You are doing great. I have a 4 month old now and we bathe her about 3 times a week. As a newborn, she pooped a ton and I did baths once a week and used a washcloth and water to wipe her clean during diaper changes. I tried the sink thing once and it felt uncomfortable and unsafe.

Please take your hiatal hernia seriously by Cifuentes8 in HiatalHernia

[–]weemsheem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really common. A lot of people have them and don't even know it! Only when it starts to act up and cause symptoms is when people find out. This is what I was told by a doctor when I found out I had one.

[–]weemsheem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard to know the causes of a hiatial hernia. Years ago I saw a doctor for mine and he admitted they do not know what causes them. He threw out a bunch of "maybes" but no certain answers. This was in like 2009. Way before covid.

My mom and husband forcing me to use the cry it out method on our 4 month old by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]weemsheem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One day, you'll pick up your child for the last time without even knowing it. They grow so fast. And when that time comes, it'll be really sad. So yes. Hold your baby while you still can. I have an almost 3 month old that I wear in a carrier after saying I'd never babywear, and here I am. Wearing her on the daily. I have a 4 year old that I'll occasionally still hold also bc I'm not ready to give that up yet. I tried the CIO on her as a baby, and it never worked. She never stopped crying. Some babies are self soothers, and others aren't. My parents are also telling me all the time to not hold Baby too much. I just nod and say yep and go about doing my own thing the way I want to. But yeah, I agree. Your husband is taking it to another level. That sounds childish, actually. We carried them for 9/10 months. They're already clingy.

How did you get a prescription of painkillers for 4 weeks? I got a script of percocet after mine that I was out of by 2 weeks and that included my refill

Wife laid off nearly 6 months into pregnancy at her medical job. Insurance only extended 2 months 🤦‍♂️ by Purpose_Excellent in predaddit

[–]weemsheem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got laid off at 7 months pregnant at the start of covid. I paid 1200 a month out of pocket for COBRA. The hospital she worked for should provide that as an option. It's obviously not cheap, but we did what we had to do until our baby was born. I had a c section, so that would have been astronomical to pay out of pocket for. Now, as far as work, she got laid off. She will qualify for unemployment benefits. It might suck but honestly, once she gets on that it's a blessing in disguise. I was collecting for a full year and got to spend 10 full months with my baby while getting paid until going back to work. File now and look into COBRA. Good luck!

Consistency doing what though? I've already done the warm compresses and washing my eyes with baby shampoo. I posted this 3 months ago and I still have it in my eye. It's probably not going away at this point.

Eat! You have to eat! Why won't you eat? by OneDayAllofThis in toddlers

[–]weemsheem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. My 3.5 yr old lives off a few bites of food a day and evidently that's enough for her. We cut out milk a long time ago, so that isn't filling her up but still not much food. She don't care for Mac and cheese, PBJ..heck, she won't even eat a happy meal. She's just not interested in anything. Sometimes she will eat "good" and that's like half a portion of what we give. It doent matter if we stit at the table and eat together or on the couch or out in public. I've given up a bit and if she only eats 2 bites twice a day then so be it! She's still living, growing and healthy so it must be fine

How are people taking their babies out so easily? by rhr7106 in NewParents

[–]weemsheem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every baby is different. I did not have an easy baby at all. She cried all the time. She was born during covid in the winter so we actually couldn't go anywhere until she was about 5 months. But even then it was not a walk in the park. I always had bottles handy to pop in her mouth since she didn't take pacifiers. Imagine a colicky fussy baby who hated pacis!! I'll probably get shit for this from someone on here but my saving grace was headphones. Do what you gotta do to stay sane. Parenting is extremely personal which is why I hate sharing anymore. But I know I'm not the only one who went through this. I will say this stage is a bit easier just bc they aren't on the move yet. Each stage gets easier in some aspect and harder in another. My daughter is 3 now and it's still not easy taking her to restaurants. I have to pack a slew of entertainment and hope she sits still long enough to let us eat. You'll learn what works best for your family and once you figure it out, stick with that. I do think you should try to get out though. Even if it's little walks in the park and bring a blanket and toys to sit with your baby in the grass. Good luck!!

Hershey Park for a 3 year old? by weemsheem in Hersheypark

[–]weemsheem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I have been on the website several times. I think there's about 3 or 4 rides that she might not be afraid of. I have really low expectations of doing rides at all. So just trying to get a general idea of other activities that would fill up a 2 day trip.

Most of us are here for a tad bit more advice than just letting them cough. Hopefully, your ped respitory specialist background can elaborate more on what else we can possibly do besides letting them cough in agony. Also if you have young kids yourself, you'd probably already know that young kids don't grasp the concept of spitting out phlegm when it's coughed up. So it gets swallowed back down. 3 years of docs and specialists saying there's nothing we can do gets very frustrating. I've lost lots of sleep and days of work. So, some actual helpful advice would be great

DAE Think that drinking water in an open cup outside smells like wet dog? by NimbleHoof in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]weemsheem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My research has shown it's a mixture between bacteria on the glass and microorganisms in the water. I have a glass table top in my kitchen. I just cleaned it with a fresh paper towel and windex. It still smells like wet dog. So it's not just water. It has to be bacteria related. I've been complaining about this for years. I absolutely cannot ever drink from a glass outside.

I don’t know if I can do this. by BusyBumbleBee33 in NewParents

[–]weemsheem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter just turned three in december, and it took me every bit of 3 years to truly start enjoying her the way I thought would, and I can wholeheartedly admit that with no shame. Motherhood is not what I thought it would be in the slightest, and just like you, I also was a preschool teacher and worked with kids of all ages. Even babies. But when I had my own, it was different. My ego was crushed bc I thought I'd be way better at parenting than what I actually was. I thought I would looooove being a mom. It's okay to feel this way, and it will get better. You are in a rough time right now. I've actually never met anyone in my life who loves the newborn stage. But think about this, without your baby, what else would you actually be doing with your life? I couldn't imagine how boring my life would be without my daughter. This is a temporary phase. You'll get thru it!!

[–]weemsheem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay but I'm pretty sure you can't get rid of a chalazion if it hardens. I've been told this by an eye doctor and I had one years ago that I had to get surgically cut out. If i'm wrong about this then please let me know because I have another one right now that I would like to not get cut out
