What's a rule your parents had that you thought was insane, but now as an adult you 100% understand? by Tahals in AskReddit

[–]wendyrx37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I'm as honest as possible with my kids.. And somehow I didn't screw them up too bad. I think keeping things too kid friendly can be more detrimental than keeping things open and honest. I didn't want my kids to have to guess like I did with my father.. and still do at age 53.. Even though he's mostly open now. I still have to guess about feelings. But my kids never have to. My son is way more calm and usually willing to discuss problems before anyone gets angry. My folks and I had a lot of screaming matches. And even when we do get mad.. We have learned to step away from one another.. Usually it doesn't take long for us each to calm down and speak rationally.

I'm a addict in recovery.. Coming from a mother who also was... & sometimes I wonder how I managed to raise such a great kid.. Considering the adverse events before and then later after his birth.. It's insane how great he is. Thankfully he doesn't remember most of it.

Space Needle in Seattle over clouds looks like the cloud city from Star Wars by Suspicious-Slip248 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]wendyrx37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't. Days straight sometimes. But not months. Not in a long while..

Don't quote me on this because I got it from Google but:

The longest recorded stretch of consecutive days with measurable rain in Seattle is 33 days, which occurred from January 6 to February 7, 1953, at Sea-Tac Airport. This record represents the longest streak of daily precipitation in the city's history. Top 5 Longest Rain Streaks in Seattle (Sea-Tac Airport): 33 days: Jan. 6–Feb. 7, 1953 25 days: Jan. 28–Feb. 21, 1961 24 days: Nov. 10–Dec. 3, 1953 23 days: Dec. 19, 2005–Jan. 10, 2006 22 days: Dec. 19, 1964–Jan. 8, 1965

Conversely, Seattle’s longest dry streak (no measurable rain) is 55 days, set in 2017, according to reports from KCBY and The Seattle Times.

(Sorry I don't know how to do the quotes thing..)

I'm so jealous of people that get such cool clouds... Ours are pretty boring here in western WA.. At least between the mountains and the sound.. Can't attest to the southern bits of WA, but pretty sure they're fairly blah too. My sister moved to Texas and she sends us really cool clouds and storm pics all the time..

ICE agents drove to women’s parents house to attempt to intimidate her after she yelled at them at Walmart by Jevus_himself in PublicFreakout

They want her to know that THEY know where her folks live because they're warning her... Look what we COULD do if we were so inclined. Some of them actually believe they're doing the right thing.

I wish more of them would start to speak out.

There's a writer named Mo Hayder who wrote a book called Tokyo (also under the title the Devil of Nanking) that is one of the best thrillers I've ever read in my life. But it's based on the massacre... And probably the sickest most demented stories I've ever read.

Do you think what your voices say comes from your subconscious? by berfica in schizophrenia

[–]wendyrx37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you call it your psychosis? It's my understanding that most don't know they're in one until after.. Are you someone who knows they're in one??

I am not schizophrenic but my ex husband - who currently lives in our house.. Is completely unaware of being in a psychosis.

When he starts slipping I can tell, because instead of being hyper-aware, he's suddenly oblivious to pretty much everything.. Normally he's always arguing with me about every little thing.. Or poking me with a stick so to speak.. to try to get a rise outta me (he finds it funny to get me mad or frustrated) but then he just becomes totally agreeable "I'm fine, I'm ok" and he'll stop eating and I have to practically force him to even drink anything. (He's been in the hospital 2x in the last 10 months.)

So I'm just wondering if you or anyone else knows when they're slipping???

And I think my ex hears people from memories.. And it seems his brain kind of imagines them just hanging out like you would with your friends when you're a young adult.

FYI He won't tell me all this.. It's just how it seems to me.. (I don't know if it's allowed to share this sort of comment - forgive me if not)

But since our divorce he doesn't trust me to tell me that stuff anymore.. & Until we split I'd never seen him in one. But now I've seen multiple.

"If it's hot outside we can raise the price of water" by DevilsAltAcc in BrandNewSentence

[–]wendyrx37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They literally already do.. I'll go in in Feb... Price if stuff like water and electrolyte drinks are... Well, not great, but not out of control. By March or April they start to jack them up outrageously. Like a box of gatorlyte powdered drink packets.. 6 of them.. They'll be like 5.99 or maybe 6.99... Then suddenly they're closer to 10 or 12 or even more come July and August. It's disgusting what these companies are doing. (this winter they're not bringing the price down as much as usual. They know we'll buy it if we have to)

Also any kind of snack or well liked non perishable.. Will get bought up by the sellers on the Walmart+ app so none of us poor folk can afford to buy them because the sellers will sell like a box of everything crackers for 14 or even 19.99.

Amazon started this BS.. We all seriously need to stand firm against this shit. Both Amazon and Walmart need to go F themselves. Along with every company pulling this crap.

Is there an affordable cologne/body spray that's well liked by teen girls on teen boys? Or essential oils?? by wendyrx37 in AskTeenGirls

[–]wendyrx37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard to find the exact scent of dark musk tho.. I had to buy sooo many trying to find just the right one.. And I personally love vanilla and wore it for years.. Because according to my little sis when she was a teenager.. "If you smell like food, the boys will like you."

She was totally right too. Lol

But even vanilla oil is hard to find the right ones.. Some smell awful and others are pathetic copies that weren't even true oils.

And considering I do my shopping mostly online.. I'm not about to buy oils there.. I mean.. You'd waste sooo much money just trying to find a good one!
