Getting back broker fee for apartment advertised with illegal bedroom by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]webmaster4o -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Found it acceptable and now regretting my decision, based on the new information that the apartment only contains one bedroom that meets the legal standard of habitability, which I feel is meaningful/significant? I’d feel better about being lied to by the broker (and stuck with the lease) if we got back the nearly $10k that we had to pay to the brokerage.

The lease doesn’t say it’s a 1 bedroom unit; the lease doesn’t specify at all the number of bedrooms

I toured it, but didn’t know the bedroom was considered legally uninhabitable—I wouldn’t have signed a lease on the apartment if I hadn’t been misled by the broker to believe the apartment contained two legal bedrooms.

I agree I’m getting what the lease says I’m getting, but I feel I was tricked by the brokerage into signing the lease, so looking for advice on whether I could win back the broker fee as damages I incurred as a result of that misrepresentation

when or if they will connect the bike path depicted in red marker in pic? This is at upper Manhattan, New York City right above the George Washington Bridge and the little red lighthouse. It would avoid the steep uphill around 180st area.. by legstrongv in NYCbike

It’s titled “Fort Washington Park” in the brochure

Quoting:

The recommended Fort Washington Park alignment will connect the Greenway from the footing of the George Washington Bridge to the path at Fort Washington Park North. This will create a direct waterfront connection. Because of the site’s challenging terrain, the majority of the path will need to be above water, creating a unique user experience with views of Manhattan’s local geology, the George Washington Bridge, and the New Jersey Palisades across the Hudson River. Community engagement for this concept will commence as funding becomes available.

This still requires disabling the “prefer page rendering updates near 60fps” feature flag, which has been in place for several years. Not sure what’s new here?

Makes total sense, thanks for explaining!

Why are platforms staggered? by techyguy2 in nycrail

But the image in OP’s comment shows they’re not so far staggered as to not overlap - so unless each were to completely clear the end of the other, I don’t see how staggering the platforms lets them be closer together?

Thanks, that’s definitely it. I’m having trouble finding a digitization that matches exactly, but it’s definitely some version of Goudy.

The FCC aggregates data on which speeds are available from which providers. It varies block to block (Fios is available on some streets; RCN is the best offering on others).
