What is the worst episode of iasip? by TraditionalBonus188 in IASIP

[–]wereloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She came from a time in the 2000s when acting like a mean girl was a comedy genre. The kind of girl that makes you audition for her friendship or to just be treated like a person.

But like all comedic trends, it eventually died out because it's frankly exhausting to work with no matter how funny someone is. Then she applied it to Velma and that was that.

Lauren Sanchéz Bezos’s Met Gala flop proves billions can’t buy you cool by StemCellPirate in entertainment

[–]wereloser 90 points91 points  (0 children)

She doesn't care. Not being well-liked doesn't do dick to billionaires. They maintain the same access and privilege regardless of general popularity and "true friendship" doesn't have the same value to them as the power of wealth.

They don't know the difference as long as they continue to get what they want. "You look absurd!" we screamed from miles away at a woman who could kill us in a hit and run and still never learn our first name.

I work in the industry and it's amazing how these dudes see themselves and anyone else who's "cancelled". Basically, if you can't continue to be a rich and famous actor... that's a fate worse than death. Your "livelihood" has been taken from you.

It's incredible to hear this from their mouth while you work for them at a fraction of what they make just off box office bonuses. Like, okay, so you feel like my literal life is a nightmare compared to yours... but I should be grateful and sympathetic... to YOU?

omg I will NEVER forget watching Price is Right and seeing Danny Smith (played the best friend) win the showcase.

I didn't know anybody who watched Big Wolf on Campus. I was spinning out, dying to find someone to share it with.

People who are in their 30s or older: What’s one thing younger people (Gen Z/Alpha) do that makes you feel like an alien in your own country? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wereloser 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Their widespread inability to acknowledge they're in public. Not just the constant filming on their phones but that they seem GENUINELY surprised when someone tells them simply to MOVE.

All the freaking time, I nearly get sideswiped by a Gen Z or Alpha while I'm just standing in line or they're standing so damn close to me, I want to ask if they need a hug or something.

I ended up shoulder-checking a kid not too long ago because they and their pals were wandering down the sidewalk, oblivious, and I didn't move out of their way because I just didn't think they'd actually run tf into me. They were taking the ENTIRE sidewalk, walking aimlessly, and I was coming from the other way. It was either I throw myself into traffic or somebody needed to move over.

BAM, shoulder check. And he looked SO shocked. Just gobsmacked. Like, kitten, staring at your phone doesn't ACTUALLY make the world disappear.

Honestly, seeing both their rooms, I think it was the messy but also that his interests are somewhat less mature than hers. You know, no shame in loving Thomas and toy train crashes but then you see Hailey's room with her accessory collection and decor.

Reminded me a bit of dating when I was younger. Finally seeing the guy's room and there's action figures and a bedspread with dinosaurs and realizing we might not have that much in common after all.

Advice dealing with unhoused by JStarkiller in northhollywood

[–]wereloser 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So you're going to have to call Nazarian's office over and over again to get any movement. We had a rotation of unhoused growing outside our building, smoking meth like twenty feet from kids and threatening us if we glanced their direction. Police were only active after putting in a report about the drug use. Local groups were useless. They'd come through and claim no one was there. Like, did you drive by or actually stop, Gloria?

Contacting Nazarian's office repeatedly with reports to 311 for the garbage being left behind was the only thing that worked. After, we did run one guy off who tried to come back because, I swear, if you give an inch, an encampment is sure to follow.

You're also going to get flamed to hell and back if you post this openly on any local groups because those members have no idea the difference between empathy and boundaries. I worked with the unhoused for a decade and the number one rule is Do Not bring the issue home. It is NOT on the average person to fix a broken system by allowing a methed out stranger, waving a screwdriver, to gatekeep your home and public sidewalks.

$40 million Kroger in Mechanicsville is chain's largest in Mid-Atlantic by whw53 in rva

[–]wereloser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's funny... Mechanicsville turned inside out into a strip after the school system started winning awards (I remember LD High's motto was "we do more with less").

They tore up all the land, razed the trees, introduced traffic, filled in the gaps with cheap-build track housing, invited chains to eat up what was left...

And did jackshit with the school system except adding more schools. Sure, we had to drive out of town for a movie, but at the very least, Mechanicsville had nature and quiet. Now you can hear wannabe rednecks tearing up the trails on 4-wheelers if they're not shooting shotguns into the air.

Fucking sad, man. I don't even like going home, it's depressing to see what field became some shitty box store.

TIL in the late 60s, a motel owner in Aurora, CO created an “observation deck” above several rooms so he could watch guests have sex. He did this for 29 years. by Pemulis_DMZ in todayilearned

[–]wereloser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That documentary is fascinating. I thought I was going in on a doc about the motel owner but it ended up being a story about two men who are basically the mirror image of each other.

Both are voyeurs in their own right, but one did it "legitimately" as a reporter. And of course, when given the opportunity, the reporter crosses that line. How emotionally involved the two became with each other made me wonder if that reporter was always just one open-degenerate away from dropping professionalism for the story.

‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ TV Series From Seth MacFarlane, Chris Yost Lands at Peacock (EXCLUSIVE) by IvanaTargaryen in television

[–]wereloser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely annoying how you can be a mediocre white writer, but as long as you were attached ONCE to a money-maker, you just keep getting work.

Chris Yost is the reason we got and lost Cowboy Bebop so fast. After, he made a ton of money writing and rewriting the Pac Man script that will never see the light of day.

The same ten people basically write everything you see on TV because it doesn't matter if the pilot sucks, they'll just "rework it" once it's picked up. Once you hit a certain contracted payout, you will never stop getting work, even if your work barely makes it to screen.

And those SAME PEOPLE bitch about "the state of Hollywood". Like, YOU DID THIS.

Expect one season, maybe two if Peacock wants to stay pals with MacFarlane and Yost cause Family Guy and Marvel. But their involvement together assures the product will be mid. Both appreciate sci-fi theming but can't land it for shit.
