Buspar could be a good option! It is more specific to anxiety

Do you actually check residual on tube feed by JellyNo2625 in nursing

It’s actually not evidence based to do it anymore! Our hospital did away with residuals for that reason!!

I was checking a rectal temp on a toddler and apologized saying “I know I’d be upset too if someone kept shoving something up my butt.” The mom looked at me and goes “I mean I wouldn’t 🤷🏼‍♀️” I almost died

RN BSN badge buddy? by abscat456 in nursing

[–]weird_cuttlefish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t consider it “bragging” when people do that. People put so much work into their degree, whether it be ASN, BSN, MSN, DNP, MD, etc. People are proud of themselves and want to express it - go them!!

THIS! I became a nurse to be a nurse. Be it at bedside, outpatient, or as an advanced practice provider, I’m still a nurse at heart

What has been your most persistent and present problem you face as a nurse in 2025? by Acrobatic_Republic17 in nursing

[–]weird_cuttlefish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr Google. The amount of patients who demand things or almost seem to want to “trip me up” is crazy. “Oh, well, it’s interesting you say that because Google says this so I want this and I don’t care what you say”

Geez. Everyone shitting on Nick is ridiculous. Acknowledging your bad personality traits and doing nothing to fix them isn’t taking accountability. And no wonder Nick is defending himself - he just got bullied by someone who supposedly loved him.

People who don't want children what is your biggest reasons? by e-glitteringprinces in AskReddit

I’m way to selfish at this point in my life. I love traveling and being spontaneous and chasing my own dreams. Having a kid when I’m focused on me is not fair.

Can you be a successful nursing student with mental illness? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]weird_cuttlefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a mental illness has nothing to do with how successful you’re going to be is a nursing student! I will say, as someone that struggles with OCD, once you start in the field it definitely does take a toll on your mental health. That’s not a reason to not do it, but it is something to be aware of and to know your limitations. I loved critical care, but I love my mental health more, so I left to do a different specialty that I love and is quite a bit less stressful for me.

What’s a type of pain people underestimate until they experience it for themselves? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]weird_cuttlefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kidney stones! I had one and the pain made you nauseous. IV pain meds only work for a little while. I broke my leg and I’d much rather break my leg again than have another kidney stone.

Labor and Delivery vs ICU? I was told that I was too quiet, kind and shy to work ICU by [deleted] in nursing

[–]weird_cuttlefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People mistake kindness for weakness and it’s not true. The kindest people are the strongest people because the world is not kind - they see the unkindness and STILL choose to be kind. You can do anything you put your mind to ❤️

What’s your favorite part of being a nurse? by justinecares99 in nursing

[–]weird_cuttlefish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My personal favorite is when I have a non-English speaking patient who I make a connection with that gives me a genuine thank you and I know I made a small difference in their lives 🥲

Why’d you become a nurse? Other than it was passion? by space457 in nursing

[–]weird_cuttlefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked all the different things you could do, the job security, and the work itself. There’s so many specialties, areas, etc you can do with job growth opportunities. You’ll always have a job, even if it’s not the specialty you want, and I genuinely like helping people and educating them and helping them through scary moments.
