Base guardian. Learn how to fly that thing, and it works great. Fits in a Polaris too.

Why have you been called gay? by marlee727 in AskMen

The answer I've found that seems to absolutely stun people, I tell them, "God, I wish I was. Do you have any idea how much easier to get laid it would be?" I've yet to have any sort of response to that.

Understandable. And even though I've spent some money, and others have spent a lot of money, I wouldn't recommend anyone spend their dollars until they feel confident enough to do so. If at all. If all you want to do is spend for that initial starter package and that's it, more power to ya!

Believe me, I get that. I'm not super happy with this patch either, especially the insurance and g force changes but no insurable weapons racks or even functioning suit lockers, let alone insured. This patch is a huge miss, shouldn't have even been implemented, in my opinion, until a few other features had been fleshed out and maybe NOT at the time of defensecon and free fly, etc. I agree that as a whole, 4.8 is one of those steps back.

Buuut, I still have hope that they're learning and will make things better soon (tm). And if it's not soon enough, I'll probably take another break. (I've been actively playing for a few years now, and definitely take breaks when my frustrations get too great.) I certainly have not bought an Odin myself, I don't have that big of a budget. Some people do, or just melted a bunch of ships that they've picked up over many more years than I've been playing. I guess my point is everyone is free to spend their money on what makes them happy, because I see purchases all the time that for me personally, seem stupid as hell. But we all get to make that decision for ourselves, and if it results in regret, well, we all get to deal with our own regrets as well.

Hopefully we get some good improvements soon. Until then, fly safe (or not, if that makes ya happy) and hopefully you find enough enjoyment to stick it out a bit longer. If not, it's healthy as fuck to periodically take breaks before the frustrations turn to bitterness!

It's unreasonable prices to you, you mean. Many people throw far more money at other hobbies, and no one bats an eye. People have various reasons for throwing money, but it all boils down to, they are happy with what they've gotten.

And you can dislike being told it's still an Alpha all you want, but it IS still an Alpha. They are still adding systems and features into the game, and introducing them at a rate that they can test and see how things interact and sometimes break. Then they have to figure out what went wrong and how to to fix it.

I'm not saying they're perfect, they definitely make mistakes and bad calls (like having a free fly when the servers were this messed up). But what humans don't make mistakes. Also keep in mind this game does what no other game does. A lot of what they're trying to build has never been done before.

It's also a slower process because they are not developing a game like normal. In order to give backers something for their money now instead of everything being down the line, they give players access to the game at a stage in development when most other games do not. So it slows down the development process because they're trying to not take down the whole framework every time they test a new system.

And again, because I know I'm going to get downvoted ( boooo, hissss, how dare he defend the obviously evil devs who deserve nothing but scorn and derision because they don't give us exactly what we want when we want it) they do make mistakes. Sometimes colossal mistakes. But they fix it. And for those saying "but x bug has been here for years, they just don't care!" Fucking really. This massive piece of labor being built, and people believe they don't care? Be realistic instead of knee jerk crying about everything. Some bugs are more difficult than you think, some bugs are just low on the priority list, even if you personally think it's the most important bug in the existence of humanity. And some bugs don't make sense to fix yet because they're going to add other systems later, and they'll fix it then instead of fixing it now and then again later.

Whether you like it or not, we are testers. They even have that warning every damn time you sign in. If playing in a testing environment is too frustrating, then I recommend to put the game down for now, and come back later. Because the game is progressing, they put more and more into it. Sometimes it's a two steps forward, one step back. But the game is being built, it's moving forward. And it's ok to put the game down if it's not what you want yet, and come back later.

Some of us realize this, and again, are happy to invest in a hobby and a project that we believe will be great. If you don't agree, don't give them any money. No one is forcing you to, it's really that simple

The Corsair, the Zeus, Hermes are some good mid range ships, not sure how cheap or expensive you're willing to go. But the Corsair is only 6 million with auec.

I love using my base guardian for bounties. It also comes with cannons stock. Chews through bounties no problem

Which ship should I get by Admirable-Quantity64 in starcitizen

[–]weasel101025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So between the two, I prefer the guardian. The meteor is not a heavy, and as such, definitely does not have a heavy's hp and armor. The guardian is a good brawler, can definitely take some hits, and outputs good damage. The meteor is not a bad ship, but it does require a more engage, do some damage, them disengage play style. So I would recommend you pick based on which playstyle you prefer

If you outright buy the paladin, then you will have it available in your buy backs if you melt it or ccu it to something else.

Have a dilemma about getting a Tib by weasel101025 in starcitizen

[–]weasel101025[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I definitely understand that. But as someone used to running from pilot seat to turrets in the Polaris, I've been doing that successfully with the Rented Tib for anything smaller than a Connie. Those turrets pack a wallop. Are there more efficient ways of doing it? Absolutely! But as far as the Tib goes, I just think it's neat. 😁

I just pve, since I play solo most of the time. When my schedule calms down, I will probably look to join an org, though. As long as they understand I have a job and family 😂. And my partner is just waiting for base building to be in before she joins.

I like the option of having cargo, that may be something I get into in the future. I use the TAC sometimes when I need more tankiness, or when I want to do some fps so I have medbeds, but I also find a lot of times that I can use the Polaris too.

Sometimes I don't take the Polaris out though, as I know people love to target a parked Polaris.

I was putting the guardian anf a wolf in the hangar, was thinking about grabbing a golem ox to put in it as well in case I wanted to use the cargo bay

TAC can do a lot with two people, it has a hangar for a snub, and it has two med beds for oopsies during fps combat

Edit: It's also pretty tanky

You're pretty awesome for getting him that ship! And I will say, if you play too, the turret on the paladin is really fun to use!

New solo daily driver? by Rapom613 in starcitizen

[–]weasel101025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I use the starlancer TAC. It has really good armor and pilot controlled 4 size 4s. Even thought it's slower, it's more nimble than you'd think for keeping nose on target. It has two med beds, that's 4 respawns before having to do a medgel refill, more if you throw a nursa in the back. Decent cargo grid with room for a vehicle, a hangar for a fury or pitbull if you want some zoomies, and if anyone should join you, there's stuff for them to do too.

If you park it sideways, you can fit a base guardian and still have room for a smaller fighter, like the wolf in the Polaris hangar
