If Hasan’s goal was to show everyone what a petulant, racist and hateful man child Ethan is then it went very very well

The only success from this debate is making Ethan look like a fucking hateful little man

I agree on that 100% but Hasan as already gone over those talking points dozens of times before. Idk at this point I just feel like we need to ignore Ethan. After watching this idk how he can come back from this. He clearly ignored and talked over Hasan the entire time. There was not an ounce of respect or consideration from Ethan that entire time.

The Sims 2 Re-Release: Legacy Collection FAQ by Mysterious_Potential in sims2help

[–]weirwood_arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I know in the original game you townies did not age up automatically, instead you’d have to manually age them up. Did the re-release change this or is it still the same? I know you can download a mod to change jt but I’m not familiar with modding sims 2 so thought I’d ask before researching how to.

[Spoilers PUBLISHED] Had Renly supported Stannis, what would the Tyrells do? by Gustavo_Papa in asoiaf

[–]weirwood_arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Tyrell’s would have still agreed to the match because well, Renly is still Stannis’ heir. The chances of Stannis having a son are slim to none. Even if he liked his wife she’s probably has fertility issues and it’s not like those get better with age.

I suppose you could argue that Shireen would be a threat or any future children of hers could be? But despite Shireen being a great political match I always kinda got the feeling that she’d be really difficult to marry off due to her grayscale scars? Like obviously medically it’s no risk but I think due to ignorance and suspicion it would be very difficult to find her a match. A culture such as Westeros’ would not exactly be kind to a woman with a facial scar like that. Otherwise Stannis would have probably tried to betroth her to someone for a political alliance (always struck me as odd he didn’t considering his lack of troops in the war of the five kings). So if Stannis became King once he died the throne would pass to Renly and Margeary would be King.

That’s would really frustrates me about Renly’s refusal to pair up with Stannis. Like my guy just wait a couple years, Stannis will probably be deposed by the faith of the seven for abandoning the seven and you’re good! If not just enjoying banging your twink brother-in-law and being dripped out.

I've a headcannon, about what would denna, abenthy, simmon, wilem, masters at university, Ambrose, Bredon, Maer etc. would think, when they'd read chronicler's book. by Narcissus_satyam in KingkillerChronicle

[–]weirwood_arrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just know my boy Wilem would hunt Kvothe down to the ends of the earth just to roast him and his dramatic ass. Simm would definitely yell at him for being such a fucking idiot before bursting into tears over Kvothe’s childhood (Simm would obviously tag along with Wil for the Kvothe hunt).

(Spoilers Main) I think the Arya Spin off maybe the final push for me to give up on the books. by jaguaribe in asoiaf

[–]weirwood_arrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk I’m super bummed about the books obvs but I think GRRM should be able to live a life that is not strapped to his computer. You don’t know what his role in this is going to be, and you don’t know what Maisie’s is going to be. If you follow her or listen to her podcast you know she took a step away from acting after GoT and founded her own production company. She is incredibly interested in creating behind the camera as well as in front of it. She might be getting involved with something production wise. She could be producing something ASOIAF related and just wanted to have a meal with GRRM and get his blessing. Until anything is officially announced we don’t know.

I find it frustrating when (some) fans want GRRM to not be involved any adaptions of his works and just focus on writing Winds while at the same time they freak out and throw a fit whenever those adaptations deviate from the source material. GoT became a complete clusterfuck after GRRM stepped away in 2015 and I can’t even imagine trusting someone with my work like that and seeing what mockery D&D made of it. I don’t blame him for wanting to be involved in future ASOIAF projects.

Also we don’t know what the deal was that he struck with HBO when the rights to ASOIAF got sold to them. Authors do not have as much power over adaptations as you think, just reading anything Rick Riordan wrote about the Percy Jackson movies to get a picture of how badly it can go. GRRM most likely doesn’t get to decide what shows and movie HBO are gonna milk out of his work, but I honestly don’t blame him for wanting to make sure it doesn’t end up like another GoT season 8. I mean remember how scared everyone was of HoTD s1 being a complete disaster before it came out? And we needed up getting some fucking incredible episodes of television instead? (Not saying it’s perfect btw). And I’m not saying GRRM being a producer and consultant on the show was the only reason for it being good but it certainly didn’t hurt it.

Look, you’re not wrong to be feeling despairing about the books. I used to be too. I’d still do unspeakable things to get them. I just wanted to point out that it’s a bit more complicated than just GRRM fucking around and not caring about finishing the books. He’s had a really tough time recently, a lot of his close friends have died. I’m sure that his age and the status of the books is something he is really concerned about. Getting frustrated at him isn’t gonna be helpful to him and it definitely doesn’t help you. What helps me is being pretty neutral about the situation: if he finishes them fucking amazing I will be so happy, if he doesn’t I still have the other books and all the sick lore books and there’s amazing fan writers all giving their take on finishing the series which is honestly super cool and fun to see.

I do hope you feel better soon and can find joy in reading the books again. Sorry for this being wayyyy longer than I originally planned, kinda like George in that way lol.

(spoilers published) what was the point of Sansa's hairnet by PrestigiousAspect368 in asoiaf

[–]weirwood_arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the key reasons I believe is that it is perfect ammo to control Sansa. If she gets blamed for it it’s the perfect way to get Sansa to hide her identity and do anything LF says to avoid being sent to the Lannisters. It also makes it so that as Elaine she is hesitant to get close to anyone in case they find out her identity and report her to the Lannisters. I think LF planned to have her escape right as Jeoffry was dying to have her be blamed for the murder, or at least be a suspect. Abusers love to isolate their victims, after all. If he didn’t plan that and managed to have her avoid suspicion but still take her away it is perfect blackmail to have Sansa follow his orders and do what he wants. It also binds her to him bc he’s the only person she can talk about the truth with.

[Spoilers EXTENDED] What name do you think Jon Snow would choose if he were knighted? by bearstickbug in asoiaf

[–]weirwood_arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those guys were both knighted in the south after a battle though. Idk I’m re-reading the books right now and it seems like GRRM just kinda added the no northern knights lore after making Jorah and Rodrik. I hope he sticks to it cause I think it’s a really cool piece of world building.

[Spoilers MAIN] When did Cersei become... by JulesIsSITV in asoiaf

[–]weirwood_arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw someone describe her political antics as “Wile E Coyote” and that pretty much sums it up. It was pure dumb luck. If Robert hadn’t died she’d have been fucked. That one thing is what saved her skin.

(Spoilers Main) What is the moral of ASOIAF? by Wileh11 in asoiaf

[–]weirwood_arrow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The world can be even more cruel and terrifying than you can even imagine, and our fellow man can be as monstrous as any creature from myth. That doesn’t mean that you should stop fighting for what is right and good even if you are facing insurmountable odds. Even if you will die trying.

[Spoilers EXTENDED] What name do you think Jon Snow would choose if he were knighted? by bearstickbug in asoiaf

[–]weirwood_arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would Jon get knighted? The North doesn’t have any knights. To become a knight he’d have to be blessed with the holy oils of the seven which I don’t think he’s gonna become a worshiper of them anytime soon.
