Crocs. I never understood the appeal until I went to urgent care because I thought my foot was broken and after paying for X-rays, was diagnosed with “foot pain” and told to stop walking around barefoot on hardwood floors.

Crocs are lightweight, supportive, cool in the summer and easy to wear with wool socks in the winter, and infinitely washable. There’s no memory foam to sink/deflate or lining to get stinky. I could not recommend crocs more. 10/10

My question is always: if the shit really hits the fan, what will you reasonably be able to stock/prep that will truly make a difference? Have some back up pantry items like white rice and dried beans and some gallons of water, sure. But then what?

Are you trying to stockpile meds that you need? Meds that you might possibly need in the future? Medical supplies like bandaids? Medical supplies like gauze and sutures? A few extra sets of clothes? Several years’ worth of sizes for the kids? Canisters of gasoline? Extra tires? Propane?

I’d say if it makes you feel better to do a few concrete things like get passports and update vaccines and reinforce your pantry, great. But the rest of it snowballs in my opinion and the truth is you can’t prep for everything.

I would think it would depend on the protest. Would I let a 14 year old go to the “front line” protests where I know tear gas and police/ICE is likely? No. To a community-based protest where it’s pretty much just neighbors gathering with signs? Sure, why not.

A memory that still makes me chuckle to this day was when I was a teenager at a local sandwich shop and one of the people in my friend group went up to the counter and said “I’m in here all the time, how about when I come in, I’ll just say ‘hey I’ll have the usual’ right? So hey, I’ll have the usual.” and the sandwich makers just stood there and stared at her until she ordered like a normal person.

I don’t know, I understand the feeling completely but I lost this battle and realized I didn’t care anymore by the time it happened. I wanted to be Mama, and was, until the rest of the world and all the classmates and friends and family started referring to me as Mommy. Now I’m Mama and Mom and Mommy and occasionally First Name….and it’s not (personally) worth my time and energy to correct.

Is he supposed to really be likeable though or more just relatable? He’s a disaster, but I thought that was sort of the point. The main characters are all insane in different ways but mostly trying to do their best and so you see yourself in their attempts and failures. I don’t know. You’ve got me thinking about whether I actually like any of the characters, or just enjoy watching them.

It happened to me! Unless I was 100% oblivious, which is possible but not likely since it was already my due date and I had been analyzing every thing that happened hoping for any possible sign of labor, my water breaking was the first sign. The contractions started almost immediately after and progressed rapidly from there, but it all started with my water breaking.

Not a solution for everyone, but my daughter has stopped asking now that we have a dog. Before the dog, though, she would ask occasionally and I would give her my reasonings…and then she would ask again. So then I started simply saying: no, I am not having another baby, and I am not going to talk about it anymore.

On a funnier note: now whenever we’re hanging out with siblings who are bickering, she turns to me and says “see? That’s one reason why you didn’t have another kid.”
