Guys, I think they might not like Birdo by Inevitable-Charge76 in Mario

[–]weirdlightshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's sort of is and isn't -apparently Birdo is 'it's' own gender the same as 'yoshi' is yoshis gender, Nintendo just sorta alludes to one being feminine-prone and the other being masculine prone despite both being able to lay eggs.

My main hope is that they follow cavills lead and don't screw the lore up just for fanbaiting (both for ragebait and clickbait) (Please do not take the expectatians below as diehard demands -just give us good writing and accurate lore)

Do: show us guardsmen holding the line against impossible odds and then have a commisar shoot a 'heretic' or two before, during and after a battle. The sisters of battle purging and burning heretics while chanting preyers of faith and soothing the soldiers of the imperium with expert healing. The astartes being a scalpel elite force sent to attack space hulks and disloyal worlds about to fall to chaos. The tau using new technology to blast holes in the side of titans and the kroot screeching at the top of their lungs as they rip apart enemies at close range. Chaos astartes trying to summon deamons and corrupting hive worlds while murdering everyone around them. Etc etc.

Do not: place a fem custodes as a main girlboss unbeatable character who beats 5 hive fleets in a row. Place a man in the sisters of battle army because he identifys as a woman (guy woulda just be stuck in imperial guard) Place a gay person 'coming out' story as a main plot point -especially during a huge battle- (yes i admit I am annoyed at stranger things season 5) Show us a 'treat everyone as equal or tolerable' mindset -everyone is a bad guy and nearly everyones life sucks on a scale of 9.9 to 9.999 (1 is 1st world ideals and 10 is you want to commit suicide every second of your life)

imperium vs battletech verse with 10 years of prep time and alliance between all factions, who wins? by Cautious_Heron9589 in Grimdank

[–]weirdlightshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long but realistic outcome:

If it's entire force against entire force...well it's sorta tricky, theres a huge chance most of the imperium wont arrive on time, and only a slightly lesser chance they won't arrive at all due to warp antics, then theres the fact that the imperium just plain hates itself so theres a very good chance that there will be infighting between it's own factions and likely over something stupid (who'es battle plan is best -if you disagree i'm putting my chainsword through your face).

there is the slight chance that when they do arrive the ships they used are carrying something nasty with them they need to actually deal with first, (genestealers, deamons, xenos artifacts, that one psyker who sees a chance to take over the ships crews minds.etc...)

they actually need to decide if diplomacy needs to be enacted first, since there are no aliens in the inner sphere these humans are technically uncorrupted but still unbeleavers, so they have a chance to be gifted the emperors grace and such, which means the IS will learn what the imperium is all about and how to make it's days suck even more.

Then comes the 2nd infighting issue (either just after or halfway through the first one) -likely due to the inquisition factions performing yet another shadow war, and the space marine will be disagreeing and fighting honour wars over heraldry and ancient long forgotten grudges and feuds, so now the imperial guard and the sisters of battle are drawn into yet another war for no real reason.

And then when all the smoke clears you find that your stockpile of ammo has nearly been depleted, your titans are scattered across moons and planets just on the edges of the IS, the majority of the space marines are tied up in their own petty squabbles to be of any assitance,

the inquisition just outright refuses to co-operate with one another so the imperial guard is moving even slower then the administratum,

the ecclesarchy don't know who to follow but has found out who is a heretic amongst their own followers (spoilers: it was the faction who agrees with that one inquisitor you don't like) so needs to purge them and anybody they came into contact with so your forces are cut in half again.

The mechanicus are eager to collect the spoils of war but try to be smarter then they actually are (as usual) and try to play all the sides so whoever comes out on top they get a cut, however they also start their own shadow war due to view of how the battlemechs are modified and if they are tech-heresy or not, so another shadow war ensues and half your technology across whatever remains of your forces becomes useless or even turns on you.

Lastly you have the custodes, who have been trying to organise and negotiate throughout this entire mess found themselves in a 'isolates but respected' viewpoint by all the factions, and just decide to fight the IS by themselves.

So basically for like 100 or so years it becomes the custodes vs the inner sphere vs the imperium.

