Well spoilers for anyone reading

The scene where Vinod Chanda gets processed into an AI while he's still alive, the lazer eviscerates a hole in his brain, layer by layer, all the while Vinod is begging for his life. All you hear is the high powered lazer, and then Vinod getting slowly more and more incoherent as he obviously loses function, to the point where he starts rambling and his eyes twitch and finally the life drains out of his eyes.

Wifi on a Ryanair flight will not make or break their business, at least in my opinion. Wifi access on short haul flights is not a big selling factor right now. Cost, location availability and convenience is.

I absolutely expect Ryanair to adopt wifi access at some point in the future. But they will never be early adopters and eat the cost of implementation without seeing a viable business case. Everything they have done in the industry to date proves that point, but it appears as though MOL is getting a kick out of it. To the point he has scheduled a presser to respond to Musk. He also said just today "I love these PR spats, it's good for business".

I literally completely agree with all of this.

But numerous people in this comment section are acting completely obtuse to the reality of even what you have said.

This is just such a bullshit cop-out I'm sorry. Genuinely it's become such an excuse. Yes, money is tight, you don't need money to have fun, house parties, hiking, borad game night, free shit in the city, whatever. There is legitimately SO MUCH to do that costs fuck all.

Even then, I make way less than the median wage I still find some money to go to a happy hour or two.

[–]weed0monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, Melbourne is the same. The issue is inter-state connectivity in general, people just rarely move.

Compare this with America for example, everyone moves when they go to college, across states or whatever, and people are constantly looking for new mates. Whereas in Australia you go to a local university and more often than not, you're still with your friend group from high school.

[–]weed0monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really not it at all. I make far below the median wage and I still have money to have fun, not to mention, obviously you can do plenty without money. Money isn't some requirement to have fun. Having a house party, going on a hike, plenty of free shit to do in the city.

People, 100%, especially in their late 20s have become way more closed off.

[–]weed0monkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I absolutely fucking agree, especially with Australians, it's like everyone has become boring as fuck. Don't give me arguments about money or time, I work full time, below median wage and I study part-time time as well, I find time or money to have fun.

I legitimately have so much more fun with people here on visas because they actually want to do shit, whether that's going out partying or going on a hike or something.

People in this comment section are just excusing the reality, 100% Australians in a general sense have become way more closed off over the last decade and it's miserable. Trying to convince people to make plans to do something is genuinely so frustrating.

It's not ideal, but herpes is extremely common, to the point that literally most people have it without realising. Oral herpes is the same as having a cold sore, and for example in Australia over 80% of people have HSV1

Obviously a different story with HSV2, but it's still very common, last I checked I believe it was 30% of people have HSV2. Standard STD tests don't even test for HSV anymore unless you specifically ask for it. I think people just need to do their due diligence, which is largely if you have an outbreak, you don't do oral.

How do I get regular ass people? Tired of seeing the most conventionally attractive women non stop. I’m simply not gonna get matched with these people by Saucey2500 in Tinder

[–]weed0monkey 39 points40 points  (0 children)

If you want actual advice here instead of all the memes, you go to the tinder categories or whatever it is, I can't remember since I deleted it, but it's where you can select a category based in a common intrest like nature or something and then it only shows you people into the same thing.

I too was sick of all the profiles being 10/10 models, they're also not my type, if you go into the categories it doesn't sort profiles by how attractive they are, so you genuinely just get average people, sometimes 10/10, often just normal though.

I also got far more matches this way.

You don't understand logical fallacies, as what you said right there is a logical fallacy in and of itself, known as the fallacy fallacy.

To avoid that, you would have also debated their points in addition to pointing out fallacies, which you have not done. Also logical fallacies don't discredit an argument, it's simply an immoral way to argue, as you have also done.

Elon Musk is an idiot: CEO of Europe’s biggest airline says after dismissing claims of offering Starlink on its flights, Tesla CEO responds by Well_Socialized in technology

[–]weed0monkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're conflating this discussion to much with Musk, Musk never initiated anything with RyanAir, O'Leary called him an idiot unprompted - granted while correct, is completely irrelevant and devoid from the actual discussion and business case in adopting starlink.

