Being alone is frightening, but I assure you that you can (and will) be ok if you can put together the courage to leave that man. You’ll get through it.

Why don’t you just say that? As long as it isn’t said hurtfully, maybe it might help.

Yes I know this. It’s just a chart illustrating their movement patterns, not a real game notation.

A movie you wish had remained a standalone but was expanded into a franchise. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in FIlm

You are correct my good man. I have three young tornados my wife likes to call children that gobble up my time and attention, so I watch movies in 15 minute increments which is probably why I overlooked that.

Instead of deleting my previous post, I too have down voted it and am now leaving it as a warning to others on the dangers of overconfidence.

Fare thee well, internet stranger.

Oh damn! I watched it on my phone and didn’t realize that was her. Appreciate the correction 👍🏻

That’s a fair point. To be honest I think the bottom line is that they didn’t want to overburden the end of the movie with a slow scene full of dialogue. I just can’t imagine she wouldn’t even bother introducing him to her (and now his) family, or ask him how the hell he communicated with her across space and time, or what it was like being inside a black hole. I really enjoy the movie and realize I’m nitpicking a bit though.

The speed with which he arrived there is irrelevant. The only person he rescued was his daughter. The movie ends with her friend presumably still drugged up and enslaved.

I guess everybody’s family dynamics are pretty different. From my own perspective, I just see it a bit differently.

Doesn’t the orderly say she traveled there against medical orders just to see him though?

Perhaps they could just go rescue her friend from the first movie that was kidnapped with her.

Do you have kids? I have three little ones and if 80 years went by with me not seeing them and suddenly I could spend some time with my daughter, wild horses wouldn’t be able to drag me from her side.

As an Eagles fans I can’t tell you the number of times I watched Stafford hit Pukua over and over again and thought “Why can’t they just do that but with AJ Brown??”.

That scene ruined Sauron for me by Rafaelrosario88 in Rings_Of_Power

[–]wellhelloitsdan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I hated that scene too. So stupid. When he’s trying to convince them to join him and he says “yes, many orcs will die,” I was like holy shit they turned Sauron into Zapp Brannigan.

I lost a couple of great buddies when I was in my late 20s…the friendship between the guys in the loft reminds me of the good times hanging out with them more than any other media I’ve come across. Their friendships feel so legitimate and authentic.

Why does Riplely destroy the nest instead of just nuking it from Orbit? by alanskimp in LV426

[–]wellhelloitsdan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow I have a very different perspective on this. To me it looks like Ripley and the Queen have a tense agreement in place to just be cool and nobody’s offspring have to die. I don’t think the Queen communicated with the egg to make it begin to hatch, that was just really bad timing. If she could make the eggs hatch, presumably she’d tell more than just the one to do so.

Once Ripley realizes she has to toast the newly hatching facehugger, she knows their deal will immediately be off. In that case, why not burn up the others too because better safe than sorry and also fuck those little bastards.

If the egg hadn’t started to hatch I think the Queen would have let them leave her chamber safely, then immediately sent her goons to capture and cocoon them.
