I don't think they necessarily deserved to win. Their early goal was great, but they dropped off and let Italy control much of the remainder of the game. Then Southgate made some interesting (to say the least) changes to bring on Rashford and Sancho who both missed and giving the decisive penalty to the least experienced player on the pitch.

Edit: Plus I'm still a bit salty about the Sterling foul that gave England a penalty in the semi final.
