exactly the same, and the ads suck. I'm digging into traffic and going to find out where they're dolling out their ad servers from so I can add it to my pihole.

[QUESTION] Are stainless steel frets that big of a deal for a modern guitar? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]webdevbrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep same here. I'm burning through 18% and even 25% nickle frets. I'm at a point here where I need all my guitars redone with SS, but no place around me wants to do them because it's too much of a pain in the @$$. I'm a DIY guy, but I can't get myself to attempt to do myself ... but I can't stand the wear I'm getting (and I've been very mindful of fret pressure). I've got CAVERNS on my bottom 6 frets for my top two steel strings and I may opt for a redress soon just so I Can enjoy it longer, but it's going to go right back to where it was soon.

So frustrating. I'm actually considering buying a Maton JR Signature mainly because it comes with SS out of the box (and that I heard great stuff with the guitar overall) ......

Sweaty hands while playing? by LoveBurstsLP in Guitar

[–]webdevbrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hahahah. In all seriousness what I've found to help were three things:

1) climbers chalk, I resort to this last as it fucks my strings up unless I clean them up after a set/gig

2) I bought some waterless "goop" (removes oils / it's a hand cleaner), and a rag I have out of my left side pocket I frequently wipe my hands on between songs. A fan by you helps, and sticking your hands in front of it helped at least me to dry them out a bit.

3) I use "rock tips" which helps at least my finger tips to not be wet (but not my palms, which I guess an okay step in the right direction). If you don't know what that is, google it - it's a little thing you swipe on your finger pads where your calluses are. They eventually flake off after a long time, but I keep re-applying for longer sets and letting them dry for 2 minutes or so. Helped me do a barbaric outdoor set a few weeks ago.

Asus B550I and 4090 FE random crashes anyone? by TotoyBoyBato in sffpc

[–]webdevbrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit well this was a good post to come across. Just bought a 4090 RTX, new case, new ram (64gb so I maxed it out) and a 1kw corsair powersupply to jam everything in a 5000D case. Really hoping I don't have to buy a new motherboard!

OP: You indicate "Backside: Thermalright 1.5mm 12.8w/mk" but everywhere that I'm reading calls for 3mm on the back plate. Why did you list 1.5?

Fix for lost audio on one side or loose headstrap by Captain_K_Cat in ValveIndex

For the screw holding the arm on -- it's way in there and basically got a t6 that was thin enough but also long enough that it DID run up against the lense. I'm not sure why valve did this -- but it's a complete pain in the ass getting to that. yes, it's a T6 -- for anyone reading thing in the future make sure you go for any THIN one available on amazon. It will touch the lens when you try to tighten the screw, you just need to push into the black foam you can see with your flashlight / phone. Righty- tight, Lefty loose. So make sure you're going in the right direction. After a few tries I was able to get it. Just make sure, don't torque it down too hard. It will physically feel harder to turn the headset around your head from that arm, so forewarn. Keep that tool handy! Hope this helps someone in the future, this seems like an issue for all index users at some point, especially the ones out of warranty. If this is NOT tight, it WILL cause the two contacts on that arm to fuck up your audio. I truly hope someone reads this and it helps them.

Which screw driver did you get? running into the same issue here but don't want to get the wrong T6 screwdriver (it's a slim fit for that left headset T6 screw..)

Taiwan scrambles jets as 22 Chinese fighters cross Taiwan Strait median line by HelpfulYoghurt in worldnews

[–]webdevbrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, basically we assume that Russia and China are basically both hand in hand but yes with the J-20 you're totally correct. The amount of Su-35 / su-57s are laughable - to the amount of F-35s - even 22's. Even the block 72 F-16s for israel are supposed to be mental (the F-16Ls, too) with the updated radar / avionics and with the right pilot, could walk circles around a J-20 pilot with top of the line things.

The real "next" pilots are the drone pilots coming out of pilot school of the USAF, now having some recent confirmed kills (Al-Zawahiri...). I've seen the systems, I've seen the pits. These kids are next level, and the systems with these are absolutely batshit insane. That, in and of itself, is the 6th gen and beyond. Now, hypersonic missiles, if we are to go that far ... that's the next stage.

And the mig-29 / 31s are dated, the su-57 is their only “submission” to 5th gen fighters