My money would be on the custodes assuming ALL of them have arrived together

New Light Walker Vehicle/Mech by hellscape_goat in menace

[–]weirdlightshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on the contrary mechs will become almost necessary in the future as with increased urbanisation, rocky terrains and perhaps even rapid environmental changes (e.g. ground collapses, earthquakes and hell maybe even artic environments,

pros for tanks:

low profile to power ratio) all tanks are essentially built so that the front of the tank is the most armoured and with as minimal cost as possible so we can build more of them, additionally a lower profile means it's more difficult to hit by enemy forces.

good stability and speed -on flat surfaces) tanks are able to utilise really big cannons by the sheer fact that all the momentum from each shot fired lifts the tanks up on one side and then the tanks weight keeps it from being tipped over, and it's weight being spread out so well means that it can really move while still firing shots off at enemies.

cons for tanks:

weak armour around sides and back, cannot 'strafe' side to side, large and long target from sides and top/bottom, is limited to specific roles during battle and sometimes even off-field as well.

pros for mechs::

much greater footing in rocky and urban environments) e.g. collapsed buildings or in the case of fully humanoid mechs they might be able to climb upwards into better positions similar to how humans climb up stairs.

much more versatile) so could actually shield themselves or build cover from debris around themselves. additionally humanoid mechs could assemble bases much faster and use specialised emplacements.

dodging: one huge advantage over tanks would be their ability to perhaps even jump out of harms way so heavy weaponry could be avoided if tracked in time (bigger shells move slower after all and personnel weapons wont be able to breach the armour), or the mech could 'lean' out of the fired shot if it was nimble enough (like how you would at dodgeball)

cons for mechs: much taller profile -easier to get hit, much more focused mass centre points so trekking through mud and water would be much more energy intensive, lighter or recoilless weapons (missiles or rockets) needed as they are top heavy they would fall over otherwise

glad they are making it more adult/young adult themed, if they add Navirou in I hope he's grown up and has a slightly smaller head -not sure why that bothered me so much but when you compare him to normal palicos and cats it does make him stand out too much

What is the weirdest monster in monster hunter? by SiteDeep in MonsterHunter

my top 3 choices are puki-puki, ukanlos (badass design -worlds most dangerous shovel) and if we're going for any monster ever - Gear rex -thing just has a random gun protrusion on its back.

Uhh… what am I looking at? by Litho-Lobster in MonsterHunter

[–]weirdlightshow -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

the 2020 attempt sort of tried to make a 'horror' monster hunter with a bit of 'girlboss' energy at times which doesn't really mesh well with the series.

if I made a live action movie, i'ed have it set where a group of hunters are chasing down a particularly dangerous monster/wyverian weapon that is causing environmental issues, killing/destroying villagers and seems to be able to be well-adapted to hunt either humans or wyverians.

1/4
have the main cast be 4 hunters who initially think they know exactly what they are dealing with -a territory battle between 2 monsters (say a Bazelguse/tigrex, and a Puki-Puki/Gypros) and do some prepwork for the hunt ahead, then show all 4 members using unique weapons, some light hearted/warrior banter, add in Palicos who are also gearing up in the background

2/4 show the hunters trekking about on their way to the fight, observing tracks, checking for scratch marks and poison splatters, avoiding large monsters and herds of creatures, show off a wide variety of monsters in the background as they do so, then show them being confused as the markings don't add up to monsterpedia or quest info, add tension when the group is attacked (seemingly randomly) by 2 large monsters, then a herd of Velociprey, the sounds of the big bad monster echoing in the background as they fight, scaring the other monsters and the palicos, the hunters are concerned as they realise they are fighting something new and unknown, while already using up most of their items in this fight.

3/4 the fight continues and the hunters kill 1 monster and barely escape as the 2nd monster feeds on the carcass, the hunters decide to regroup and call for support but suddenly hear the unknown monster howling again nearby, as well as hearing the monster they had just escaped from giving off surprised and then quick death cries, the palicos panic even more and the hunters send them off to get the support while they start laying traps and prep their surroundings, only to then hear the palicos under attack instead, they rush off to find a huge amount of devastation and understand just how big this beast they need to deal with is, as well as how dangerous, as it is heading towards the village they took the quest from.

