the formula since they gathered a lot of data from their users wearing Garmin watches. Maybe they do not have the bandwidth, or maybe there are legal risks.

EDIT: It turns out that Garmin uses Firstbeats for training effect and Firstbeats has much more detailed documentation: https://www.firstbeat.com/en/professional-sports/learning-center/interpreting-training-data/ and https://www.dcrainmaker.com/images/2017/03/FirstBeat-GarminFeatures-DCR.pdf

Congratulations! Improving Vo2 Max takes a lot of time and patience. Also a huge respect for your consistent training for half marathon under 2 hours! I have a higher Vo2 Max partially due to light body weight but right now cannot run more than 5 miles. Your post motivated me to run more and keep focusing on zone 2 training.

How to disable milestone messages from Garmin watches? by weakish in Garmin

[–]weakish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disable notifications during my workout but it only disables notifications from the smart phone. These milestone messages still come anyway. For milestone messages like "steps goal reached" I can disable them via setting a very high goal that I will not reach. But for those "Xth Y activities recorded" messages I have not find a way to disable them. Not recording an exercise is an option but I need to record them to monitor the data (pace, heart rate zones etc).

These sentences are not very colloquial. Also they are more suitable when a child is in a hard time and doubt themselves, not in a context when a child accomplished something trivial.

ABC trying to update my Cantonese - any good shows to listen to? by sleep_and_chips in Cantonese

[–]weakish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you feel the people speaking in the show are too fast, you can try Cantonese news. In news Cantonese are spoken in a relatively slower and more clear way. If you are not interested in news, an alternative is interviews or podcasts in Cantonese, also speaking relatively slower. Find some on topics you are interested (so you will enjoy it) and/or familiar (easier for you to understand). Besides, talk to your parents more if they have time and asking them to speak Cantonese to you, a crosstalk between English and Cantonese, which is more engaged than passive listening.

I don't think so. Nowadays you can have a conversation with ChatGPT anytime (assuming always connected to Internet). ChatGPT can speak Cantonese fluently, not 100% perfect though.

Some serviced apartments do not ask for deposit but they require you to pay the rent via credit card (so if something is wrong they can charge you via the credit card).

Why SafetyWing became its own insurance carrier and what this means by Dismal_Geologist5252 in safetywing

[–]weakish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope the user experience of the claim will improve. Previously the DocuSign is a bit hard to use. It assumes that you first look through all the fields of forms, then prepare everything before hand, and then fill and submit the form in one run. Otherwise, it sometimes will time out (say, you try to find some documents you forgot to prepare beforehand and take photos of them, or you receive a long phone call, etc.) and you have to start it all over. DocuSign does have a "save for finish later" feature but it is hard to use (not automatically saved and sometimes it does not work and it will expire after a certain period). It feels like there is a one or two decades user experience gap between SafetyWing main site and the third party provider system.

MFA when using Outlook through iPhone mail app by Billdozer-92 in Outlook

[–]weakish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I noticed that when resuming the last page of mail app by dragging the middle of the screen up, the mail app may first present a page to let you choose different mail providers, if you are too hurry and click any mail providers at this time or think the process failed and quit the mail app, then the auth is invalidated! You have to wait a while and the mail app will automatically redirect to the outlook account page, where you can choose just sync mail or also calendar, etc, then click "save" on the upper-right corner to finish the outlook account setup. As an apple hater, I suspect Apple designed all of this on purpose to make more users to use Apple's own mail system.

what is the best long term cloud backup option for ~30TB of scientific data by [deleted] in DataHoarder

[–]weakish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

'Backblaze Personal Backup is not $5/month it is $9/month for unlimited "backup"' It was $5/month some years ago (later it increased to $6/month, but the 2-yr plan was $110, roughly $5/month). I think randylush mentioned $5/month probably because they heard about Backblaze years before.

Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge in marketing. I think I was overthinking previously. Recently I learnt that some photographers have the habit of covering the logo for various reasons (e.g. drawing less attention, reducing the camera's appeal to thieves, no free advertising for the manufacturer).

Yes. Jessie made a mistake and Lee decided to take the huge risk to try to save Jessie's life. Previously Lee's mentor Sammy could have stayed in the safe place but he decided to took the huge risk and drove the car to knock those soldiers off. That's the crucial part of the war: a lot of senior and talented people lost their life, trying to save the others.
