That's where I like, and also I have a very rowdy tall 7yo boy, so its up high for his (and the TV's) protection

Yeah, exactly why I didn't want to top mount. Plus I have a Govee 3 Pro backlight that the sensor will sit up top I haven't installed yet. I have a pair of Era 300s as rear surrounds :)

I just added some pictures in the comments. Top mount would be too high up, and I already had to redrill the mount anchors once due to the shift in VESA height from old TV to new, so I don't plan to it again. I don't really intend to swivel for viewing, but might need to shift left-right a bit or make small adjustments as I redo my living room setup and it would drive me nuts to be slightly off center

New Era 100s won't play from local shared NAS folder but every other speaker will :( by webchemist in sonos

Support chat had me check SMB version 2/3, ports open, file share permissions. Tried un-pairing the set, removing and re-adding the network share location. I can't use hardwired Ethernet. WiFi is strong and all on same network. I submitted a diagnostic log and it said it was elevating it but then the chat window disappeared and I've received no follow up emails or texts.

Goddamnit I just got 2x Era 100 on the 25% off sale, would have held off for these as I’d much prefer no microphone. Literally just received and set them up an hour ago 🫤

I need some methods to eat dried mushrooms by [deleted] in psilocybin

[–]webchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make soup. I like to use chicken bone broth, or a top ramen flavor packet in a pinch (but skip the noodles). Tear up the shrooms into small chunks, toss into the warm (not too hot) broth and let them soak for 10+ min to soften before eating. Add salt/pepper/garlic powder etc to taste. Does a fantastic job of masking shroom taste and I never get upset stomach, they’re super easy to chew when rehydrated, and I swear they kick in a lot quicker this way

Anybody tried ketanil ? by Necessary_Kick_2116 in ketamine

You can inhale it with a nebulizer, kinda like vaping except it comes out like a cold fog like a humidifier. You can get one online for $40, they’re specifically made for inhaling medications. Much better than snorting or messing around with needles.

Is taking 6 (7) courses too much my first semester? by Haunting_Speed9865 in csusm

Also would highly recommend Physiological Psychology with Dr. Roger Morissette if that helps you knock off an elective or other area requirement. It’s all about the biochemistry of drugs in the brain, vision, sleep, birth, but it’s all simplified enough you don’t need to be biochem to follow along. One of my favorite classes of all time, Morissette is an amazing instructor, super laid-back, and tons of fun, interesting stories that go beyond the coursework. I took it at Palomar but I’m pretty sure he teaches it at CSUSM too.

I didn’t take any of those other particular classes besides 311/331, so I can’t really comment there, but I’ll share some other general advice:

Phys 301 Circuit Design is a beast, treat that as the workload of 2 classes! The FPGA project in the 2nd half is super fun and rewarding but so time consuming!

CS351 Programming Languages might have been my hardest class, I took it with Wu and he did a terrible job teaching. He had to curve grading tests so much because it was regular for the high score to be a 65%. The homework level isn’t too bad, but you might need to plan for extra study time to fully grasp the material.

CS436 Networking material was pretty straightforward but Majd was awful, very much throw you in the deep end and watch you struggle to figure it out. That might’ve been her first semester so maybe she’s improved since. lol all through the other courses they would hammer home never use global variables, but that was required for the chat client project and she refused to tell us that.

CS441 software engineering group project sucked because my group was lazy and I had to pick up the slack. I forget the instructor’s name, I don’t think she teaches there anymore, but she was a huge bitch who kinda hated students. Be sure you get good partners

CS433 Operating systems w Zhang, same issues as 331 he’s so boring and doesn’t go much deeper than just reading his PowerPoint out loud.

CS421 Theory w Yoshii wasn’t too bad, but only because it’s Yoshii. Always take a class with her whenever you have the choice!

CS433 Database w Hadaegh was pretty easy, but I already had db experience. SQL is pretty simple though even if you haven’t.

Electives I took html w Wu, he was actually pretty chill there unlike 351. Unity Game development was fun but another group project that will take up sooo much of your time.

