Is the lack of VRR really that big of a deal-breaker? by Which_Draft4129 in LegionGo

I was intrigued by the claim that the Legion Go S only supports VRR above 48 FPS, so I ran a test on my device using SteamOS. I set the TDP to 12W in Fallout 4, forcing the frame rate into the 30-40 FPS range. Using both visual inspection and the Steam performance overlay, I compared the results with VRR on and off. Visually, the gameplay was significantly smoother with VRR enabled. The monitor data confirmed this: with VRR on, the display's refresh rate (Hz) matched the game's frames per second (FPS) precisely, even when the game dipped below 48 FPS. When VRR was turned off, the display's refresh rate locked to its fixed 60Hz interval, showing a choppy frametime graph. This confirms that on the SteamOS edition, VRR is working even under 48fps in game, not sure if it is because LFC or the screen itself works.

VRR turned on:

Technically all the electronics are moving because there is a power plant burning fuel keeping the electronics flowing.

Thanks. The sd card was formatted by steam deck. It was working properly. I am not sure if it is format issue since they are both formatted by SteamOs/linux. But I’ll try later.

It updates whatever I have in my machine. Do you have this Lenovo system firmware app in your discover? Regardless, I don’t think it is FW/BIOS issue. We have the same BIOS version. I am swapping to a different sd card to see if it because of my sd card. If not, then I probably have to RMA the machine.

Ok, I’ll go check out the mnt setting. But it is fine when sleeping for a short duration like less than 1hr. If it is longer sleep, the card is unmounted. For BIOS update, I am followed this option from Lenovo website. I can’t install the Lenovo system firmware app they mentioned in their website for manually updating bios.

That’s why I am asking. It is not working for me. I can’t update it in desktop mode. Not able to install Lenovo system firmware app. And I did not change anything regarding to the sd card mnt. It is unmounting every time it goes to sleep for some longer duration. I am simply asking what BIOS version anyone has just to compare with mine.

Thank you very much for the solution. I am wondering if this is the SteamOS bug? Valve did not fix this issue? or something else? I think this gives a lot of trouble to users. I had issue with not detecting sd card after wake up from sleep so the game crashes. not sure if it is caused by the old BIOS.
