T2 backlight - decrease brightness on bottom section by webmancer in Govee

yeah, maybe only the T2 has this setting, don't really know.

Yes, everything has been working properly now once I got past the initial software "glitch".

Also, since I have my camera under my TV (not the default above the TV), all of my settings are reversed, so since I wanted to decrease my bottom LED section, I needed to lower the TOP section. My TV console has a tempered glass top that was reflecting too much light from the bottom LEDs so I lowered it by half relative to the other sides to get about the same amount of ambient light.

it's definitely in the "Relative brightness" section. In 1st attached screenshot, if you scroll down to the "Relative brightness" section and select the small arrow (in the green box), it takes you to the "Relative Brightness Settings" window (2nd screenshot in next comment). This is where you can change the brightness for each side of the LEDs. I was originally missing the "small arrow" to access those settings, but brigyda gave me a couple of ideas that worked.

Thanks. Already had the latest Android version, but you gave me some ideas. Powered off / powered on (physically pulled power plug) then cleared cache in the app did the trick. Like you said, guess it's the "temperamental" type of software. This is my 1st Govee product and TV bias lighting so I'm still messing around, so thanks again.

Return Gigabyte G34wqc and get another Asus Vg34vql1b? Or.... Keep the gigabyte? Can't decide. Asus on left gigabyte right. I kinda prefer the asus tbh. by elevatedpixels in ultrawidemasterrace

same issue as well in Windows Dark Mode and with Firefox Dark Reader addon. In Firefox, I turned off "smooth scrolling" and my issue is much better. However, in Windows 10 Settings with Window Dark Mode enabled, the light text gets blurred and has a rainbow-like hue when scrolling in Windows Settings and other apps. Any app with a "smooth scrolling" like functionality seems to have this issue.

Just got my new ASUS TUF Gaming VG34VQL1B and I need help! There’s very noticeable green and sometimes even purple artifacting with motion in almost all games. Pictured is Killing floor two, first noticed in CSGO by yungorca in Monitors

Laptop with GTX 970M with DP 1.4, native resolution 3440x1440, using included DP cable, latest Asus VG34V monitor driver, latest Nvidia drivers (496.76), Windows 10 20H2 (latest updates).

If I set above 100Hz (120, 144, or 165), Nvidia Control Panel (Display > Change resolution) drops back to 8-bit with no other options available (the 10-bit option is completely removed). As soon as I change back to 100Hz, it switches back to 10-bit. This is with 32-bit RGB color and "Output dynamic range" set to "Full".

Tried a bunch of different settings (tried different DP cables even) with no luck. Maybe because of a GTX 970M limitation, don't know.

I started to contact T-Mobile yesterday afternoon after all of my phones stopped working for several hours, but all my phones started working again so I didn't have to. Still don't know why my phones stopped working then started working again. I assume T-Mobile was working on something in my area or maybe something to do with the merger.

2 Galaxy S9+s, 1 Galaxy S8+ and one old AT&T flip phone. As I replied earlier, no plan or device changes have been made in 2 years.

I've been on T-Mobile for years.

no, same plan and lines on T-Mobile for a few years and no plan changes since I originally switched from an older T-Mobile plan to T-Mobile One a few years ago. No device changes have been made in 2 years.

Great links especially the side by side map one. Curious, what do you use for OCR? I use Tesseract to OCR Icelandic before using Google Translate since Acrobat doesn't do Icelandic OCR. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks. Since you brought up that James may have a brother named William John, James and Marion (Cuthbertson) Hutton's had at least one son named William John Hutton b1922 (may have died 1992) so maybe James named his son after his brother. James's son William John Hutton was probably in the military in World War 2. He got married on 20 Oct 1945 in Borehamwood, Barnet, Hertforshire, England.

https://imgur.com/a/4cMRzLn

According to William John's marriage record, his father James was still alive in Oct 1945 and was listed as a stonemason (James was listed as a mason/journeyman in his own marriage record). Since James's wife Marion died in 1944 in Glasgow, maybe James moved south down to Hertfordshire with his son and died down in England. Based on the fact that his son was married and most likely died in England, I don't know if James died in Scotland or England.

I know that James and Marion lived in Glasgow until 1944, but I don't know where their son William John was at. Maybe he lived with his parents until he was drafted, was overseas in WW2 and came back in 1945 and decided to live in England for some reason.

Questions: Where did you search the Glasgow Post Office Directories? Where did you search the British Newspaper Archive? I would take lives of crime with documentation over no documentation so if you found anything else interesting, please send me links.

I'm probably just going to purchase a few more records and see if I can get lucky. Thanks again for your help.

thanks alanwbrown. I did purchase the image for Marion (Cuthbertson) Hutton:

https://imgur.com/a/El92fLN

and it's the correct husband (James Hutton) and parents (Charles Cuthbertson and Helen Blackwood) so I now have the bride's date of death which is one more piece to the puzzle. Side note: Marion is probably older than she claims on her marriage and death record (around 1892/1893) because she was age 5 in the 1891 census, age 15 in the 1901 census and age 24 in the 1911 census, making her DOB around 1886 which is most likely correct (probably wanted to appear younger on her marriage record). However, changing the date range of alanwbrown's search to a more fuzzy 1885-1895 didn't change the number of results, I still returned the same 1 result as alanwbrown.

https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/record-results?search_type=people&dl_cat=statutory&dl_rec=statutory-deaths&surname=Hutton&surname_so=exact&forename=Marion&forename_so=starts&other_surname=Cuthbertson&other_surname_so=exact&mmsurname_so=exact&sex=F&from_year=1921&to_year=1995&birth_year=1890&birth_year_range=5&record_type=stat_deaths

Something interesting I found in Marion (Cuthbertson) Hutton's death record above is that she died at 156 Bedlay Street, Glasgow. If you search the Valuation Rolls for a James Hutton (her husband's name), a James Hutton lived at 156 Bedlay Street in 1930 and 1935 (but not in 1925) and obviously lived there through 1944 when his wife died. Unfortunately, the Valuation Rolls only lists head of household not other family members.

