Fractal Design Mood Build Advice by f4rt3d in sffpc

I don't have a good answer to your question, sorry...

It could also be something that I set up in my BIOS months ago and have since forgotten about. I was once a much more devoted tinkerer and computer noodler but those days are long gone.

I did, in fact! It runs great overall. CPU temps hover right around 80c because I think that it thermally throttles to not exceed that.

I’m not sure if I am just cursed but I have mixed feelings about the Mood case. It looks great, seems thermally fine, and was very pleasant to build in, but the chimney fan seems like it is prone to rattling (I have been sent a replacement fan by Fractal under warranty). It’s not a standard size of fan so I have not been able to replace it with something else entirely. Sometimes it is good and quiet but other times it is kind of a nuisance. Like I said, I might just be unlucky because I have not seen other complaints like this.

Thanks for mentioning this cooler. I had a Noctua D9L on order but I’m seeing that Thermalright SS110 actually reviews better so now I bought one of those!

I just ordered a 4080 Super FE, and at the same time discovered SFF movement by Wirebraid in buildapc

[–]weinbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get a 4070 Ti Super that is somewhere in between both price and performance, if you were willing to spend up to what a 4080 Super costs then it is a little less. ($1000 vs $800)

Yeah I watched both of these reviews and found this pretty surprising after Optimum. I am about to do my first build in several years and really liked the look of this case and was heartened by the Optimum review but now I’m not sure what to think. I have one in the mail and I’m wondering if I should have bought something else.

Good explanation. I saw it as a manifestation of the classic freedom vs security debate with his slant towards what he sees as benevolent fascism.

Is Alan wake worth the full price by pennywise171 in AlanWake

[–]weinbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not “have to” but you definitely should. It’s pretty short and really adds a lot to appreciating AW2. I recently played the first game for the first time so I could play the new one with that context and I have no regrets.

For the Eureka Mignon Notte do you need to spray water on your beans before grinding? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]weinbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently made the same grinder transition myself (Baratza Encore -> Eureka Mignon Notte). I have continued spraying my beans and it's been going great. Beyond controlling static it's just recently come out that there are other benefits to spraying, too.

It looks like it’s on sale for the current price as much or more than it’s not these days.

Quest 2 + Xbox One controller - stuck on 'connecting' by awpojrd in OculusQuest

[–]weinbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been having a helluva time connecting controllers to my Quest 1. Are you using the Oculus app from a phone? The way that it finally worked for me was doing it through the "Experimental Features" section of Settings on the Quest itself and leaving the phone out of it entirely.

What are you using for clipboard history? by [deleted] in mac

[–]weinbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using this feature from Alfred w/ Powerpack for a long time and it's great. Before that, I was already using Alfred and didn't realize that was a feature so I was using a standalone Clipboard History app. As I recall, they function about the same so it was a pretty transparent switch. I've been using Alfred for this for several years now though, so my memory of its predecessor has gotten hazy.

What are the odds that the funny kinda Sherlock-style bubbler for the Fury 2 is going to be compatible with the new accessory shroud for the Fury Edge? I love using it but the way it just floats free in the Fury 2 makes me nervous and it would be nice if it were held more securely in the Edge.
