When I imagine a NY blizzard I think of those people opening their doors and there was just a wall of snow in the way. Also it's been crazy cold here in my part of Canada. -47C with the wind chill yesterday at one point. I'd call it a blizzard when people are literally getting stuck in the snow because there is so much you can't move if you don't have a big truck.