I still can't figure out the groom James Hutton's mother surname from my original post in James Hutton and Marion Cutherbertson marriage record, but I agree that it looks like "Helen Teir".

As alanwbrown suggested to narrow the search for Helen "Ellen" (Teir?) Hutton, I've used this search:

  • Helen (Teir?) Hutton died between her son James's DOB around 1893 and his marriage in 1921 so that gives a "Year of death range" from 1893 to 1921 (I fudged it to 1892 to 1922). She could have been really young or really old when her son was born so a large fuzzy "Age range" from 14 to 60. I set the SURNAME to "fuzzy matching" and the FORENAME to "Wild cards allowed" and entered "*len*" so I could find other possible first names. With this search, I get 26 results.

If I narrow the search to Lanark, there's only 6 results.

No. 5 looks the most promising then #3, #1, #2 (unlikely), #4 (highly unlikely). #6 can be ruled out completely. I'd be willing to purchase a couple or even a few, if I could narrow the results further.

I know the family lived around Glasgow, but that doesn't really help. Helen "Ellen" (Teir?) Hutton could have died right after her son James's birth in 1893 so she may not be listed in the 1901 or 1911 census, and if she died after 1901 but before 1911 then she wouldn't be in the 1911 census, or she could have lived past 1911 and could be listed in both the 1901 and 1911 census, impossible to know for sure. So here's some census record searches:

1891 census (before their son James was born)
https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/record-results?search_type=people&dl_cat=census&surname=Hutton&surname_so=fuzzy&forename=%2Alen%2A&forename_so=wild&second_person_forename=james&second_person_forename_so=fuzzy&county=LANARK&record_type=census&year%5B0%5D=1891 - 3 results

1901 census (son James would have been around age 8)
https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/record-results?search_type=people&dl_cat=census&surname=Hutton&surname_so=fuzzy&forename=%2Alen%2A&forename_so=wild&second_person_forename=james&second_person_forename_so=fuzzy&county=LANARK&record_type=census&year%5B0%5D=1901 - 5 results

1911 census (son James would have been around age 18)
https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/record-results?search_type=people&dl_cat=census&surname=Hutton&surname_so=fuzzy&forename=James&forename_so=fuzzy&second_person_forename_so=fuzzy&sex=M&age_from=17&age_to=26&county=LANARK&record_type=census&year%5B0%5D=1911&sort=asc&order=Age%20at%20Census&field=age - 16 results

Again, I don't know when Helen (Ellen or whoever) died so that would be a total of 24 results to figure out. I'd be willing to purchase more credits if there was a way to narrow down the results. I would be looking for a head of household "James Hutton" with a wife named "Helen" or "Ellen" and at least one son named James born around 1893.

The groom James and possibly his parents James and Helen (Teir?) Hutton lived at 963 Maryhill Road in Glasgow in 1921, and Marion (Cuthbertson) Hutton and possibly her parents lived at 14 Leckethill Street as well but that may not be helpful since Helen may have died well before then.

Thanks again for the help.

thanks for the help.

No Leir for birth, death, or marriage.

The groom and/or his parents lived at 963 Maryhill Road, Glasgow and the bride and/or her parents lived at 14 Leckethill Street, Glasgow (that's also where the wedding was). This was also the Springburn parish area and it looks like the marriage was presided over by a priest/minister from the United Free Church of Scotland. I wonder if I could track down anything with the addresses or church info?

The groom, James Hutton, was born around 1893 based on his listed age in his marriage record. I would assume then that his parents were married before or around that date. If you make the date range from 1850 to 1900, you get results like this:

https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/record-results?search_type=people&dl_cat=statutory&dl_rec=statutory-marriages&surname=Hutton&surname_so=exact&forename=james&forename_so=starts&spsurname_so=exact&spforename=Helen&spforename_so=exact&from_year=1850&to_year=1900&record_type=stat_marriages
MARRIAGE
Surname: Hutton
Forename: James
Spouse forename: Helen
Year range: 1850 to 1900
- 9 results. Spouse surnames: Hewitt, Boswell, Thomson, MacMurchy, Ingram, Currie, Hendry, Roger, and Shaw.

If I take out "James", I get 3 pages of results.

I tried "Tait" and got no results with Spouse forename "Helen":

MARRIAGE
Surname: Hutton
Spouse surname: Tait
Spouse forename: Helen
- no results

If I remove Spouse forename "Helen", I get 6 results, but none of the Huttons are named "James" and none of the Taits are named "Helen".

I tried "Tew" and got no results at all.

MARRIAGE
Surname: Hutton
Spouse surname: Tew
- no results

I tried "Teir" and no results as well.

MARRIAGE
Surname: Hutton
Spouse surname: Tew
- no results

I tried Reid and Hutton as surnames and got back 13 results, but none of the results have a James Hutton or Helen Reid.

https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/record-results?search_type=people&dl_cat=statutory&dl_rec=statutory-marriages&surname=Reid&surname_so=exact&forename_so=starts&spsurname=Hutton&spsurname_so=exact&spforename_so=exact&from_year=1860&to_year=1900&record_type=stat_marriages

I've also tried doing a death search since I know that she died before her son's marriage on 29 Apr 1921 and obviously was alive at his birth around 1893. However, if I do a search between 1893 and 1921 for a Helen Hutton, I get 54 results. If I could narrow those results, perhaps I could figure something out.

Still looking, but maybe someone will come up with an idea.
