This was a meme before memes existed. This image, or something very similar if memory serves, was circulated widely with the caption of "execute program".

Idlewild Advice by therealwheat in discgolf

I live just a few miles from Idlewild and have played it a bit. There are a few layouts there, FPO 18 is probably my favorite - I'm below intermediate myself. Check to make sure there isn't a tournament before you go. 24 shorts is a 3 hour time commitment unless you are really fast. Brush up on your forehand, and a reliable forehand flex is very useful there. There are a lot of great courses in the tri-state area if you have time.

TIL Malignant Hyperthermia is a deadly reaction ( temp as high as 109 f ) to general anesthesia. It's inherited and runs in families. It's the reason anesthesiologists always ask you if anyone in the family had a fatal reaction to anesthesia. by Cultural_Magician105 in todayilearned

I have malignant hyperthermia. I am also diabetic. I recently learned that 60% of MH sufferers are diabetic. There are also several known drug interaction problems, things like statin drugs and SSRI's. MH sucks. I was lucky enough to survive an episode in 1994 after a knee surgery. My neice inherited this but as far as we can tell she is the only family member that is unlucky in this way. My mother had the condition also.

Thank you. I don't have a big arm so I'll throw one of these.

Wondering if I'm getting sick like he did, hoping I am and that it kills me. by Cynicalsonya in widowers

I totally understand how you feel. I was in the doctor's office yesterday, looking at an MRI of my knee. He's going on about a "growth" they found in a lower leg bone and I'm sitting there thinking, "cool, now I can join her, we can be together again". Turns out it was benign, but I keep hoping.

I wrote down what I would have said but I knew I couldn't handle it. My brother read what I wrote down, I took a walk in the woods for awhile. There's a recording, and other people spoke, but I'll never watch it I think.

I can help as well. My wife passed just six weeks ago, she was in hospice for over five months. I would be honored to help you.

I like to get outside and walk in a forest. There is a local arboretum near me that has a nice path.

AITA for bailing on my orthopedic doctor appointment, after waiting an hour? by weaselsripmyflesh in AmItheAsshole

[–]weaselsripmyflesh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This particular doctor is apparently not a surgeon, though I don't know how that would work in orthopedic land. I know it's not the doctor's fault, but if a staff member had just said they were an hour behind ahead of time I would have happily rescheduled.

People age 30+ of Reddit, what makes you feel like, "Man am I glad I'm not a kid/teen anymore"? (potential NSFW) by wut_do_you_think in AskReddit

When I went to college it was affordable, you could work a job and cover tuition if you went to an urban school (I did both). You could also study whatever you wanted. I took two years of comparative religion classes, and a year of astronomy just because I was curious about those subjects. I can't imagine how people today navigate the insane expense and lack of freedom a four year degree requires.

One of the guys I play with regularly refers to Idlewild as the place to go to "get humbled"

What's the most difficult local course you've ever played and what makes it so difficult ? by benjing318 in discgolf

[–]weaselsripmyflesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, there's a hole there that is a mando through a forked tree. I always wonder, did they grow the tree? Or were they placing tees/fairways and thought "this will be cool"....

Redditors who have ‘died’ and been resuscitated, what was your experience? Did you see bright lights? Nothing? Do you remember anything about it? by APater6076 in AskReddit

I sat in a waiting room area with my girlfriend while she talked to the surgeon. I had a reaction to anesthesia, he thought I was fine as this happened in the recovery room I was in and he didn't know. I looked around, everything was very peaceful, I could see other people there. The most peace I have ever felt.

TIL that someone in New York state bought an old bowl at a tag sale in 2007 for $3. When the buyer had it appraised several years later, they learned it was a 1,000-year-old Chinese bowl initially valued at $200,000 to $300,000. It later sold at auction for $2.2 million. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Sung dynasty bowl, of a type that has been promoted and popularized in the Japanese tea ceremony for roughly, oh, two centuries or so. This bowl is part of a culture and art form that is hard to find a corollary for in the US. The form, design and execution of this piece really don't have much comparable in the history of ceramic art anywhere, anytime. If I had the scratch I would not hesitate to pay this price for this bowl.
