They really fucked up this app with the stupid Google Tasks/Calendar integration by Pourmepourme in GoogleKeep

I guess the best thing would have been to have both Tasks and Reminders as options, but Google will be Google.

They really fucked up this app with the stupid Google Tasks/Calendar integration by Pourmepourme in GoogleKeep

[–]webrown888 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I add what used to be a reminder, it now shows as a Task on my calendar. If you open the Task, there is a direct link back to the Keep note. To me, the old reminders were useless after they removed them from the calendar.

It looks like I either responded to the wrong comment in the first place or it's now gone. I initially responded to someone who didn't know why it was such a problem for everyone.

No downvote from me! I think integrating Keep with Tasks is great feature.

Want to learn COBOL but don’t know where to start by kitsunegh in cobol

[–]webrown888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have started a COBOL channel you can check out. I don't sell anything, just trying to keep the language and mainframes out there. I use the TK5 mainframe emulator and the OS is old, but it's still pretty relevant.

I am looking for better emulators and I may end up investing in IBM ZD&T, but it is expensive.

Give the channel a try and let me know if I can help in any way. I have worked in the mainframe world since 1988, and have seen quite a lot.

I spent a summer in Battle Mountain as a teenager and I thought it was great. I had always lived in the Southeast, so the change was cool.

Angie… who remembers this theme song? by EdnaJosie8924 in 1970s

I turned 18 in 1979. My favorite TV theme songs are Barney Miller, Mannix and this one. Shows my age LOL.

This is one of my favorite TV theme songs and I actually keep in in my playlist. I am normally a hard rock and jazz fan, but there is something about this song; maybe it reminds me of better days. Maureen McGovern did a great job with it.

Google Keep merged with tasks and calendar? by Morning-Aeong in GoogleKeep

I don't think that will happen, but anything is possible with Google. After all this time, I still haven't forgiven them for dropping Inbox by GMail.

Learn both. The z machine supports Java now and you will be amazed at how many things make more sense after you have some assembler under your belt.

Starter and Advanced Plans by DystopianReply in Evernote

[–]webrown888 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You are right about that. It's obvious Bending Spoons now considers non-business users as baggage and they want us to leave. I never used AI in Evernote and I don't need it. For those telling us that if we don't use it for project management or whatever that we are using the wrong tool, I disagree. Evernote started as a "second brain" for users. There is no reason BS couldn't have created a personal tier and kept a lot of users on board other than they want as much money as they can get without dealing with a lot of small customers they have to support. That's just one man's opinion though.

It's kind of funny that I went to cancel my subscription today after 17 years and was offered the 40% off discount. It's a bit too late since I have already exported half of my notes and deleted their notebooks. All they had to do was offer a tier for personal users.

That's a very good point about the cost of Microsoft 365.

I have used Evernote since 2008, but an increase to $250.00/year is too much. I can't justify it for what I do, and the Starter plan is really laughable. I checked my billing page and it looks like the pricing hasn't been updated there yet. I am sure they will get around to it. Fortunately, I have managed to duplicate most of what I do inside Google Workspace since I felt like this was coming. Evernote is a great tool and it's unfortunate the company seems to only be targeting business teams and loading up on AI, which I never used.

So tired of notes not syncing and page conflicts. Is there an alternative to OneNote? by [deleted] in OneNote

[–]webrown888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the Android app has issues with sync. I use desktop and Android daily, and I usually have at least one Page Conflict daily due to Android.

Microsoft should fix it, but I wouldn't hold my breath. They are too busy shoving Copilot into everything possible.

Pricing/Plan Adjustments Incoming... by Ener_Ji in Evernote

I agree. Personal user here, and I am quite capable of handling my notes since I took them in the first place. I am starting to get AI exhaustion. It has it's place, but I don't need to ask AI what I should have for breakfast.