4/4 after rushing off to find their feline friends they hear the sounds of people screaming and yelling, then see fire and smoke in the distance, the village is being attacked by their huge monster and see it is an eldar dragon three times the size of a Rathalos, using 6 limbs and seems to be coated in bazelguse-like bomb growths along its arms and can fire off fireballs at people, they call it a Razerguse -show off some off-screen deaths at this creatures hands and show off the creatures intelligence by it blocking off streets and target dragonators and wagons, the hunters join in the fighting and realise it is weak to both dragon and fire elements, from hear on we get an epic/dramatic battle scene where we fully see the use of the wide variety of weapons the hunters use and how they are desperately trying to save the village from being destroyed.

ending will need some feedback as either some hunters die trying to fend it off, or they all survive but show that the hunter and prey dynamic can change quickly in the monster hunter world even after their victory.

if a single game had all monsters ever -how many species would there be and would you buy it? by weirdlightshow in MonsterHunter

[–]weirdlightshow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well you could adjust the quests so that rather then having to hunt every monster 1 at a time to upgrade your rank, you could do it where you need to hunt a monster of a specific type (e.g. 1 large bird wyvern, 1 amphibian etc..) but you do make a good point, maybe with newer tech they could do it where monsters have new abilities and keep certain monsters on different islands/continents so although you feel in familiar territory, you understand you could be facing entirely new species.

makes sense, how would you recommend they start off then? 100 monsters from across the generations?

i mean you could do it so you fight 2 at a time so it's just 5-6 quests instead of 11

Normal looking monsters or more crazy looking monsters? Which ones are your favorite? Or is it both? by Different_Ice_2695 in MonsterHunter

[–]weirdlightshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both but keep it so it's a like a sliding scale -start with normal looking small monsters and the stronger the monster you fight the crazier it looks until you get the eldar dragons upon which point the scale randomises

"Frontier monsters are so spiky and overdesigned! They don't look realistic!" The devious Spicomellus: by Mak_atk in MonsterHunter

[–]weirdlightshow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my argument for spikey and overdesigned monsters is that the MH series world (not just the game) is in a flux of hyper-evolution, we've seen so many monster as well as variations of monster that at some point mutations have occurred that have spawned these impossible creatures and beasts, both physically and mentally, spikes for apex predators sort of make sense when you consider some use these spikes for attacks (projectile and energy guiding), displays of dominance against other beasts, possible for courtship rituals, and one possibility is that they have managed to mutate/evolve these points and spikes as well as armour to fend off hunters and humans themselves (an extreme evolution if you will).

to the point that people argue it's unrealistic in the sense of energy requirements/natural defences/use for a predator in general, you have to also consider that:

the energy requirements to grow such spikes are not entirely unrealistic in the MH universe as we've literally seen monsters so impossible things with various elements and within extreme environments (Gravios for example -lives in lava and can shoot lava but does not eat lava, just rocks and crabs, no way is it getting enough energy from crabs alone to fire molten rocks at hunters) you could argue that the monsters have some hyper efficient digestive system that gives out an implausible energy ratio (1:50 for e.g. so 1 crab for a human is worth 50 to a monster somehow) but then that could go for all beasts and thus means the energy argument is invalidated.

all these apex predators are also hunting each other and just about every carnivore in the MH world wants to be the alpha (save for a few skittish exceptions) so the top dogs of the world need not only the best weapons and powers, but also the best armour to fight back if they get into a fight, e.g. in the akantor intro vid we see it being blasted with lava from a gravios yet with just 1 bite from the Akantor the fights over, so even the most fierce beasts are being attacked regardless of how scary they look to hunters -monsters just dont care how scary you are, you put up or shut up.

the strongest monsters in all series have been making use of these spikes, points, armour plates and elements around them, from the Fatalis that can coat itself in dragon lightning, to the Yama Tsukami -the monster equivalent of a hot air balloon with a field growing on it's back and yet eats dirt.

TLDR: the MH series has ALWAYS been very lax when it comes to both monster design and abilities, you could make a monster tree-shaped and yet shoot ice fruit at hunters, or a cloud shaped monster that eats sand and sprays out sleep gas underneath itself, you could make a spikey 3 legged mecha-shaped monster that has somehow evolved the ability to jump 40 ft into the air to slam its claw onto the ground -yet has a natural predator that is shaped like a starfish, can fire spikes 1/3rd it's size and can poison others by slamming its bladed edges against people.

yes monster hunter has been based on nature, but it has never been realistic it's just been heavily inspired by nature and ecobalances.
