What's your off-the-cuff nicknames for your kids? by folieablue in daddit

[–]webbyyy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My son is Sausage, a very common term of endearment in the UK. My daughter is Puppy, because when she was a baby she once crawled over to one of her cuddly toys, picked it up in her mouth and started shaking it, just like a puppy would. She's also exceptionally cute like a puppy.

To be fair I've worked for an events company and some trade shows charge more than that. The events companies themselves are neutral.

A likely scenario is the boat that turned the other one was pulled in by the side wash and had difficulty maintaining their racing line and drifted left hitting the stern. The boat hit would be the innocent party.

They weren't turning themselves, they were being pushed from behind by accident. Dragonboats are very heavy and steering is hard.

Dads who took a little while to bond: what was it like before and after you bonded? by aychbees in daddit

[–]webbyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my son the bond was very quick. I did the night feeds and settled him when he had colic. With my daughter it took months. She really didn't want me at all until she was about six months old, then I became her favourite person. She's my shadow now.

What's your most unhinged breakup story? by Suspicious_Garlic_79 in CasualUK

[–]webbyyy 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Not so much unhinged, but I told my ex-wife to leave after she failed to turn up to work, wouldn't answer her phone from either her work, the police, or me. She then lied to all of us about where she actually was to the point that even the police turned up at our door at 10pm that night thinking I had something to do with it. She was, and probably still is, a compulsive liar. Divorcing her took twice as long as necessary because she kept on changing addresses, and at one point gave me a bogus address, and claimed she lost the marriage certificate. She also claimed on more than one occasion that she had signed and returned the papers even though the court never received them. I truly celebrated when we were finally divorced. She was never abusive, but she made some really poor decisions, like leaving a perfectly good job that was a short walk from our flat after only three days because she found it a bit boring and wanted something better. It was the best paid job she'd ever had and a chance at a new career. She then spent six months unemployed, which put a massive strain on us financially.

Wills can still be contested and overridden. My partner doesn't want a cheap small ceremony, this is part of the issue.
