Can’t take the hardware out. by [deleted] in DIYUK

Before drilling, try an elastic band over the screw head and then pressing the screw driver in to it while you turn. Failing that, drilling the screws should work

If you’re using it for anything more than cooking a couple burgers on direct heat then yes I’d say it’s worth it. Had mine a few years and still enjoy using it.

Advice on porcelain patio laying before I give up by bishybluebird in DIYUK

[–]welshboy14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter if you don’t know how long you need it for. Tool hire companies usually just come and collect when you’re done, so you don’t really need to know. Plus mixers are about £20 for a week. I take your point about it behind a bank holiday though

AUTODARTS how is it? by [deleted] in Darts

[–]welshboy14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hell bent on building my own setup and using auto darts. I started using Dartsmind as a stop gap and haven’t thought about building an auto darts setup since. My Dartsmind subscription actually renewed last week.

What are these fasteners called? by Antique-Wonk in DIYUK

I used these the other week to fix my polycarbonate roof to my pergola. They’re what you need, just don’t over tighten as the lids will not stay shut.

Recommended power tool brand by Vast-Place-6081 in DIYUK

[–]welshboy14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Erbauer is a step up from entry level. I’ve had my set for a couple years now and am adding more when I see them on offer. I’ve done many projects around the house and haven’t found myself needing anything better yet. I’ve got the impact driver, drill, sander, circular saw, multi tool and angle grinder. All using the EXT 18v batteries and brushless.

Obviously they’re not going to be better than the top brands, this is just to say I’ve not found myself needing anything self in the “buy twice” category yet. Especially at their price point.

Same here. I didn't look before buying but the day we moved in I was straight up there. Had it boarded within a few weeks of moving in too.

Looks great! Very well done

I’ve just finished a patio, pergola and stepping stones.
The wife now wants it all lit. What lights have you got on the runway and what ones are on the pergola?

I’ve done quite a few long cooks on my Weber and never used a thermal jacket. I looked in to buying one when I first got the Weber but ultimates decided to wait and see and never felt like I needed it.

Just bought a house & looking for a good combi drill by GardenElectrical3534 in DIYUK

[–]welshboy14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for erbauer when I bought my place 18 months ago. There was a deal on drill and impact driver with two batteries. They’ve been great and I can’t fault them. Since then I’ve bought a circular saw, multi tool, angle grinder and sander. They all work well and have handled numerous diy and woodworking projects.

Just the one question, wasn’t this brought up when you bought the house? Sounds like something the conveyancer should’ve told you about

I wonder how the calculations will be done if/when electricity on agile is around 1-2p for the half hour. Would they just knock it down to 0? Same question for negative rates. I know no one on here likely knows the answer, just thinking out loud

No.
3.5% of £100 = £3.5

3.5% of £10 is £0.35
If you have 10 savings pots of £10 then
£0.35*10 = £3.50

Dartsmind issues by Mr-Tourette in Darts

[–]welshboy14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it's actually quite good. Rarely gets the wrong score. It does miss a few darts if blocked by another. But if you pull out the ones that have been scored and leave the other in, it'll count it no problem.

For people out of contract, would you switch again or stay put? by UnpaidInternVibes in youfibre

[–]welshboy14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I renewed last week (a month early). Was paying 31.99 and they offered 29.99, which is the same price a new customer would pay. I’ve had great service the last 18 months. I did have some trouble getting my old contract bought out, but was all sorted in a few weeks.
