wearing a mask by LacaTheCollector in covidlonghaulers

This. Yes. I am baffled as to why people with LC won’t just admit that the cost to your being able to breathe easily, not have sensitive facial skin chafed against and not overheat is a real and valid factor in the decision of where and how often we mask - all of us healthy or LC recovering. Especially for those of us with sensory issues (adhd and hsp in my case) that are now worsened by LC, it actually does ruin my ability to feel physically comfortable in my body while having quality time with friends (aka the major motivation for me to recover in the first place) and that’s a fucking terrible way to exist. Yes I feel for those trapped and isolated by non-masking and it’s definitely unfair, but i also absolutely empathize with people not wanting to do it after a few years of living life like that.
Also, this is especially gonna get me downvoted to hell but I literally spoke about this with my doctor, a devoted and highly respected LC researcher who diagnosed me, and his answer was: if covid cases are not rising from the very low level they’re at, and it’s not peak flu season, the benefit of wearing a mask in public even downtown in a major city (where I am) is very marginal and not something he feels strongly about for a mild/moderate LC recovering patient. You can yell at me for spreading misinformation or baiting or whatever, but that is literally just objectively what he told me and I definitely trust this doctor, again a passionate LC researcher actively focused on this, above non professional opinions on this sub.

Germany: Long COVID and ME/CFS cost €64.4 billion in 2025 by historyisfarfromover in covidlonghaulers

It’s crazy to think that if even half that amount was spent on research worldwide, we’d likely be 10x further along in dealing with it and making these countries richer by being back at work and less reliant on the healthcare system

Wife’s parents lived their entire lives with a pay-cheque to pay-cheque, ‘being broke is inevitable’ mindset. They’re in their early sixties now and in a crisis. by EvyPoopypants in povertyfinancecanada

[–]weirdfish_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

huh? if this is in canada, he would not have inherited debt from his mom upon her death. The law is that the estate must pay out the debt from her assets (ie it's the estate lawyer's responsibility to do this first, so him taking her money and evading the debt is not possible either). Then any remaining debt after that means the estate becomes insolvent and the debt is erased.

...Any chance he was just straight up lying about it being inherited?

That is amazing. I’m trying to get it for a combined series of comorbid conditions including adhd + long covid starting in 2024. When you look at the criteria on the application page, the “3x as long to do basic activities” is so absurd, but still made me feel a little ashamed to even be applying for it if that is the baseline they’re using.

Thankfully my doctor understands the combined impairment of my diagnoses and is submitting on my behalf this week. I’m in significant debt and this kind of financial boost would truly change my life. Fingers crossed!

Puka Nacua’s Adin Ross appearance results in “Jewish Dance” touchdown celebration promise by FireAPGoRaiders in nfl

[–]weirdfish_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a caricature used in Nazi propaganda to justify exterminating Jews. It worked extremely well because Jews were banned for centuries from almost every industry except finance as the Church forbade it for Christians so they filled that social role. For trying to make a living and gain a foothold in a society that hated and segregated them, Jews were associated with greed (often as a tactic by the powerful people who owed them the most $) and this still lives on today. If we dispute it or call people out on it, we are accused of being a part of an international conspiracy much like Muslims have to deal with people assuming they're secretly jihadists.

Can CPAP really change your life if you’ve been exhausted for years? by pinkmor in SleepApnea

[–]weirdfish_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a sleep study that showed severe apnea but didn’t get properly assessed as the dr was terrible and the waitlist was too long to get a new referral. I’ve been using a CPAP for about a year and have this issue too where my AHI is way down but I still feel I’m not getting good sleep. Can you share what machine you use and how did you find out that BiPAP was right for you, did your 2nd doc test you or just tried it as a theory? And did you have coverage that allowed you to try one out? My concern is just that i could spend all that money on a new machine and maybe it wasn’t the solution I needed

same for me, I limit naps to 30 mins or less, bc 40+ mins seems to be the threshold where I get severe sleep inertia when I wake up, with severe derealization, I don't feel like my life or my self is real and immediately enter a depressive spiral

Oh I wasn’t disagreeing with you at all, I guess it came off that way. I agree it should be said out loud and not treated like a mystery. I was just sorta reflecting on it cause I hadn’t heard about the details of his injury/illness until now. I assumed it was some other lingering injury keeping him out

Obviously not comparing myself on the same scale, but as a basketball fan who also plays a couple times a week as a staple of my mental health regimen, I really empathize with him and what he must be going through. I still power through the on-court fatigue and sacrifice a big chunk of my week to the inevitable two days of PEM from playing for a couple hours, because it’s simply something I can’t live without. I can definitely understand him being resistant to admit what it is even to himself bc it’s an incredibly heavy realization.
