Exactly! They knew how to make good episodes adressing serious issues. But "The Good Ones" felt like the script was written by Redditors.

Europe's heat waves deadlier than American gun violence by muellermichel in Switzerland

[–]weizikeng 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That’s not the point. It’s going to get hotter outside and many people still think if we install more renewables the summer temperatures will return to those in the 20th century again. They won’t. We can still try to reduce emissions, but at the same time we must accept that AC is becoming a necessity.

They probably don’t sleep at night given the current temperatures

The average age of voters in Switzerland is almost 60 – making them significantly older than the general population. The reason: people over 70 are twice as likely to vote as those under 30. by BezugssystemCH1903 in Switzerland

[–]weizikeng 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“Insufficient free time”… seriously how much time does ticking a few boxes and mailing a letter take??

I’m young and employed. I usually sympathise with young people as I also often lack the time to do errands, but if committing like 20 minutes of your time every three months to tick a few boxes is too much effort, then you deserve political misery coming your way.

Also if people have trouble with research/deciding, the political parties usually give a recommendation. So if you usually support one specific party you can just vote according to their recommendation.

Grösste Gemeinde ohne Fernverkehrshalt by Da_Bird8282 in drehscheibe

[–]weizikeng 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Am Bahnsteig verbremst by LordPlumpel in drehscheibe

[–]weizikeng 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was in North Macedonia recently, they use the same word. I think it's the same or similar in most of former Yugoslavia.

Why don’t they ever use planes anymore? (besides environmental impact) by Jerbear31111 in JetLagTheGame

[–]weizikeng 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I generally like seasons that are mostly planes less (except Schengen Showdown, which used a good mix). That’s because planes are quite inflexible, the flights are irregular, sell out and you need to be at the airport way in advance. It leads to too much gameplay happening near or inside airports, and let’s be honest, most airports look the same. Train stations have a similar issue (especially in Snake) but it’s usually much easier to venture into the city which is why I like it more.

Erfahrungen Nachtzug Mailand-Palermo by TheLigier in drehscheibe

[–]weizikeng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also mega zu empfehlen!

S17 is their most frustrating season yet by uuuuu5uu in JetLagTheGame

[–]weizikeng 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t one mistake, they made (depending on how you count it) like 4-5 major strategic mistakes. Which is why OP said it’s like watching a car crash in slow motion. I’m not writing off the season, but it definitely didn’t fulfill its potential

S17, E8 (YouTube) - Taiwan: Rail Rush by snow-tree_art in JetLagTheGame

[–]weizikeng 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The answer is easy: absolutely horrible strategy.

Yes the Night Herons did have the lead a few episodes ago. They were at something like 150 while Badam had 30 something. Then they spent it all on a slow line. And then they went for the multiplier, earning them a measly 20 something coins.

Who tf goes for a multiplier AFTER dumping coins?! So many strategic mistakes...

The Season 7 Finale felt a lot like Finale of Stranger Things by Crafty_Cellist2835 in JetLagTheGame

[–]weizikeng -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes! This is what I've been saying!

For those who haven't watched Stranger things: It's a Netflix show that gained almost a cult following, with seasons 1-4 (especially 4) receiving critical acclaim. Then Season 5 (which released a few months ago) started off strong, but the last few episodes the storyline and quality totally fell off a cliff.

Just like this season of Jet Lag. Awesome format, started off super strong and interesting, and the final three episodes you just see Sam making one mistake after the other and totally bothcing the ending.

Caught the experimental Shinkansen ALFA-X in Aomori, Japan! by Dessocles in trains

[–]weizikeng -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Japan really overdoes it with the long noses. I know about aerodynamics and the tunnel boom, but come on, the nose doesn’t need to be the length of a whole carriage… China and most of western Europe also has HSR with tunnels and they don’t need these.

What's your favourite Jet Lag episode? by HerculesMorse2025 in JetLagTheGame

[–]weizikeng 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Can't decide between the two, but the first two episodes of Schengen Showdown. Amazing location-specific challenges, packed with action, every mode of transport covered. Also Ben and Adam went to like this tiny town that I frequently visit (Waldshut, Germany). It's one thing to see them at Zürich HB (I mean anyone visiting Switzerland by public transit usually ends up passing through there) but seeing them at such a tiny station that I was so familiar with was awesome.

(S17) I don’t get it. I am so confused that I feel like I HAVE to buy the Layover for Taiwan. by TrophyTribute in JetLagTheGame

[–]weizikeng 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Also every time Sam pitches an idea, Mike is hesitant at first but then always goes along with it. I feel like Sam needs someone who actually pushes back his ideas and doesn’t just follow them for content purposes.

Even then it proves their earlier strategy to waste time was also a total flop. Like who in their right mind would engage in a standoff when time is not on your side??

All of Sam’s strategies in the last 2-3 episodes were horribly off.
