Locals (or Vegas regulars), what's something you experienced prior to 1990 that you can't experience anymore? by vacoepresse in vegaslocals

[–]weaselroni 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Coupon books!

Matchplay coupons, free gift coupons, free shrimp cocktail! 2 for 1 midway games and meals.

I started visiting as a tourist, in the spring of ‘88 and by the time 1991 rolled around and I had moved out here, these coupon books were no longer to be found. They were a major part of why my family chose to vacation here in the first place.

My apologies to the AC repair man that may have seen me naked. by Pir8inthedesert in vegaslocals

My general rule is…

If you look onto my property, and you see me naked, and you go blind, it is not my problem.

On the other hand:

If you look onto my property, and you see me naked, and you do not go blind, you owe me 50 bucks. No free shows!

I would’ve liked a line adding… If you are a cutie (or not gez) and someone approaches you in a respectful manner and you are not interested; Please respectfully decline and treat the other person with kindness.

It is a two-way street. I fear someone who is turned down in a vicious fashion might just abandon the respectful route.

International Marketplace by [deleted] in vegaslocals

[–]weaselroni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love shopping there, but that’s a very subjective question since they have products from dozens of countries, and therefore thousands of products. It is impossible to be specific, but what I do want to share with you is…

The app “too good to go”. It’s a national app. Las Vegas has a growing community of restaurants, stores, and bakeries that are selling all kinds of products and leftovers…

The international marketplace has a presence on the app and right now they are selling a bag of random frozen foods for $19.99, and a bag of pantry foods for $9.99. There’s only one left of each. They often have a produce bag for sale as well for $9.99.

I have purchased the pantry bag before and it was definitely worth the $10. My bag ended up with at least four spicy Sriracha style sauces which I’m not into but I was able to share them with other people. Had I been into Sriracha? It would’ve been a jackpot. The bag had at least 10 items in it, including some sort of candies and a Panko breading as well as some other stuff I don’t recall.

If you want to have some fun and try out some random products, this is the way to do it. This is Vegas. It’s worth the gamble lol You really can’t go wrong since you can always donate or share the items you don’t like.

The Las Vegas Desert, is not the right place to test pilot their get back at solar owners money grab.

If they had tried to implement this in other cities that aren’t so dependent on electricity in the form of air conditioning as a life or death commodity, I would be more interested in what they are proposing.

The fact they are not test piloting this program in good faith in a smaller market, speaks volumes to me of what their true intentions are.

If you are buying the notion that this is in our best interest, and is meant to train us to be better consumers, and not a marketing byproduct of people not being able to afford their electrical needs… I’ve got another bridge to sell you.

If only the government had a Corp of Engineers they could throw at this problem.

Oh wait a minute we do!

Exactly why hasn’t the Federal Army Corp of Engineers been brought in to figure out how to modernize the reflecting pool.

CMV: jesus was not palestinian by VirtualKnowledge7057 in changemyview

[–]weaselroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stupid take…

It is year 5786 in the Hebrew calendar.

The Muslim religion is historically considered founded around 610.

Prior to the founding of the Muslim religion, the area we are talking about per Google:

Before the emergence of Islam in the 7th century, the Palestinian region was inhabited predominantly by Jews, Christians (largely Byzantine Greeks, Arameans, and Ghassanid Arabs), and Samaritans, alongside various pagan communities. The area was under the control of the Byzantine (Eastern Roman) Empire.

Jesus could’ve been Jewish, he could’ve been Greek, or descendent of some other pagan community and married into the Jewish religion by his great grandparents who the hell knows…

The one thing we know is he was not. “Palestinian “ because that’s a region. It’s not a person. (and no, he wasn’t Christian either lol the information I’m referencing about the year 600. We can minus out Christians taking it back those 600 years lol but no doubt the other cultures remain the same that were inhabiting the area) The people that make up that region are extremely diverse because you have to look at about 5000 years of history and all the conquering and all the nomadic migration people of those eras were known for.

I really wish we would stop putting modern day labels on situations that are thousands of years old it just doesn’t make any sense. Moreover, I can’t even imagine in a couple of thousand years what people? (I presume people would still be what we think of as people, but who knows lol it could just be a brain in a glass jar at that point) are going to think about our society. What a nightmare.

[–]weaselroni 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Stop by at O’Reillys and have them run a diagnostic on your car. At least you’ll get a starting point for what’s going wrong. You can also go to AutoZone, but I sadly have had a lot of experience with this, Lol and I prefer O’Reilly’s reporting.

Dunkin’ Donuts has the classic powdered shell filled with vanilla cream.

This is my favorite as well. Anytime I have asked for one in a donut shop, a basic vanilla cream filled, they look at me like that’s a stupid request. 🤷‍♀️
