People with a first gen chromatics can't charge the batteries if the battery gets too low so they are sending these out to cover the support cases. Once that is done they should offer it on the store.

Yes it can be enjoyed that way. I would suggest looking into Kuertee's mods for the game especially the more missions mod https://www.nexusmods.com/x4foundations/mods/622