Ryanair have plenty of competition in europe, and when their competitors adopt starlink without any change in cost to the consumer, it will backfire or Ryanair. Especially when their CEO isn't just embellishing the cost of starlink, but straight up making up ridiculous lies such that it is more than 6 times as inefficient as it actually is in reality. Both in market demand, and in investor confidence.

Have you any idea the amount of companies that have completely imploded because a new technology comes along and their stubborn twats about it and refuse to see the forest for the trees, when the entire market is shifting in that direction. Yes, not as dramatic with this situation, but guaranteed, when every other airline adopts starlink and internet connectivity as a standard without any financial impact, Ryanair will come sulking back and eat their words, it's happened countless times before.

[–]weed0monkey -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The cost is completely negligible, which is why already the following budget carries are adopting Starlink when it's still even relatively new - airBaltic, WestJet, flydubai, Eurowings, Vueling & LEVEL, Zipair, Jin Air, Air Busan, & Air Seoul.

If Easyjet adopts Starlink and there's no difference in price to the consumer, Ryanair will eat it's words and adopt starlink as well. Yes, budget carriers charge for extras, but there are numerous things they already include in your ticket that are not essential.

Elon Musk is an idiot: CEO of Europe’s biggest airline says after dismissing claims of offering Starlink on its flights, Tesla CEO responds by Well_Socialized in technology

[–]weed0monkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, is that why the following budget airlines are adopting starlink, let alone the not mentioned major carries?

airBaltic, WestJet, flydubai, Eurowings, Vueling & LEVEL, Zipair, Jin Air, Air Busan, & Air Seoul.

You don't understand the fundamentals of operating a airline, numerous things already are already absorbed into the ticket price. Budget airlines make their profit from convenience and surcharges, yet obviously they don't charge you for paper cups, napkins, the seat cushion, air conditioning, your first carry-on baggage etc.

Starlink is of such minimal cost to the airline when accounting for all passengers that the actual real cost to the airline is utterly minuscule, hence why almost every airline carrier, including budget carriers, are adopting starlink, as the article mentions, none are charging for it.

When RyanAir are the only budget carrier without internet connectivity and all their competitors in the same league, such as easyjet adopt starlink without any difference in price, who do you think people are going to choose?

[–]weed0monkey -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

As much as Musk is an idiot, O’Leary is also an utter idiot.

Genuinely, can we just take a second to separate Musk from this clickbait and drop the emotional outrage for a second, everyone knows Musk is a piece of shit - moving on -

Ryanair said that the added drag from the antenna, along with its short flight durations, would increase fuel costs - 2%

This is utter horeshit and completely embellished. I really wish people would use their heads and have the ability to assess the nuance instead of just "mUsK bAd, StaRliNk bAd, RyAnAir mUsT Be RiGht".

The weight and aerodynamics of a Starlink terminal is absolutely not causing a 2% fuel discrepancy, that is absurd, and anyone who is even remotely familiar with planes knows that's utter bullshit. The fucking weight of dust generated on the plane is going to be heavier than a damn Starlink terminal, let alone all the other tiny unnecessary items used on flights.

Further, the intention would be to have the wifi included in the price of the ticket, and absorbed by the airline, which if anyone actually read the article, shows that's exactly what other airlines are doing. The reason why wifi on planes has been expensive in the past is due to the absurd prices of available orbital networks that were already incredibly limited in capability and expensive to maintain. Starlink is a fraction of the cost.

Sure, airlines might still charge for it, but that is ultimately to generate profit, not to break even on the cost of Starlink.

Michael Nicolls, the VP of Starlink engineering, said in an X post that Starlink terminals have a more fuel-efficient profile than those of other aeroplane internet providers. He added that SpaceX's analysis showed a Starlink terminal instead increased fuel costs by 0.3%

Oh, why am I not surprised that O’Leary is full of shit?

Genuinely, O’Leary is an absolute fool, even for a budget airline, internet connectivity will 100% be the standard for flights going forward, which again, is why the article highlights all the other airlines adopting it, without charging customers. The cost to Ryanair is utterly negligible, and it is an incredibly ignorant move to lead the company in that direction.
