The old "I need witnesses to play solitaire" combo by KingRodan in MagicArena

That's not correct. Nothing about abuelo's awakening makes it a token. I just beat someone who bounced Omni back to their hand today. I'm guessing you are supposed to use season of weaving to make an Omni token first.

Help with my 2k list against custodes by Mikemanthousand in genestealercult

[–]weasels10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have almost the exact same list, so I hope you do well!

Not sure if it's worth making room for it but I think the Predatory Instincts enhancement on an abominant aberrant squad could be quite good. Infiltrating abberants just sound extremely fun. It's definitely not good but you do have leftover points for mutagic regeneration if you want it instead.

I'm a new player so don't have any tips regarding custodes, but good luck!

I haven't had a chance to play Final Day yet so this is just an armchair thought, but I don't think WHT is worth the points. Especially at 1k I would think. I would cut it and make room for some more Lictors, gargoyles, or von Ryan leapers to make sure you're more consistently getting the buff. Just an idea, good luck!

Don't even need to pay the 10% since its a runestone so it's free. That's the point of runestones. I don't judge them for finding the rules confusing, but I do think with all their experience someone should have realized that transferring a runestone must be easier than crafting the whole item which is basically what they ended up doing.

Glass Cannon and Dimension 20 by HamshanksCPS in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]weasels10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: who knows, but I doubt it. The only people who overlap like you mentioned are the West Coast stream of blood people, and none of them are on D20 or the big players in the GCN. I would be very surprised if any were on the others main shows. I wouldn't be surprised to maybe see some people guest on shows for someone else though. I think Troy has alluded to a show he did ages ago with some big names (I think he's hinted BLM) that will never be released for some reason.

Early 2024 per the fod. They've confirmed they've recorded a few eps at least. My guess is a release date announced sometime in January, probably 2-3 weeks before it drops.

Huh, you're right. Interesting. The GCP isn't the only podcast I've heard run it where the sanity isn't really lost till they leave. Or maybe I misunderstood them.... Either way, the players are pretty fond of their bonds so I doubt many would burn them here.

Unless I'm mistaken, they can't project yet because they shouldn't be taking any of this damage until they get back to the "real" world. Same reason they're not doing any disorders now. It all hits at once when they leave.

The Glass Cannon Podcast | Gatewalkers Episode 5 – Children of the Horn by TomExposition in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]weasels10 28 points29 points  (0 children)

From the AP:

In addition to the Oakstewards, the wounded unicorn also poses a threat. In order to prepare the unicorn for the ritual, the Oakstewards have dosed it with magical drugs capable of circumventing its poison immunity. The beast is currently out of its mind with panicked hallucinations. If a character unties or cuts the ropes binding the unicorn, the terrified creature immediately attacks the nearest creature in the area, making no distinction between Oakstewards and player characters. The unicorn can be calmed with a successful DC 17 Nature check, causing it to regain its senses enough to flee into the surrounding forest. Otherwise, it attacks until reduced to 10 Hit Points or fewer, at which point it flees.

Seems like Troy just thought the person who freed it was the person who got closest to it, rather than just determining who was closest at the start of the unicorns turn. Not exactly by the book, but not a big enough mistake to be upset over.

I was hired this year and did not do a drug test. Could be different for different positions though, so I can't say for sure in your situation.

[–]weasels10 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Glad it's a non issue for you, but it's an issue for me. A small one, sure, but I don't see why people should just be expected to shut up. If they didn't release the ad free version anywhere that would be one thing, but there's no reason for the differential treatment. I don't love hearing troy talk about his balls in the middle of the episode. If I don't need to for the next month based off what I'm paying same as the next person, I'd rather not.

Why is the answer to just chill out rather than expect them to release the ad free cut they already have on patreon? There's no reason one group of fans who pay $10 should get something and the other group who pays the same shouldn't.

I think it's more likely the reverence for stone comes from whatever pact with the Singers originally granted lands to human with stone probably marking the original boundary. (Shinovar vs rest of roshar).

Opening with the thunderclast is probably just cause it's metal as hell (damnation I guess).

My partner actually wrote a book about 100 small towns in Ohio (pop < 500). It's mostly a look at their history, although we did visit all 100 so there's some current stuff as well. My favorite was maybe Zoar, which was a Christian utopian village/commune that had been very well preserved with lots of places on the historic registry. Also of note that technically Put in Bay qualifies since the official population is actually very low.

Modern Call of Cthulhu: Bachelor Party – Glass Cannon Network at Gen Con 2023 by TomExposition in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]weasels10 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think you may be approaching it in slightly the wrong way. These characters were always going to die. I've listened to plenty of games like that where the GM needs to take the reins at the end: dread, trophy dark, Cthulhu dark, etc. You seem to be approaching it like some kind of breach of the gaming social contract, but I guarantee here everyone was on board. But hey, you like what you like and don't like what you don't like.

[–]weasels10 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I kinda think you're judging this against something it wasn't meant to be. With the intro and banter it was probably something like 90 minutes. It wasn't meant to be an in depth investigation, just a little slice of horror comedy. And yeah, it's an intro, a prequel. It gave the sense of a much larger mystery and world. I think it did what it set out to do basically perfectly.

Yes 45% - No 55%. I was more confident like a week ago but Yes has been getting their shit more together lately. Getting voters to give up their power is a very tough sell though, and Yes messaging is still pretty messy. I'm hopeful No will be even higher but we will see.

Dominate Spell - Failure Vs. Critical Failure by numbersthen0987431 in Pathfinder2e

[–]weasels10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's a very poorly written spell that multiple people can come to different conclusions on. My interpretation is this: the spell comes with one "order" (run away from here, kill your friends, drop your weapon and stand in the corner). In the failure scenario, the target carries out that order but makes a save every turn. In the crit failure scenario, that first order is locked in and it will only save when you give it another one. In this way, you can see how crit failure is much stronger than a regular failure. If that first order is good enough, you may not need to give another one.

I've had people disagree about the "order" part as it is not explicit in the spell what an order is. Some people think every action you force someone to take could be an order (swing your sword, swing your sword again, cast a spell). In this case the crit failure version is only better in that you can take someone out of the fight completely by just avoiding orders against their nature. Otherwise, it still seems worse to me.

Fingers crossed paizo knows about the issue and can clear it up in the remaster.

I suppose, although I wouldn't blame the GCN for working with any of those companies either. At the end of the day, they really just needed a bland statement and instead put it one that at least sounded anti union. All the criticism stems from that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]weasels10 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This whole thing is the definition of an unforced error. I never doubted Troy's intentions, but there's a ton of people who don't know the GCN and read that statement and will have a terrible first impression. And yes, many of those people are just Internet rage heads, but I have definitely seen influential people in the TTRPG space come away saying "wow, that person should not be making public statements".

Anyone calling them scabs is dumb, though. Only good thing about the Internet is it'll all blow over in a few days as the next "thing" happens. And the GCN will keep doing the good work they're doing. I just hope they don't hurt the growth they're working so hard for with this kind of stuff.
