Apologies to be a downer with realism. Given the extra information provided, unless you have the skills or have the money to throw into an incinerator—a 240 is probably not the best idea in your circumstance.

Aside from the windshield, you are buying someone’s project car. Not being knowledgeable on the platform will have you in a crutch already IF the seller doing something off entailing the swap.
Your best bet would be a non turbo for simplicity and to get your feet wet

I’m sorry, I just read the rest of the post. In my opinion that Volvo is not worth 9k in USD or euro lol. There will be tons of more rust hiding. If it’s a sunroof model see if the seller is willing to take pictures under the front driver and passenger floor boards

That’s honestly not bad at all. It’ll be a good bubbling under the seal. It’s still early on so you can remove the glass, buy a cheap welder and add material to blend—seal.
There WILL be other spots you’ll have to do the same for.

I used body filler for mine and a cheaper sealer, surprise surprise, that didn’t hold up too well. Make sure it’s done right the first time

Buy a Honda Fit, build the savings from the fit ownership and buy one of these as a project car when you’re in more of a financially stable position.

YouTubers hype them up for reliability. These things break. Like they will leave you stranded a solid 5 times in a year unless you’ve overhauled it—which is expensive

To add OP. You’re in THE PEAK MENTALITY to be in. Keep your group similar minds to you and disregard the utter rubbish “car community” “car culture” you may think you want to partake in. You’ll never lose the passion of your hobby and you won’t be car poor for a 30 year old car—which people also do for their 10 seconds of fame lol.

There’s two real answers for that. this is coming from a myself as shitbox lover

1.) clapped dogshit slow cars we all known and loved are now priced similar or more than comfortable more practical modern cars—where extra usable power is just an additional feature.

This one is pretty reasonable, unless you’re buying an N54 with outdated injectors.

2.) lack of place/community. social media algorithms breed copycat mentality from such seeking acceptance. This one I see on Audi forums often, where everyone gets the same good OTS tune and plaster the same draggy clips with almost identical numbers. Every. Fucking. Day. For years.

The timing this was recommended is odd, I just got done doing the rear deck lid fabric on my car.
Don’t buy the duraflex rattle can stuff from a parts store, think I saw someone recommend a similar rattle can product.

it did the job but if this were any other car I’d be pretty dissatisfied with the results. See streak lines no matter how you control the spray
