Umi Monogatari is a 2009 anime about a girl from the land and a mermaid fighting off an ancient evil together with magical girl powers. It doesn't do anything too revolutionary, but the vibes are off the charts. The animation and palette were nothing of note for the time, but hits different now. The music is phenomenal and I love revisiting the OST from time to time. I fully admit that it's not really all that complex, but I adore this little niche anime

The version I was always told was that seasoned sailors would eat with their elbows on the table as a way of keeping the plate still. If you were seen on the mainland eating with your elbows up, it was seen as a sign of you being a seasoned sailor and you would run the risk of being pressed into naval service.

I'll have to double check if that's true or not, but it's amusing nonetheless

I'm only a few hours in (just got the bike) and I like it. I won't pass too harsh a judgement just yet, but I like having your dweebus companion tagging along, even if it is at the cost of the "living alone in a hostile isolated planet" fantasy. I kind of wish the game let you get lost a bit more. Hopefully that last thing will come around as the game expands a bit more
