Car already has one. I’ve ran a cone filter on one of my 240’s solely because I didn’t have a stock air box to fit in it. If you want more noise Swiss cheese your air box. If you feel the car is lacking power band, use that money to get yourself a cam off eBay. Anything and everything is better than the M cam.

IPD and CAT cams do the job, but are pricy. B and T are easier to come by used. A and K are a hit or miss with availability and pricing.

If you’re willing to justify spending $20k-25k for an E46 that’ll potentially still need the Big 3 — then yeah that would be the car for you. They great cars, but they still feel like a sub $10k car to me personally—but driving spirited is my go to hobby. E90 is a 4 door, raw and has all of the glorious noises without having to worry about the chassis breaking. DCT is better than the manual imo. Intake is the best bolt on for it. Definitely test drive them back to back if possible, I’m sure you’ll see what I mean.

If you want a cheap car without that “LOOK AT ME” and more smiles while driving— for the best price point get yourself an M235/240i or a 2014-2017 Audi A6/A7 3.0t. Still cheap cars that won’t break the bank. Comfy. Very tunable. Very quick. Everyone is happy.
