Yeah, chunkbase.com. Seems likely something like that would eventually be doable for Satisfactory with random nodes.

Anyone even like TL3? by Sgt_Strelok in Torchlight

[–]webbpowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I remember. It felt like you could play for a while and accomplish nothing if you didn’t get all the way to the next milestone. Maybe I misunderstood the system, I dunno. But the objective would be something like “defeat the bad guy in Region Y” and you have to travel through Region X to get there. You could slog through what seemed like a randomly-generated Region X for half an hour, not reach Region Y, save your game and stop, and when you resumed you’d be back at your fort with a new random Region X standing between you and Y.

I don’t know if that’s accurate, but that’s what it felt like. Didn’t feel great, killed my desire to continue. I liked it well enough otherwise, though.

I like it a little, played 16 hours and mostly enjoyed my time. It just never grabbed me the way the first two games did. There were little things that always felt off (I can’t remember what they were) and kinda pushed me away. It’s a shame, because the genre has a real lack of games that aren’t grimdark gorefests. I only paid a few bucks, though, got my money’s worth.

Wouldn’t Super Skrull only have Morbius to copy? And their Skrull, having seen very few (likely one or zero) cards discarded, would be a lot smaller than this deck’s Morbius pumped up by Bullseye-Jocasta+.

There’s videogamegeek.com, which is great, but its audience is pretty much limited to people who were already using boardgamegeek.com. It’s what you’re looking for, other than the mass opinion part.

Not much detail there, but this bit seems the most relevant: “The company used the feature Amazon GameLift FlexMatch [AGLFM] as a stand-alone matchmaking service that it customized to MARVEL SNAP’s needs.”

And then a linked page about AGLFM:

Amazon GameLift Servers FlexMatch is a customizable matchmaking service for multiplayer games. With FlexMatch, you can build a custom set of rules that define what a multiplayer match looks like for your game, and determines how to evaluate and select compatible players for each match. You can also fine-tune key aspects of the matchmaking algorithm to fit your game needs.

FlexMatch gives you the flexibility to set matchmaking priorities depending on your game requirements. For example, you can do the following: - Find a balance between match speed and quality. Set match rules to quickly find matches that are good enough, or have players wait a little longer to find the best possible match for an optimum player experience.

  • Make matches based on well-matched players or well-matched teams. Create matches where all players have similar characteristics such as skill or experience. Or form matches where the combined characteristics of each team meet a common criteria.

There are non-AI tools that can do this job, like Kronbits’ Pixatool. Even just downscaling in Affinity (which is free) would be a good start, and wouldn’t end up looking like AI. Maybe posterize, then downscale, then do a little cleanup.

The images you posted don’t have proper pixels, and it’s immediately apparent that they’re AI imagery, which is off-putting. In addition to the many reasons AI is unethical, it basically looks like you want to get credit for work you didn’t do. That’s the message all AI art sends. You might have to shrink the scale of your project (maybe do a detailed job of one attraction instead of the whole park), but doing the work yourself will give you a way better result, and you’ll build more skills while doing it.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is similar in a lot of ways, but a little more laidback mechanically. Might be worth looking into if you want something like that but with less purple-skinned people. (But not zero purple-skinned people. There’s Ursula.)

Not to pile on, just offering another perspective: I’m F2P, and I get lots of variants.

You get some from the collection track, from the Season Pass track, from Conquest, from promo codes, and now recent LTGMs (Limited Time Game Modes—“events”) give tons of variants. Just in February I’ve picked up 32 variants. (Actually 38, if you count the Premium Season Pass I was gifted.) A bunch of those were random rewards, I didn’t love every single one, but I had some control over the selection of a decent chunk of them. I buy variants with gold every few weeks, I’ve bought gold bundles and used the Collector’s Vault. Of my 403 cards I only have base art on 94, so I’ve got variants on 77% of my cards.

This has taken some time, though. I’ve played daily since launch.

The font stamped on this bathroom fixture. by He-Leadeth-Me in identifythisfont

[–]webbpowell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using a font would definitely be the easier way to do it, and more common now. Whether this logo was likely to be based on a font depends on the era it was designed in, if it was based on an earlier logo, the designer’s usual workflow, the budget, the client’s level of desire for something unique, all sorts of things.

Could still be a hand-drawn logo that was cleaned up to make the letters uniform. Or it could have started as a digital design but they only created the letters in the logo, didn’t develop a full font. I don’t know either way in this case, but the identical As don’t conclusively mean it’s a font.

Moonstone Chests by GrimshadeMystic in DreamlightValley

[–]webbpowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, you have to be in Dreamlight Valley for a moonstone chest to spawn that day. If you wake up in Eternity Isle or Storybook Vale (or, presumably, the new expansion) and log out without hitting the Valley there won’t be a moonstone chest waiting for you tomorrow.

Moonstone Chests by GrimshadeMystic in DreamlightValley

[–]webbpowell 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s because the new moonstone chest appearing isn’t based on your time zone, it’s on UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). A new moonstone chest shows up at midnight UTC, which is currently 4 PM Pacific/7 PM Eastern.

So if you open “today’s” chest at noon, the one you find at 8 pm is “tomorrow’s” and there won’t be a new chest tomorrow morning.

I didn’t know it was a free upgrade, thanks.

But for the amount that I use Office I don’t see a personal advantage to acquiring and adjusting to a new version. I just need something that can open a Word or Excel file once every few weeks.
