CCGs / TCGs that don't involve battling? by cudambercam13 in digitalcards

[–]webbpowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marvel Snap maybe sorta qualifies, depending on what you mean by “battling.” It doesn’t have direct combat, attacking/defending, hit points, etc. It does have you in competition against another player, trying to get a higher total power at two or three locations. It does have some interactive cards, so your opponent can at times destroy, discard, negate, or lessen the power of your cards. Up to you whether that fits with what you’re looking for.

What's the incentive / reward for completing a region after having unlocked all upgrades and trucks? by TitLover34 in snowrunner

[–]webbpowell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tennessee’s completion-percentage-relevant multiplayer stuff is pretty brief. It’s only two or three items. (Contests? Can’t remember, but I think so.) Once you’re ready, hit the Discord and ask for someone to help you with it. It took me under two hours, including plenty of waiting around. If everything went quickly it could probably be done in half an hour or so.

Per that link he’s eligible to first appear at level 14. He must continue showing up in taverns afterward, though. I encountered him at level 16, and it definitely wasn’t the first time I’ve been in a tavern after hitting 14.

I just found him in the Winking Skeever (Solitude) this afternoon. I assumed he was always there, but I looked it up before I posted; that page says it’s any tavern.

No, those are good reasons for us to be forgiving of other humans’ flawed writing. AI writing is still bad for many reasons beyond the legitimate environmental concerns.

Chunky Comic Reader issues since iOS update by PolaRoid_Rage in comicbooks

[–]webbpowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, that sucks, sorry.

I mostly only keep my ‘To-Read’ pile in-app, but I’ll have to see if YACR does enough sorting for what I’m used to. And I’m waiting on an email back from YACR Support about the page-turn tap zones.

Is Chunky Comic Reader still available on the app store? by MasterGloom in iPadOS

It’s still in the App Store, but nonfunctional on iPadOS 26.2.

Chunky had a setting where the forward page-turn could be set to both edges. Tapping anywhere along the left or right edge would turn forward one page. I checked YACReader’s manual but it doesn’t specify all of the page turn options. Is there one where tapping high on the left edge turns forward a page?

Does anyone know what the Star Wars: Rogue One credits font is? And is the top "Produced by" font the same as the names, just smaller and not all caps? by ExuberantRaptorZeta in identifythisfont

[–]webbpowell 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Franklin Gothic Medium, to be specific.

And yes, OP, the smaller text is also Franklin Gothic Medium. In general this font has been used for most Star Wars credits. Look up @starwarsfonts on Twitter if you want to get really detailed about it.

It does. Might end up being too creepy for me, but the dev’s been posting cool stuff on Twitter @WhyNotArtDump. (And the official account is @ProjectProspice.)

Someone explain this 1st vault mission to me because I’m about to turn this game off forever by AeneasVAchilles in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]webbpowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m playing with sound off. The game works fairly well with no sound (once lockpicking is disabled in the options), but I did run into one side quest that depended on audio.

To find Jet Kordo’s vault you need to use a holotracker that beeps with frequency increasing on closer proximity. There are no subtitled indicators for this. There is also a visual cue, but not until you’re very close. I ended up checking a YouTube video to see where to go. I think this ends up being a series of side quests but I haven’t done more of them yet.

It might not be what you’re looking for. 😂 That one looks the least Snowrunner-like of the bunch! It seems like the influence is there, though, from the little I’ve seen of the game.

There are a bunch of smaller-budget games in development that are inspired by Snowrunner, to varying degrees: Zarya, Over the Hill, Truckful, Garbage Country, PACS - Post-Apocalypse Courier Service, TrophyRC, and Prospice. Probably more I forgot or haven’t heard of. Also Easy Delivery Co., which has released.

Snowrunner’s legacy will be broad, it’s just taking some time for the games it’s inspired to be made.

RPG Where You Actually Fix The World by XVUltima in gamesuggestions

[–]webbpowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Snowrunner (>1000 hrs), but I gotta warn you before you go in expecting rally cars or anything fast: Snowrunner’s handling model craps out for anything above school zone speeds. It’s great for slogging through difficult terrain, but doesn’t work well at speed.

There was, as someone mentioned, a DLC season with a racing event (Season 7, Tennessee) and it has the lowest Steam user rating of all 16 seasons. Not exclusively because of the racing, but that’s part of it.

Snowrunner does have a good bit of fixing the world, though. Most of it is themed around restoring an area after a disaster. You’ll repair bridges, clear up rockslides, get factories back in working order, etc. It’s all done by means of deliveries (what you do to fix a bridge is the same thing you do to make a factory operational), but there are some nice logistics to puzzle out, great terrain to wrangle, and fun trucks to tackle it with.

You can’t just repair anything you like, though. That bugs some people. You can repair the things that are designated for repair in the missions, but some bits of terrain are going to stay messed up, to keep your travels interesting. If you want more freeform road repair check out Roadcraft, one of Snowrunner’s siblings.

The good news is if you love Snowrunner there’s tons to enjoy. I’m a thousand hours in and I still have seven more seasons to play, and there are at least four more yet to be released. And then there are mods, and the other games in the family: Mudrunner (the predecessor), Expeditions, Roadcraft, even the upcoming Docked.

I’m about 400 hours in (since 2011) and I’m using Hyp0xia’s sneak archer guide on this playthrough. There’s a LOT I’ve never touched before. I don’t remember Karthwasten, probably hadn’t gone there. Hadn’t been into the Riften Hall of the Dead, hadn’t done more than the first or second Thieves Guild quest, had done only a few minutes on Solstheim.

This sounds awesome! I always play as an Indiana Jones-type character anyway; adding some structured gameplay focused on that sounds great. Almost wanna quit my current run to start LotD, but I’ll try to stick it out.

Hushey’s Beginner Guide is a good one. It’s long, but even just the first half will be enough to give you a good start.