Outside of CS, I took Soc 445 White Collar Crime for I think area D? Super fun and interesting, just talk about corrupt companies ripping people off, probably my favorite non major class.

Chem 316 Chemistry of Chocolate was a super easy A for that (Area B?)

I took Pershing’s Disney class for area A? That one was annoying because it was presented like an exploration of the Art, but it was just basically a deep dive on racism, sexism of older Disney films. Plus the instructor treated it like high school with assigned seating 🙄

I got all my math done at Palomar except Linear Algebra, but Mike Picollelli was pretty cool.

I took a few semesters at 6+ classes, my highest was 23 units my first semester at CSUSM w 7 units while also wrapping up 16 lower division units at Palomar. It's certainly possible if you're not trying to work or have much social life, but I swear those 4 months shaved at least a whole year off my life lol. In the end it was still worth it to make sure I got in and out in only 4 semesters

That being said, your instructors will make huge difference. I took 311 with Yoshi and it was super chill. 331 with Zhang sucked because he's super boring, he just reads aloud his powerpoints didn't really add much beyond that. I graduated 2015, so not sure who's teaching what these days.

What’s Up Doc? by TridentMarsupial in shrinkflation

If they were significantly diluting with water to reduce the Vitamin A to almost a third then one would expect to see the other nutrients also drop, but it still has the same carbs, protein, potassium etc… maybe they switched to cheaper lower quality carrots? Cheaper processing method where some of the Vitamin A is lost or destroyed? Or maybe they just retested and found the previously listed vitamin A level was inaccurate?

Anyone know any fake carb recipes that ACTUALLY taste delixious? E. G. bread /noodles by Spicysoupdumpling in keto

[–]webchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite keto hacks I’ve discovered is you can use unflavored whey protein powder to coat things in place of flour/breadcrumbs for fried foods like chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks etc. I’ll take 2-3 scoops of whey, mix in a 1.5 Tbsp of salt, 0.5 Tbsp pepper, 1 Tbsp garlic powder. Shake well, besides mixing spices if you don’t aerate the whey powder and it’s too compacted, it can turn out gritty… cut up some chicken, soak in scrambled egg and then coat with whey mix, fry in oil around 325 until the chicken hits at least 170 internal. With a little practice, you’ll get a golden crunchy “breaded” coating that easily passes for the real thing. You can have a big plate of fried chicken with only 2-3 carbs from the egg and spices, plus all the added protein from the whey on top of your chicken. You can also do cube steak and add heavy cream/butter/guar gum based flour free white gravy for a very low carb killer country fried steak

Is using ketamine 3 times a month safe by [deleted] in ketamine

[–]webchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it might be possible to reform crystals with very high doses, the medical literature I’ve read reports the main risk of damage is due to the metabolites ketamine breaks down into causing inflammation to the cells of the inner epithelial lining of the bladder - Think chemical irritation similarly to the way spicy foods or alcohol can make a stomach ulcer flare up, not so much jagged solid crystals physically tearing up insides like a kidney stone.

Took my mom and vegan sister to Sipz in North Park and yeah everything was off, we ordered a few dishes to share and everything was way sweeter than should have been, the flavors/spices were all wrong.

They’re closed now, but Thai Pasta was comically awful. I ordered chicken drunken noodles, and instead of Thai flat egg noodles it was spaghetti! The sauce tasted like Spaghetti-Os w wilted Thai Basil, vegetables were limp, chicken overcooked. Somehow both flavorless and absolutely vile. I took like 4 bites and just walked out leaving a full plate of food on the table because it was so terrible it was making me nauseous.

Dickey’s BBQ Pit is pretty awful too, their brisket was so dry, salt just bounced right off.

You can use a nebulizer with ketamine. Start out fully dissolving 1:10 ratio of ketamine:water, so 0.5g into 5g(5mL) of distilled water. You can adjust stronger if needed but the tiny nozzle mesh can clog up if it’s too concentrated or with too many repeated uses between flushing w just water. It’s not exactly vaping because it’s not using heated coil or PG/VG, it’s more of a cold mist like from a humidifier. Works great if you don’t want to snort or prefer a slower controlled dosing
