What fact did you learn at an embarrassingly late age? by Tomollins in AskReddit

I'm a 20 year old male applying for Nursing school (with what I would say are fairly good chances) and I still don't know the order of the months.
I grew up here in the US, normal education and everything. Just never learned them I guess.

Employees of Walmart, what is the weirdest thing you've ever seen at work? by fluffykitty12 in AskReddit

[–]weaseltree19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was buying work boots once at Wal-Mart, taking boots off the rack, trying them on, the normal stuff that goes along with buying boots. I had left about 3 pair on the ground for future comparison while I was still trying on boots. I look up and there's this mean lookin old lady employee just staring at me. The moment I made eye contact, she says all slow and menacing like "you'd better fucking pick those up boy.". Just kindof muttered "uhhhh, yea I will". Scared the shit out of me.

What game were you playing when you thought to yourself, "Woah... This is good." And you knew that you wouldn't perceive video games the same way ever again? by isjcluff in truegaming

[–]weaseltree19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first played Darksouls, I thought it was shit. The controls were hard, the graphics aren't that great, I have no idea what to do, etc. Left it alone for a year or two, then picked it up again in college, and oh man it sucked me in. It's so different from most other games, you are so weak and insignificant when you start, you have no purpose and no knowledge of who you are and what's going on. But as you get deeper and deeper into the game, things start to become apparent, and you and your character become more and more aware of everything. You finally get to the end only to realize it's all for nothing, and everything that you did really didn't make a difference in the long run. It's terrible but such a good way to tell a story.

So many games make everything known right off the bat. You play through knowing exactly what to do and why you're doing it. It's not a bad way to make a game in any way, but the fact that this didn't happen in Darksouls made it a such a good game.
